Registration & Refund Info Registration Information and Refund Guidelines Registration for Summer Recreation Programming will be available as of 12:00 noon on Friday, June 11, 2021. Register via NORA. For more information or for inquiries, please email recreation@norfolkcounty.ca or call the Customer Service Desk at 519-426-8866 ext 2233 and leave a message. Registration deadline is one week prior to program starts. Cancellations will be permitted up to one week prior to the start of the program. There will be NO REFUNDS or Pro-Rated Credits once the program begins unless Norfolk County cancels the program. Programs are subject to change/cancellation at any time.
Customer Service The Customer Service Desk at the Simcoe Recreation Centre will be open, however, with reduced hours and will have very limited face to face contact. If you have a question, the preferred method of contact at this time is by phone by calling 519-426-8866 ext 2233 or by emailing recreation@norfolkcounty.ca Please remember – DEBIT VISA cards are NOT accepted on NORA as a payment option; Visa, Mastercard, AMEX only please.

In-Person Fitness Classes Nordic Pole Walking and More! Stay Active and inspired by joining Norfolk County’s Nordic Pole walking and fitness program with a qualified instructor. Each class will include a combination of a onehour Nordic Pole walking session and toning/stretching exercises. This program is designed for all levels of fitness. Participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment, but Nordic poles will be provided if needed. Pre-registration and payment is required one week prior to class. Outdoor Fitness Stay Active and inspired by joining Norfolk County’s Outdoor Bootcamp Class with a qualified instructor. Each class will include a combination of cardio and toning exercises. Classes are designed for all levels of fitness. Equipment required: 3-5lbs weights and an exercise mat. Pre-registration and payment is required one week prior to class. Virtual Classes/Events Virtual Fitness Classes Stay Active and inspired by joining Norfolk County’s Virtual Fitness Classes with a qualified instructor from the comfort of your own home. Each class will include a combination of cardio and toning exercises and are designed for all levels of fitness. Participants will require a device with a camera and speaker to be able to see and hear the instructor ie: tablet, smartphone Virtual Classes will be hosted using Microsoft Teams. Login/participation information will be emailed to participants prior to class. Classes are offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. 3-5lbs weights and an exercise mat is required. Virtual After School Little Chefs Program Join us for a fun, on-line but hands-on activity! Participate in interactive instruction where young chefs get to chop, mix and roll their way to learn culinary skills and new recipes. Microsoft Teams meeting links and a required ingredient list will be provided to registrants one week in advance. The deadline for registering for this fun program is one week before each session. Once you are registered you will be emailed the link (Microsoft Teams) to the virtual event and a link to your bingo card. 55+ BINGO This on-line BINGO event is just like being there in person. Using Microsoft Teams, players can see each other and the caller. Summer Day Camps Register for all programs using N.O.R.A All Sports Camp This program is designed for children from 7 – 12 years of age who are interested in having fun participating in a variety of sports and games. Activities include tennis, Pickleball, KinBall, badminton, soccer and much more! Weekly activities will encourage active youth to make new friends and be active outdoors! Jr. Golfer Activity Program This program is designed for children from 7 – 12 years of age who are interested in having fun on the links, making new friends and being active outdoors! The week will consist of visits to the driving range, fun activities on the practice green, and 2 rounds of 9 holes of golf. Participants must bring their own golf clubs and no previous experience is required. This program will be held at the Port Dover Golf Club and will not run in the event of inclement weather. Summer Day Camps Summer Day Camp is a great way to learn new skills, build friendships and enjoy the outdoors! Our Norfolk County Recreation Department strives to provide exciting, inclusive and safe opportunities for children to learn, play and grow together. Outdoor locations are provided throughout Norfolk County for children between 4-12 years old. Only weekly registrations are available and all COVID protocols will be adhered to. The Recreation Dept. strives to provide programs that are accessible and inclusive. If you would like to discuss additional accommodations, and set up a plan to ensure support please contact the Recreation Coordinator - Active Adults & Inclusion at 519-426-8866 ext. 2303 Day Camp will be offered Monday-Friday from July 5 - Aug. 27 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily.

Virtual Programs Canadian Safety Council Babysitter Training Course This is a ten-hour virtual course, taught by a qualified and experienced instructor. The babysitter training course is for youth who are 12 years old or turning 12 within six months of the end of the course. All sessions must be attended and a passing grade of 75% on the final examination is required in order to receive the certificate of completion. The course material covers such topics as: • Becoming a successful babysitter • Caring for children from three months to school-aged • The behaviour and misbehaviour of children • Handling emergencies • Caring for a sick or injured child • Prevention and Basic First Aid Age: 11 - 99 Time: 10:00 a.m. - noon Location: Microsoft Teams Fee: $70 Click to register online

SOS 4 Kids! Home Alone Safety Program The Home Alone Safety for Kids program helps children and their families get ready for their child’s first steps towards independence and being without adult supervision for short periods of time. This safety program is ideally suited for children ages 9 – 12 years old. The information is relevant and current to today’s young learners. All participants will receive the Home Alone Safety For Kids manual and certificate of attendance. Virtual Programs SOS 4 Kids! My Safe Life: Personal Safety for Kids Program My Safe Life is a personal safety program designed for children 7 – 10 years. Traditional gaming, digital media, video, role play and repetition are used to educate and engage children in a fun and interactive manner. Children learn life skills that empower them to make safe, caring and respectful decisions in their everyday lives both online and offline. Participants will receive My Safe Life – Personal Safety for Kids participant manual and a wallet-sized card of completion. Topics include: • A child’s right to be safe and get help • People safety • Tricky people/inappropriate adult behaviour • Safe strangers and strangers to avoid • Bullying prevention • Being assertive and getting help from busy adults
• Basic self-defense • Building strong communities (respect, kindness, manners) • Online safety • Travel safety • Fire safety • Injury prevention • Emergencies vs non-emergencies • Basic First Aid
