There's no better time to celebrate our families, traditions, and all the things that bring us joy. This season, we put a unique twist on the holidays by channeling California's chic coastal vibe. BAKED with LOVE AN EASY RECIPE FOR THE BUSY HOLIDAY SEASON Sugar cookies are often associated with holiday traditions, which they certainly are for our family. I have very fond memories of baking and decorating cookies together with my sister and our children every Christmas season. They have always been a favorite of ours because they offer such an opportunity for creativity. 18 KARE N KAN E.CO M

Super Simple Sugar Cookies Sugar cookie recipes are fairly straightforward and don't require a lot of complex baking knowledge, which makes them perfect for people with any level of experience. I love this particular recipe because it combines tradition, creativity, togetherness, and a dash of sweet indulgence that complements the joyful spirit of the holiday season.

What you need

– 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour – 1 teaspoon baking soda

– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened – 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar – 1 large egg

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional, for extra flavor) – Pinch of salt

Directions – Preheat your oven to 375°F

– In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Set aside. – In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until creamy and smooth. This can be done using a hand

community We're very proud of the partnership that we've built with

GrowGood, an urban farm and non-profit organization that's connected to the Salvation Army's Bell Shelter, which is closely located to our corporate office in Downtown Los Angeles. Through this relationship, Karen Kane volunteer teams have helped feed homeless residents of our community by pruning trees, planting new vegetables, and harvesting crops. Many of the shelter's residents also volunteer and work alongside us, including US Army, Air Force, and Marine veterans, as well as young teenagers. GrowGood offers them the opportunity to get back on their feet by learning about the way healthy food, hard work, and giving back to your community can act as catalysts for healing. GrowGood operates a 1.5 acre farm in collaboration with the Salvation Army's Bell Shelter, which is the largest homeless shelter West of the Mississippi River. It offers transitional care for 500 individuals with the support of GrowGood supplying healthy food and the opportunity to garden as a catalyst for healing. For the greater Los Angeles community, the farm also offers a place to connect with the land and learn how food is grown. We're very proud to be a GrowGood partner and strongly support the organization's mission to help shelter residents improve mental clarity and regain their independence.

Why GrowGood? GrowGood is making an investment to create a community that can thrive through pride of work and the belief that farming and healthy food can offer total nourishment for mind, body, and soul.
