Did you know that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that it may not have been the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Chances are, you’ll never look at fairy tales quite the same way again. Carried on a wave of beguiling songs, by turns hilarious, romantic and melodic, this is sure to be a crowd pleaser the whole family can enjoy!!

Get involved, and make a difference in your community and schools! Participants will work on short plays, skits, and cheers that are designed to enlighten young audiences about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, and to challenge and inspire them to live drug free. Class will culminate in Rallies held at local area schools promoting Drug Free Campuses and Neighborhoods during Red Ribbon Week. Call 392-2000 for additional information.

A Feudin' Over Yonder Y'all come out play a spell in our first ever FAMILY DINNER THEATRE. "A Feudin' Over Yonder" is a Hillbilly Comedy that will keep you on your barefoot toes. For kids, teens, and adults, this play is rich in Ozark Mountain humor with the feudin' and fussin' Fry and Papoff families, and culminates with a hoedown weddin' full of fun and fit to pacify even the orneriest one of the bunch.

Disc Golf Course

For children ages 2 to 12 years old. Your child will learn speed dribbling, multi-directional dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, and much more. The emphasis is on sportsmanship, effort, learning, and fun in a non-competitive environment.

Try this exciting sport of disc golf that is popular and similar to golf, played with “Frisbee” discs. This is an 9-hole disc golf course located at Riverview Park (401 Willow Drive). Participants will learn various skills in sport of fencing that include coordination, cooperation, and athletic abilities. Brought to you by NOR and Kern Athletic Fencing Foundation. The focus of the program is to promote youth sport participation, promote healthy development in youth, and assist youth access to learning when necessary through partnership with California State University Bakersfield faculty and staff. Fencing is open to all interested minors. Equipment rental is available as needed and incentives and financial assistance are available to qualified youth who access educational services in addition to fencing participation. Tai Chi Ba Gua Kung-Fu School Learn Tai Chi, Ba Gua and shaolin Kung-Fu under one roof. It is a fact that there are two types of Tai Chi: Real Tai Chi and false Tai Chi. Now in Bakersfield you can learn the real art of Tai Chi for optimum health and for real life self-defense skills. Also, traditional Chinese medicine will be taught because a real Tai Chi practitioner is a doctor and a warrior. For the first time in Bakersfield you can also learn the rare and secret art of Ba-Gua Chang (8 trigram palm) for health and self-defense. Ba Gua is related to Tai Chi, and said that Ba Gua is the daughter of Tai Chi. You can also learn the real art of Shaolin Kung-Fu, the famous five animal five element style, including over 20 rare and exciting martial art weapons. These classes will be taught by a high ranking sifu (teacher) who was taught by a master from New York City who was taught by the very best master’s and grandmasters from China.

Kokondo Karate is a traditional style of karate that emphasizes strikes, blocks, kicking and prearranged drills called Kata. Kokondo offers a fun environment for the entire family to learn self-defense and gain awareness of the world around them. Jukido jujitsu defends from attacks while using joint locks, chokes, and throws. Jukido takes advantage of the attacker’s strength and uses it against him.

Master Earl Absher, 8th degree black belt, teaches a combination of Tae Kwon Do, Karate, and self-defense for ages 4 to adult. Practical “real life” self protection program for all students.
