At camp, you will learn to be persistent when faced with challenges and you’ll be encouraged to solve problems. We know you can do it!

Decision-Making Skills

Summer camp is the perfect place to learn independence, and a big part of independence is your ability to make your own decisions. At Girl Scout camp, everything is girl-led, meaning you will help decide what your group does throughout the week. By making these decisions for yourself, we can ensure that you get the camp experience that you want that is focused on skills and activities that matter to you!

Courage

Coming to camp for the first time might be scary at first, but you’ll get comfortable quickly. At camp, you’ll learn just how capable you are. You’ll have countless opportunities to try new things: new foods at mealtime, archery, cooking over a fire, and more. Hands-on learning is so fun! And you won’t be alone! Our highly trained Camp Counselors will be by your side to guide you and help you reach your goals.

An Appreciation for Nature

At camp, the distraction of technology is eliminated, allowing you to unplug and connect with your fellow campers and the indescribable beauty around you. You’ll jump right in and learn while you try something new for the first time. You’ll make long lasting memories while you sing songs at a campfire, hike the trails, tell stories under the stars, and make new friends.

Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails welcomes girls, families, and staff of every race, ethnicity, income level, sexual orientation, and religion, and reflects a spectrum of gender identity. All camps are open to nonbinary youth who are affirmed in a girl focused environment.

Leadership Camp: July 5 - August 4

Want to work in the outdoor education field someday or just gain the skills needed for jobs outside of camp and Girl Scouts? Our leadership programs will get you started on the right path. WITs and CITs will start with a week dedicated to learning leadership skills, experiencing the different activities offered, and going through a mini training. In the following weeks, you’ll be assigned to different groups (WITs will always go with horse groups) to practice your skills hands-on.

Counselors in Training (CITs) and Wranglers in Training (WITs) are invited to spend the entire month at camp! From July 14 - 16, you will go home for a staff break (wash laundry, say hello to friends and family, etc).

NEW THIS SUMMER! After completing four (4) weeks of CIT or WIT, all leadership campers are invited to join us at Camp U: Outdoor Skills FOR FREE.

Counselor in Training

Discover your leadership style while working side-by-side with camp staff. During your week you will be able to work with campers (overseen by a counselor) teaching one-off activities and then put your new teaching knowledge to the test by planning a full day of activities that YOU will lead. This camps teaching focus will be on age-level characteristics, teaching styles, and risk management. Big Project: Plan a full day for a group, do a service project, AND plan and MC an opening campfire.

CITs will be partnered with counselors, unit leaders, and program specialists to learn about the different areas of camp, engage with campers in different activities, and even have a chance to lead groups (supervised) themselves.

GSNMT Members: $550, Non-Members: $600

Wrangler in Training

Work with the barn staff and learn what it takes to care for the horses day-to-day throughout the summer. Practice teaching horse care techniques to younger campers such as grooming, leading, and horse safety. Learn even more about tack, western riding, and horse healthcare. You will also receive special lessons just for you and your fellow WITs! Big Project: for week 1 you will lead at least one trail ride, for week 2 you will plan and lead an arena game or rodeo day. Wranglers in training will also complete a service project while at camp. NOTE: the focus of this camp is NOT riding but teaching and stable management.

WITs will spend a lot of time in the barn with the Wranglers and Equestrian Director learning about lessons, herd management, and what it takes to run the barn at camp and teach lessons.

GSNMT Members: $550, Non-Members: $600

Calling all parents & caregivers! Reserve your spot today to spend an overnight session at camp helping the camp staff as an assistant counselor and receive a discount on the total price of one of your camper’s sessions!

SAVE $225 off your camper’s program for a 6-day session, $150 for a 4-day session!

In the role of assistant counselor, you will help with the day-to-day management of the group. A required gsLearn course will need to be completed by mid-June, you must possess current First Aid & CPR certifications, and you must be related to or be a direct caregiver of the camper. Discount is applicable to overnight (4- or 6- day) sessions at Rancho del Chaparral only. Visit nmgirlscouts.org/2023SummerCamp for more information.

Troop & Family Camp

Troop Camp

Troop Adventure meets overnight camp—it’s the best of both worlds. Girl Scouts and their Troop leaders attend camp together participating in classic camp activities as a troop such as arts and crafts and campfires. Girl Scouts in grades 4 and above can also choose to try archery or other camp-specific activities. Additional activities are offered such as hikes, yoga, knife safety, canoeing, and trail rides.

• Troops sleep as a group and spend the day participating in activities together.

• Troop leaders are responsible for their troop at all times, including wake up, bedtime, transition to activities, time in-between activities, downtime, etc.

• Camp staff will lead activities.

• Girl Scouts have opportunities to interact with other campers, but most of your time is spent as a troop making camp memories together.

All adults registered for Troop Camp must have a current 2023 Girl Scout membership and must have successfully completed a GSNMT background check.

Family Camp

Experience the magic of camp with your family! Our trained staff will lead you through adventures such as hiking, arts and crafts, yoga, and more. Family camp is great for Girl Scouts new to camping or families who just want to have fun outdoors without all the planning.

• Families sleep as a group and spend the day participating in activities together.

• Adults are responsible for their family group at all times, including wake up, bedtime, transition to activities, time in-between activities, downtime, etc.

• Camp staff will lead activities.

• Girl Scouts have opportunities to interact with other campers, but most of your time is spent as a family making camp memories together.

Choose a 3-day (Friday - Sunday) or 5-day (Sunday - Thursday) option, whichever best fits your schedule!

NEW! This year, the cost will be per “room” (cabin, tent, hogan, etc.) instead of paying per individual person. In addition to lodging, your fee covers all meals and 5 hours of programming each day (9:30 am - 12:00 pm and 2:30 pm - 5:00 pm).

Do-si-dos Albuquerque Day Camp

Do-si-dos Day Camp is for Kindergarten to 5th graders. Leadership/program aide opportunities are available for 6th to 9th graders. Your camper does not need to be a current Girl Scout to join us in the fun! This is a gender-specific Day Camp for youth that identify as girls.

Camp will run Monday – Friday. Check-in will be from 9:00 am - 9:30 am. Check-out will be from 4:00 pm - 4:30 pm. Before care is available from 8:30 am - 9:00 am. Aftercare is available from 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm. Add Before or After Care: $25 individually or $40 for both (no early bird discount).

Caregivers will be invited to join us each week from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm on Friday for different activities like a talent show, gallery-style art show, science fair, and more.

A Little Bit of Everything

June 19-23, 2023

Spend one day each exploring the perfect sampler of camp activities: outdoor skills, STEM, life skills, and entrepreneurship through games, crafts, experiments, and more.

STEM Magic

June 26-30, 2023

Explore each pillar of STEM: science, technology, engineering, math (and magic)! From handson messy foam to exploding soda rockets, marshmallow catapults, and playing with magnets. Then, we’ll wrap up with a mini science fair on the last day.

Movement & Music

July 3-7, 2023

Lights, music, places! Explore different kinds of dance, learn new songs, make instruments, practice skits, and more. On the final day, parents will be invited to a talent show or parade.

Cost Day Camp (Kindergarten – 5th)

Water Wonders

July 10-14, 2023

Chill out, cool down, and stay hydrated! Learn about water, where it comes from, why we need it, where it’s going, how to filter it, what its common and unique uses are, and (of course) spend plenty of time playing water games and doing experiments.

Wild About Animals

July 17-21, 2023

It’s time to get wild (about animals)! Learn about different types of animals (mammals, aquatic, etc), make costumes, create habitats, learn about their eating habits, explore jobs with animals, and more.

Ready, Resilient, Strong Program Aides

Girl Scouts in grades 6th - 9th are invited to volunteer and earn service hours assisting with or leading programs. Learn about leadership, teamwork, conflict resolution, handling stressful situations, experiential learning, and child development. These leadership opportunities offer valuable skills and experience, many of which will help prepare you for life in high school. If you have not already, all active Girl Scouts will earn their PA pin by participating in this program.

Program Aides (6th – 9th) FREE!
