Spring Gardening Tips Spring is an exciting time for gardeners, and if you're new to planting, here are some tips to help you get started.

OUR PURPOSE

FAMILY first, ALWAYS LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA When I was 17 years old, I left my hometown of Santa Barbara and moved to Los Angeles to go to school and learn about pattern making and clothing construction. I never wanted to be a clothing designer, but in 1979, when I was 23, I married my husband, Lonnie, and we started our own company. Despite all of the challenges we've faced, we're still here, 45 years later, with our sons ready to lead us into the future.

In 1979, my husband, Lonnie, and I started our company out of our home garage. From the start, we were a family-run business, and that has never changed. In the beginning, we were young and naive, but we had a dream and were determined to make it come to life. Four decades later, the world has changed in countless ways- our two sons are poised to take over the next generation of leadership of our company, we now sell more clothes online than we do in stores, and my granddaughters have become our new bosses. With all of that change, one thing still remains the same: our commitment to ethical business practices and making clothes responsibly has never wavered.

Last year, my second granddaughter, Kennedy, was born. I want to ensure we do everything we can to make sure her future is brighter. That means organizing employee volunteer events to plant fruits Planting vegetables at a company volunteer event to help local homeless shelter residents.

and vegetables at urban farms for our homeless neighbors, and donating to the National Park Foundation to ensure that these important shared spaces are available to future generations. It also means partnering with CleanHub, The Nature Conservancy, and the World Land Trust to ensure the resources that I had growing up will also be available to my granddaughters. When I walk into our office each morning, it feels like I'm dreaming- after 45 years, I'm lucky to work alongside the people I love the most: my family. One of My Favorite Recipes Parmesan Roasted Aspargus I discovered a version of this recipe in "Old World Italian," one of my favorite cook books. Parmesan roasted asparagus is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that highlights asparagus' natural flavors while adding a savory Parmesan cheese kick. What You Need – – – – – –

1 bunch of fresh asparagus, washed and trimmed 2 tablespoons olive oil Salt and pepper to taste 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese 2 cloves garlic, minced (optional) Lemon wedges for serving (optional)

Directions – Preheat your oven to 400° degrees Fahrenheit. – Wash asparagus spears and trim the tough ends. – Place trimmed asparagus on a baking sheet. Drizzle olive oil over the asparagus and toss to coat evenly. – Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you like garlic, you can also add minced garlic at this point for extra flavor. – Spread the seasoned asparagus in a single layer on the baking sheet. – Roast in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the asparagus is tender but still has a slight crunch. – Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the roasted asparagus during the last 5 minutes of baking. The cheese will melt and turn golden brown, creating a delicious crust on the asparagus. – Once the asparagus is done, remove it from the oven. Transfer to a serving platter and squeeze a bit of fresh lemon juice over it if desired.
