SUMMER ABS
By Kaye-Ann Sadler
The summer is here, but it’s not too late to get started on those abs! Here are 3 basic moves you can do regularly to tone your abdominals:

1. PLANKS
Lay on the floor in a push-up position - keep your elbows under your shoulders, hands flat on the floor and core engaged. Make sure your knees and forearms are on the floor and raise yourself up keeping your body in a straight line from your knees to your head.
Beginners should attempt to hold this position for 20-30 seconds and gradually increase your holding time each time. More advanced people should hold this position for as long as possible.
2. MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS
Start in a high plank (push-up) position. Move your right knee to your chest then back to the start position. Next, move your left knee to your chest and back again. Gradually increase your pace, repeating this movement.
Try these in 30-60 seconds intervals or to failure (burnout). Mountain climbers are a good source of cardio, while working your core.
3. SCISSOR KICKS
Lie on your back with your arms to your sides. Lift both of your legs slightly off the ground, while keeping them together. Keeping both legs straight, simply alternate kicking them in the air, without letting them hit the ground.
Try these in 30-60 seconds intervals or to failure (burnout). This is a great way to burn that stubborn lower ab pouch.
