Tell us about the venue Turn into the driveway at Congham Hall and you get a glimpse of the beautiful Georgian house which sits in 30 acres of stunning parkland. The hotel has recently been refurbished and offers a choice of 26 bedrooms, including 11 new garden rooms with private terraces. There is a tennis court, croquet lawn and putting green, as well as a new “state-of-the-art” spa. With a 12 metre swimming pool, a thermal suite with sauna, steam and bio sauna, experience showers, footbaths and an outdoor hot tub. There is a range of spa treatments, using Elemental Herbology products and herbs from the hotel herb garden. The Writing Room is a perfect room for small weddings and seats up to 18 people around one large table. The restaurant, with its majestic views can seat 90 -100 people.
Are you registered wedding venue? Yes

Do you have any availability left for the 2013 weddings? Some dates yes
What is your favourite part when helping to plan and arrange your couples wedding? My personal favourite part is the ‘theme’, how we can work with the Bride and Groom to create their theme for their special day. We have so much flexibility for example creating bespoke menus to planting herbs for favours. It’s about creating a relationship with the Bride and Groom, so they feel like they are the ‘owners’ for the day, and Congham is their home.
Would you have any advice or tips for the couples in Norfolk? Many Brides do a pre-photo shoot, I would always recommend (if photographer is willing) to go to the coast, get some coastal photos taken and use these on the Big day to incorporate what Norfolk has to offer and show it off to your friends and family.

Say YES to the Veil! One of the first decisions to be made after purchasing the wedding gown is whether to wear a veil or not. Instinctively, most of the modern day brides tend to shy away from the idea as it represents purity, virginity and innocence. And although it sometimes fails to fit within their contemporary lifestyles, there is no doubt that wearing a veil on their wedding day can make a big difference. Here are 7 reasons why you SHOULD have a veil:
Veil Pictured // Swarovski Crystal Rhinestone Silk Pencil Edge 125 Inch Long Cathedral Length Veil with Blusher by glager6 at Etsy
1
It symbolises femininity – the sheer tulle gracefully falling over the shoulders softens the look and gives that angelic glow.
2
First Impressions Counts – there is no better way to capture everyone to when the bride walks in the room.
3
You can wear it only once – although there are many occasions for women to get dressed up in fabulous gowns – the only time you will get to wear a veil – is your wedding day!
4
Perfect accessory – you can match your veil to your dress to complete the look whether you are less traditional and more fashion – forward bride – there is plenty to choose from – bohemian, avant-garde with extra volume and shape to create a more dramatic look.
5
Two different looks – wear your veil for the official part of the wedding and the ceremony and take it off for the evening celebrations for more relaxed look.
6
Perfect photo opportunity – veils look fantastic in photos, especially on a blowy day on the beach or in a sunny garden.
7
Keep your mum and grandmother happy – not only by looking great, but also, by giving them a little bit of excitement and tradition to the wedding, especially if you are having a quirky do.

Get The Look Soft metallic eyes and nude lips are perfect for the bride wanting a modern, glamorous look – this makeup is all about enhancing the eyes, with glowing beautiful skin and glossy creamy lips. This subtle smoky silver eye would particularly suit cooler, fairer skin tones and is the kind of look which would work well with a sleek fitted fishtail wedding gown and a beautiful structured up do or high bun to really accentuate your features. Here are a few tips on how to achieve this look.

Try a highlighter across the top of the cheekbones, along the bridge of the nose and on the cupid’s bow of the lips to give a glow to skin. Try Illamasqua Gleam in Aurora (£18, Illamasqua. com), a champagne iridescent cream highlighter.
3
The Urban Decay Naked Palette 2 (£36, Debenhams) has plenty of metallic colours to choose from – for this look try Verve, Pistol and then work a little Blackout into the crease and along the lash line for a smoky liner look.
2
To achieve a super shimmery eye, make sure you use an eye primer to really grab the eye colours you apply. I love Mac Paint Pot in Bare Study (£14.50, www.maccosmetics.co.uk) which works as both a cream to powder shadow and as a base for stronger eye makeup.
4
A soft beige blusher will accentuate cheek bones, contour and add gentle colour to the skin – I love Sleek’s blusher in Suede (£4.49, www. sleekmakeup.com)
5
A nude, creamy lip works perfectly with a stronger bridal eye – for this look Cream Cup by Mac (£13, www.maccosmetics.co.uk) or Bare Minerals Moxie in Be Free (£16, www.bareminerals.com) will give you a real, soft nude, Cheryl Cole-inspired pout.
6
Finish with a shimmery high shine lip gloss – I love Dior Addict Gloss in Etoilee 013 (£22, House Of Fraser).

Q/ I suffer with spotty outbreaks and am paranoid that I’m going to get one before my big day! Please Help! - Lucy A/ Lucy, I can relate to this as I was an acne sufferer and I still get the odd outbreak. Most importantly, you need to stay calm and control your stress levels, as this will keep spots at bay. Difficult I know at this busy time. If you do get one then I love to use my ‘spot zapping’ remedy (you can view a video demo of this at my YouTube page) – mixa crushed Aspirin with a little water and apply like a mask to the outbreak leaving for 10 minutes. This will really help to reduce the inflammation and speed the healing process.

Q/ I’m getting married in the Maldives and am concerned about the effect of the heat & sun on my skin when I’m getting married on the beach. I also don’t want to look a shiny mess in my photos. - Sara A/ What an amazing venue! I love this question as I got married in Vegas so it was also super hot! What I did was to ensure that I applied a good layer of sunscreen (preferably containing titanium dioxide or zinc oxide) to my face and body at least 30 minutes before applying makeup and getting dressed. I also used a ‘mineral based’ loose setting powder pressed into my skin before I applied my mineral foundation which kept the ‘shiny’ effect to a minimum.

Insurance and Business Risk
Personal Recommendations
Professional photographers often look to achieve accreditation through recognised industry associations. This means that they have been independently assessed on the quality of their work and only then are they awarded membership. Such associations have a code of professional conduct that the photographers have to agree to follow. This gives you peace of mind that you are dealing with a credible professional who will not let you down on your big day. There are three professional photographer associations in the UK: The British Institute of Professional Photography (BIPP), The Master Photographers Association (MPA) and The Royal Photographic Society (RPS).
Not a very exciting subject, but all professionals will have public liability and professional indemnity insurances for their businesses. Many venues require that photographers who attend on your behalf have a certain level of insurance cover, so it’s worth checking this out when you are meeting with potential venues and photographers.
Nothing beats a personal recommendation from somebody so ask friends and family about their experiences with using a photographer. It makes a great starting point from which to bring together your short-list.
Other credentials include holding degree qualifications and/or industry awards, being published in local and national magazines.
Personality When you meet your shortlist of photographers make sure that you ask enough questions to find out what to expect from them on the day. For example, can they be discreet so as not to disturb the ceremony, can they be organised to keep to your timetable and not put your catering plans at risk! And can they be flexible when plans change at short notice, such as shooting indoors because of inclement weather.
Camera equipment and data storage are absolutely critical questions. Without getting into technical conversations it is worth posing two questions: What is the range of equipment being used and does this include back-up cameras and lenses? And where will the digital files be stored and for how long? Sign a wedding contract and check the terms and conditions to ensure that you: get the types of photographs that you require and that you are covered for sickness/accident that could stop your photographer attending.
Price When you have considered all of the above factors it is worth reviewing your budget against your requirements. Be careful about cost-cutting in the areas of risk i.e. somebody with little experience and only one professionallevel camera – if you have a tight budget look at other areas for savings, such as considering all levels of albums on offer or the length of time that you require your photographer for.
Style, Samples and Packages Styles of photographers can vary greatly and it is this area where your personal taste and requirements will lead the way. Make sure you agree the amount of artistic licence and freedom that you want to give your photographer. If you want some traditional style group photographs then discuss this at your first meeting to establish your wishes. Check your contract thoroughly to see if there are any limitations regarding style and/ or numbers of group shots. Regarding group shots: think carefully about how many groups you think you want – too many can mean your guests can get tired of posing and you can make your schedule very tight for getting the very important shots of you both… All professional photographers will happily arrange a meeting to show you samples of their work without any obligation to book – do take up this offer as it gives you and your partner an ideal opportunity to see what type of album and/or photographs you will get within your agreed package.

Ten Tips To Getting In Great Shape For Your Wedding Every bride wants to look stunning for her wedding day. Losing some weight and toning up in a few areas are usually high on the list of most brides to be that we speak to. But just like you plan your wedding day with a detailed checklist, it’s just as important to have a plan to achieve your weight loss and fitness goals. If you just go tearing into the gym or start a strict diet with no real plan there is a strong chance your motivation will quickly wane and you’ll drop off your programme and fail to achieve your goals. Most people make some common mistakes when trying to lose weight so I’ve put together a 10 point checklist to help you set yourself up for success.

Create A Vision
2
Set A Goal
3

4
You should create a powerful visual image of how you would like to look and feel on your wedding day. Make it something that stirs up your emotions and ensure that you can tap into your vision at will. This will serve as a powerful motivational tool to keep you on the right path.
Write down what you want to achieve and most importantly why. Simply losing weight is not a strong enough goal. You need to drill down into exactly why you want to lose weight. That reason will have an emotional tie and this makes it more powerful. You also need to write down the trade off you’ll have to make to achieve your goal. Ultimately you’re going to have to change something in your lifestyle (most probably your exercise and nutritional habits) so ybe clear on the action you have to take to succeed.
6
Focus on your nutrition
7
Be Responsible
8
Forget about the weight!
9
Take Action
10
Don’t stop
Share your Goal If you share your goal it will help to hold you accountable. Even better why not decide to start a new fitness and nutrition programme with your fiancé or your bridesmaids? On the days when you don’t quite feel like it you’ll have someone to motivate you and likewise you can do the same for them.
Start Early Exercising for 2 hours a day, every day or going on a strict calorie deprivation diet in the hope of dropping weight quickly because your wedding is imminent will last about 7 days before you burn yourself out and revert to your old habits. The way to succeed is to start early, take small steps and seek continuous and sustainable improvement. This way you’ll develop an exercise habit as you feel more energised and enjoy the feeling of being fit.
Get Good Information The weight loss industry is worth billions. Big companies spend a huge amount on marketing in order convince you to part with your cash in search of a solution. You can be sure that they spin things to their advantage! To be honest you don’t need to spend much at all. There are a few key principles of training and nutrition that, if followed correctly, will guarantee you get results. Just seek out the right information and look at what people with provable, measurable and most importantly sustainable results have done on the past.
Correct nutrition is by far the most important factor in effective weight loss. You cannot out train a poor diet. By correct nutrition I mean eating up to five (yes five!) meals and snacks a day of foods that provide your body with the nutrients it needs. You need to eliminate toxins, processed foods and refined sugars which all affect how the body stores fat. Do not fall for the marketing spin of ‘low fat’ products, calorie control diets or wonder shakes. They may occasionally get short term results but are completely unsustainable and do not aid your health and stress levels.
If you are currently dissatisfied with your weight or appearance you must take responsibility for it. It’s the decisions and actions (or in-action) you’ve taken in the past that lead to where you are now. Taking responsibility is incredibly empowering and will allow you to recognise that the past does not equal the future. You can change anything you want today - right now infact!
What really matters is how your body feels to you and it’s appearance. Unfortunately we’ve been conditioned by the media to care most about the needle on the scales. Rarely is it weight people want to lose. It’s fat they really want to lose. Weight and fat are completely different. Muscle is denser and more compact than fat so whilst a pound of each weighs the same, muscle occupies about one third of the space that fat does. It is muscle tone that provides the body with shape, definition and an attractive appearance.
A goal, vision or an idea are great but they are completely futile without action. To put it bluntly, the only thing that will get you fitter, leaner and healthier is being active and eating correctly. Anyone can say they are going to do something, it’s those that actually do that get results. Take a lesson from Nike here… ‘just do it’
Don’t see your wedding as the end of your fitness and weight loss programme. Think of it as the beginning and the thing that motivated you to get in great shape and stay in there for life.

Flower Pomander
8
Pinch together the folds to create the petal, glue and hold together with paperclip. Repeat steps 2 – 8 to create another 4 petals, once you have 5 you can then create your flower
11
Using the hot glue gun, stick ½ cocktail stick to the ‘seam’ of your petal
You have now created your 1st Origami flower, for this Pomander I have used 32 origami flowers (which is 160 individual petals!) Once you have all your flowers, you are ready to create your pomander.
12
Using your hot glue gun, attach your ribbon to the foam ball; make sure you use a long enough length of ribbon, as it will appear shorter once the flowers are in place.
9
Carefully glue down one side of the petal to glue on the next petal and continue until the 5th petal meets back with the 1st.
Carefully then insert your flowers into the foam ball, make sure you do this gently as if the cocktail stick breaks you can no longer use this flower. Continue step 3 until the foam ball is completely covered!
Depending on the colour of your foam ball and the colour of your flowers you may wish to paint the ball to ensure any small gaps are hardly noticeable

14
There you have your Origami Flower Pomander, this technique can be used on any size ball and with any size paper, with candelabra’s to create table centerpieces or even with handles for a Bridal bouquet!

You will need:
Four crochet hoops (minimum size of 12”)

5 A little more crafting... If you want to add a contrasting colour for the stitching, you can handstitch it. This is personal preference, as the lettering, if glued enough will be really secure.
Wow! 1 2 3
Measure out your background fabric and cut to the advised dimensions to fit around the crochet hoop. Be sure to leave a 2cm overhang.
4
Secure the material inside your hoop.
Mark the middle of each hoop, which will act as a guide for the central alignment of the lettering. Either tack this, or mark in chalk, which can easily rub off.
5
Draw out your lettering onto the felt fabric. I recommend drawing this out in reverse, so any line marks will not be seen once they are glued onto the fabric. Alternatively, draw out in chalk and sponge off any marks before gluing.
Cut out the lettering and position in the middle on the hoop to ensure each word is centrally aligned.
6
Brush the back of the lettering with PVA and stick onto the fabric. You may want to chalk a straight line to ensure the lettering is level.
7
Once the glue has dried on the lettering, you are ready to attach your choice of ribbon, twine, fishing wire etc to hang the hoops.
Escape To...
Escape to... The Maldives! What could be better to look forward to following the excitement of your very special Wedding Day. The Maldives consist of a myriad of wonderful little islands, about 200 of which are inhabited and these are engulfed into 26 natural atolls. They straddle the equator with the appearance of a garland of little gems haphazardly abandoned on the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Each resort has a shallow yet brilliant blue lagoon & is surrounded by a coral reef. The islands are blessed with relatively deserted beaches of the softest white sand, & a backdrop of gently swaying palms. Below the ocean worlds apart, a truly amazing kaleidoscope of over 900 species of fish inhabit the crystal clear waters. Grooms Speeches
6 Tips
for making your wedding speech a hit!
With my speech, I hadn’t written it down physically or prepared anything at all. My plan was just to speak from the heart and go with the moment and feeling of the room right there and then. The main reason I did this was, when hearing other grooms speeches and seeing some read from a piece of paper scribbled down, I felt they can easily come across as insincere and a little “wooden” rather than genuine. Plus if you’re the nervous type, which I am, no one wants to see a shaking piece of A4 whilst you’re trying to focus of what you’ve written and not making any eye contact with anyone in the room! I had a few main points that I wanted to say which we’re personal and specific to me and my wife. Everyone said that my speech was amazing and heartfelt which was all I wanted. Though I wouldn’t recommend that not preparing a speech I feel that it is certainly a strong way to come across sincere and genuine. If you’re going to prepare your speech properly I would recommend the following:
1 Thank the father in law for his kind words and for helping you with the wedding planning.
2 Be sure to thank the brides wider family for
welcoming you into their lives and of course thank the bridesmaids.
3 Thank your own family and how they’ve raised such a proud young man. Then thank the best man/men.

4 Mention anyone else who helped you plan and execute the day.
5 Talk openly and honestly about your new wife,
perhaps the story of how you first met and stories of your life so far together. Just avoid trying to sound like a Valentine’s Day card.
6 Finish off by handing over to the best man and
maybe introduce them with a little joke as their more than likely about to proceed to absolutely humiliate you!
