Over the course of the last two years, we have partnered with the World Land Trust™ to help offset our carbon footprint. During that time, we have offset over four million pounds of carbon dioxide by protecting nearly 120 acres of endangered rainforest.

Over 70% of Karen Kane's management team consists of women. On average, our employees stay at our company for 9.1 years, and our annual turnover rate is 24%.

We're committed to protecting our oceans by calculating our plastic footprint, and paying to help offset a portion of it. Since the start of 2022, we've partnered with CleanHub to collect and repurpose 20,000 pounds of plastic (equal to a million water bottles) before entering the world’s oceans. Instead of wasting away in landfills or polluting the ocean, plastic gets recycled or used as an energy source.

This book was printed on carbon-balanced paper with the help of World Land Trust. Since 2021, they have helped us protect Earth's most threatened biologically significant habitats by restoring and guarding carbon-rich wildlife in the tropics. To date, we have helped offset over 4 million pounds of carbon dioxide by paying to protect nearly 120 acres of endangered rainfrorest. This is a commitment we plan to continue growing yearly.

Over the past two years, we have partnered with GrowGood, a Los Angeles urban farm, to host employee volunteer events to help feed homeless residents of our community and provide them with opportunities to get back on their feet. Our teams have helped plant new vegetables, harvest crops, remove weeds from gardens, prune trees, maintain orchards, wash produce, clear paths, and learn about the way healthy food and gardening can act as catalysts for healing.

One of My Favorite Recipes Apple and Cashew Spinach Salad I discovered this delicious dish in one of my favorite books, "Maman: The Cookbook." Among the hundreds of recipes in this book, this healthy, unique way to prepare a salad stood out to me. It's a great dish to make all year- everyone seems to love the unique curry vinaigrette, and the salad is vegan, so no one is left out. 2 tbsp Dijon mustard 2 tbsp white wine vinegar 1 tbsp dry white wine 1 tsp soy sauce 2 tbsp sugar 1 tsp curry powder 1/2 tsp fine sea salt 1/4 tsp ground black pepper 1/2 cup extra-virgin olive oil

3/4 cup chopped unsalted cashews 2 tbsp sesame seeds 5 cups pre-packed baby spinach 1 Granny Smith apple, very thinly sliced 4 scallions, sliced 1/4 cup dried cranberries

Preheat your oven to 400° degrees Farenheit. Prepare the vinaigrette. In a small bowl, whisk together the mustard, vinegar, wine, and soy sauce. Add sugar, curry powder, salt, and pepper. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved. Slowly drizzle olive oil until fully emulsified. Spread cashews evenly in a small ovenproof skillet and toast in your oven until golden brown and fragrant (about 10 minutes). Transfer the cashews to a small bowl and allow to cool. Spread sesame seeds evenly in the same small skillet and toast in the oven until golden brown and fragrant (about 5 minutes). Transfer the sesame seeds to another small bowl and let cool. In a bowl, toss together spinach, apple, scallions, cranberries, and cashews. Drizzle the curry vinaigrette over the salad and toss to coat. Divide among four bowls, sprinkle each with the toasted sesame seeds, and serve.
