Year 9 students recently went on an amazing trip to Pyeongchang, where they had an unforgettable time. They took part in exciting activities such as campfires, rafting, climbing, and orienteering, creating memories that will stay with them for a long time.
Another thrilling activity that left a lasting impression was the exciting rafting adventure. Riding on a raft down the fast-flowing river, they felt a rush of excitement as they tackled the rapids. With their hearts beating fast, the students worked together, using their teamwork and communication skills to navigate the swirling water. As the splashes hit their faces, they couldn't help but shout with joy. Every moment on the raft felt like a victory, giving them a sense of confidence and accomplishment.
The Year 9 students also challenged themselves physically and mentally through climbing and orienteering. Climbing steep rocks and finding their way through the forest, they pushed themselves and learned the value of not giving up. Their determination was inspiring as they overcame obstacles and faced their fears. The breathtaking views from the top of the mountains and the excitement of finding hidden treasures during orienteering added to their sense of achievement.
Looking back on the trip, it is clear that these experiences had a strong impact on the Year 9 students. They not only became closer as a group but also discovered their own strengths and abilities. The memories they made during their adventures will always be in their hearts, reminding them of their resilience and determination.
The Year 9 students returned from Pyeongchang with a renewed sense of purpose and a greater appreciation for the natural world. Their experiences taught them the importance of working together, not giving up, and embracing new challenges.
As they return to the classroom, these young adventurers carry with them a treasure trove of memories that will continue to inspire and shape their future. The Year 9 trip to Pyeongchang will continue in the future, and it is hoped that it also provides a great memory for the Year 7s as well.

Y8TRIP by Daniel Lee
The students in Yongduam were on multiple trips throughout the school year. One of the most memorable trips for the year 7s and 8s was the separate year group trip. We visited a place called “Running Man Experience,” where as the name suggests, we were put in an experience which made both our physical body and mental capabilities run. There were a variety of activities which challenged us in fun ways, such as a beep test simulator, where we had to run to each ends to press a button for a certain amount in a short amount of time; a basketball hoop; and an obstacle course, which consisted of not only physical barriers but also mini-activities throughout the course like a hand-eye coordination test, and a quickness test.
(refer to first image) Some students enjoyed activities which challenged their cognitive abilities, such as this tetris game, where you had to fit all the pieces in a hole in a certain amount of time.
(refer to second image) This activity was similar to the first when it comes to being a fun challenge for your brain, but also required flexibility and teamwork to get the ball to the other side. In this image, we can see some year 7s working together in the activity.
(refer to third image) Thirdly, this type of activity challenges our athletic and physical capabilities. We had to throw the ball accurately to gain more points.
There were a lot more activities than this, but we summarised them into these three categories, as there were a big variety of them.
At the end, we gained points depending on how well we did on each activity. Some students did exceptionally well and earned prizes!
This experience let us stay active on an otherwise lacklustre weekend, while also being fun and enjoyable to the students. It also taught us an important life lesson that we had to aim to exceed in all categories to win the race, not just overly focus on one area. All the 7s and 8s enjoyed the trip, and some of the year 7s also stated that they wanted to visit the experience again next year.
