1. Tell us about your artistic work: why do you do it, what do you want to express, if you have a precise style and a specific technique or change them in every project. My art drives me over the past 20 years. I used revealing aspects of sound_art history and although in

the technical term of inflatables (objects) in the twentieth century, which have a profound impact on our culture today. I find myself continually returning to those interdisciplinary research field of sound and acoustic research with aspects that are often misrepresented. In my varied and diverse approaches to making art; sound installations; prototyping, sound-, stage design and acoustic design, in the context of my sound sculpture_work they always have an impact on the work’s relationship to the listener/viewer/listener. My work ranges from the context of theatre and scenic design, open public spatial spaces, private collectors, up to a sonic reflection on the architectural nature with atmosphere quality presentations of sound masking through water-fountains in spatial spaces. Objects and projects have been exhibited at museums, galleries both nationally and internationally. My recent work investigates inflatables as panels, wall_sculptures, and sound_installations. I mine the language of painterly abstraction, monumental sculpture to transform mundane industrial soft vinyl materials into layer sculptures to/and sound sculptures. I am particularly invested in exploding the structural possibilities of abstract painting, expanding the kinetic possibilities for a monumental sound sculpture and enlivening the dialogue around contemporary art, YES! Worldwide.

I create air-inflated structures / wall_objects that engage a spatial space in acoustical properties way, testing the boundaries and expectations of audibility in a room, while exploring the possibilities of low-brow, mundane, unconventional materials. I am interested in how objects "sounds/resonance" and to "how" they are created with filled gas / AIR, i.e. the appearance of panel painting visualized through industrial materials and monumental sculptural form. I combine graphical layers in opposition to the linearity and the flexibility of soft vinyl film and Air. My technical Standard is: „State of the art-“ related to high-frequency welding (HF). An HF generator produces the energy and the resulting weld, is a strong, consistent leak-proof eal.

Those blown-up works of art takes carved various geometric forms: from nature, from visible sound and vibration figures (cymatics and chladni figures) intended to create new and unpredictable working cycles providing an experimental chance for me to go ahead with my vision: „How mass and energy fields (resonance) are formed or transformed on a surface like a membrane with a vibrating soft- flex- surface .“ The result is a typical distinguishing feature of a slightly shiny soft carved high relief impression; nearly the whole panel is covered by embossed striations and has many bumps (peaks) and sections of valleys, it forms the space and form. Indeed, they depend on each other.

2. Within which mood of art you place your artwork I work in the context of the avant-garde art movement in the twentieth century called: ZERO movement, the T- Group in Europe (Italy) and Gutai- Group in Japan, with a focus on air_ energy/sound _ energy (cymatics, kinetic). The basic artistic._research Between soft sculpture art forms and technology, was to elaborate on new results and experience in the acoustical analytical system of inflatable forms. Check!

3. Could you tell us something about the art in your country? Is there an active artistic community? Are you part of it? Yes of course! First of all, I like to give a picture: Linz is the third largest city in Austria and was 2009 the European capital of culture. Going local in the downtown area, next to my production_studio, there is OK Center for Contemporary Art. https://www.facebook.com/ok.center/?rf=280013695346432 Always on the pulse of the times and I appreciate being a part of the good network with many connections. A great museum with a focus on contemporary art and media art. This local hot spot is a cultural center zone in the heart of Linz. Regional and international artists take place and have a full supported crew. I cultivate relationships with another artist here in Linz and across the globe, to get prospects is one of the most important things and of course to generate new supporters for my art. Not far away you will find in the University of art and design, renovated and clean. A baseless neoclassical monumental building of the national socialist era. The capital city Linz also has a nice refreshing river with a sand beach. Called the (blue) Danube between the „Ars Electronica Centre“ and Museum of Modern Art and the Bruckner Haus „Lentos“. Side effects are some galleries and art association counted on two hands in the town area. One of my membership is the second oldest art union: Kunstverein Oö. (Upper Austria) Founded in 1851 placed in the cultural center zone. Great to freak out! THIS:

Will lead us to the temporary club called: UNTEN http://www.untenlinz.at . A multidisciplinary intermedia

spatial performance club. This location broke down genre boundaries in the last few weeks. With great live shows of all kinds of underground culture, are the club’s STWST Linz or KAPU in my hometown. Does anybody knew that Nirvana gives a Concert in the year 1989 in the KAPU BAR! 4. What's a typical day in Johannes Steininger’s life?

My typical working day starts around at 5:30

AM. Sunnyside Up! A lovely way to start the day! I am very disciplined, and I'm pretty hardcode actually. To bring more gratitude into living

with meditation as a game changer and a deeper connection to my inner guidance and to increase compassion for myself and others. And I like the sense of silence that you get at a certain time of day. Without Coffee I am nothing!? Yes, I like Coffee a lot! But then I drink natural water, sometimes flavored, constantly all day long and I love it! To give me a boost, to wake up!

I am a morning runner!

I run in the morning, and I feel gained a couple of hours in my day. Perfect!

I’m

a man and father. SO I am coming up to bring my two kids to the kindergarten and primary school. When I walk back to my art_studio, I use the opportunity to have a mindful walking practice to this everyday activity. Then I work for a few more hours. Depending on my mood, I either take time for social networking and as well my art business and operating matters and then I go back to work. If there is something I need to work on, I take a short break and go back to work. I work seven days a week. Very important for me to do something regularly, like a regular looping system. It’s not a secret that I have never hung out too much, and I’ve just worked very hard for the last twenty- five years. Lunch table! There is no meat! I prefer not to eat meat! I give it up! Because we can not eat ALL meat. I think this big system is OVERLOADED and I was able to let them go! The meat! The afternoon course different. It depends on the planning of the family, personal visits to the studio or foreign settlements with appointments…. or I practice my Muay Thai boxing with some inspired yoga_ poses for stretching. A Starting point in my production_studio: I characterize, arrange and rearrange and develop new inflatable panels layouts. And I try out new soft materials and new vinyl films. I also develop and be a specific part of my skills in the main design process for inflatable prototyping things for me and the international industry and start-up companies. For examples: We made an inflatable tent it was around 2016 and among other things, I produced the first inflatable contact microphone and as an underwater microphone (hydrophone)2017, called “SupersonicAIRear.” Some Europe and South America sound artists work with my inflatable microphone. Last year we were creating a vibration sound mattress for receiving vibration therapy. And for other products around the market, I have to be strictly confidential.

Thank you very mucho grande!

5.Traveling for art, for example for personal exhibitions or for other art exhibitions you want to see? Do you like to see others’ art? Yes of course! Nice! Athen, Nice! Berlin WoW then was Great! Documenta through the city, an amazing good walking through the city Tour2017.

2019 also a great Year! I have some group exhibitions in Europe on my list and just

speaking again for myself. MY show 2019! I have a SOLO Showcase, in Germany! PRIMA!

6. Where are your favorite places or themes where you can find inspiration for your work?

YES! Here in my local area, we have a tiny observatory called Johannes-Kepler Observatory and a STUPA. A symbolic

monument for ME, and an encounter zone with me and new goals that I want to achieve. And sometimes I go up to the park of the castle of Linz with old stock trees, and one of those trees, there is my giving tree! Yes! I am inspired by Shel Silverstein and his children’s picture book The giving tree!

So I have a connection through the ages a relationship to a tree! Yeah, time goes by, and sometimes I must speak loudly to

my old friend! Me+T. 7. Have you studied art or are you self-taught? YES! a double degree. I studied art here in AUT (Austria) and Germany / Berlin. So I started in LINZ with my Bachelor’s thesis, and I had part of time jobs in the art scene. A Keynote and a changing role were Berlin. Universität der Künste Berlin. WOW, I was dropped In. The Arts and Culture Capital of Europe Always own an encourage art scene! So doped! …the Berlin wall, A great pulsed on Zeitgeist City.! And my first born girl ;-) Your Name is AVA. YE!S she is a smart BERLIN Girl! Now she is 9,5 year old. ..Time After Time… .Time After Time… …andI was a contemporary student in the attentive audience at the TU Berlin Acoustic, to be a part and I found especially important for me, to get into a study platform: based on learning the acoustic knowledge with training performance, face to face. On the other hand I spend countless hours researching in the central library called „VOLKSWAGEN Universitätsbibliothek.“ Berlin was Massive! As an update on this topic: 2018 I’m not done with my studies and thesis, and i ended up being a full-credit Ph.D. researcher at the University of Art. My second Master at University of Art and Design in LINZ in the fields of cross-cutting study themes located at the interfaces of art, architecture, design and innovative acoustic. I was a blast and unique! Research-inspired acoustic_design with workshops, lecture series and projects with the Network of the University of ART.

8. Do you remember the first artistic work you did? NO 9. What do you think about social networks and the web about art and artists? Social Networks. Yes, of course, a lot of companies and individuals use them. I use them a lot, but only as an Artist. It’s an open Door on a Universe. Curators, Collectors, professional art audience, Yes it’s a good choice. Not for personal use. Remember in the worldwide web “ When you don’t buy the Product. You are the Product! !“ 10.

Could you talk to us about the idea of your project?

Think about an inflated balloon. Filled with your breathing AiR and tightly filled and tied up. The First excitement is to receive the oscillating sound wave from the air. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbeK1fg1Rew When you gently support the balloon with your hands; you will feel a unique vibration. A resonance quality feedback from the air balloon, with his natural resonance characteristic. The second outstandingly homogeneous physical condition the enclosed AIR volume has always tense toward to are in a perfectly physical and spherical shape. Like soap bubbles. Link: http://www.design-is-fine.org/post/51247150247/frei-otto-seifenlaugenversuchthe-soap-film . Those empirical Values has blown my mind! And I exchange my fields of activity. I focused more on the last 3,5 years on this phenomenon where systems amplified energy whose resonance frequency matches. Every oscillatory system / The object has a natural vibration rate. This is called in German „Eigenresonanz.“ This oscillation happens in every system. A state of vibration_ ALL_ is in a state of vibration. To give you a mental picture, again: When two identical tuning forks placed in the same room but different places and you are striking one t. Fork will cause the other fork, in the same frequency. Both tuning forks generate vibrational energy. YES! WoW, it works!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sxRkOQmzLgo

Into the realm of human relationships and the resulting plethora of

relations which ultimately create awareness. My purely artistic merits based on sound/ vibration more on resonance and the omnipresent immaterial AIR.

11. You have organized exhibitions in the past. How does it feel to involve others in your art?Always… when the Basic conditions are aroused with a great deal of Art_ interest, and Art_investment, in the public fair! YES !! Great to be a part! Of it! Very good! It is precisely what appeals to me, lifelong! Respect! Added Value is to find conditions on trust, based on respect, to sell my art as listed. And YES it’s a key factor in my Art career. To be a part of supporting multifaceted Networking in the Operating System Art. Behind me, I also had at art fairs in the past, where I talked about photographic wallpaper for a smoking room. … Silently. 12. What is your favorite artwork? My most loved masterpieces of all time included the historical autobiography along when looking at art and depend on the social milieu aspects of culture and society. Let me think about it. There’re some spectacular artworks in the context. I am choosing Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The. 5,600 cubic meter package for the Kasseler document 4, 1968.

It’s BIG! It’s impressive!

And my not done reading List: „Skilful Means“, Tarthang Tulku. 15. Is there a famous contemporary artist that you want to report? And an artist who is not famous but who you like and whose artistic research do you share? And an artist who is not famous but who you like and whose artistic research do you share? As labeled to your question: It is! : Italian, Artist: Piero Manzoni and second answer. ………….I would like to give a special focus here on Reinhard Gupfinger https://www.instagram.com/sound_shifting/ Sound Shifting. https://www.facebook.com/soundshifting.at/?fref=mentions.

and his ongoing series

Thank You!

16. You have been contacted by No Name Collective Gallery and did not know what kind of project we would have made: are you happy to trust us? I am a part of it, in the first collective Zero issue. I noticed Valentine H. Hyman outstanding work. Valentine enthusiasm was contagious and with this great attitude from the Team of NNC Gallery London…

I am quite happy and a strong supporter. I look forward to seeing the entire

Team of NNC Gallery in London. 17.
