PERSONAL STATEMENT
My application for your university stems from my desire to study at one of the best architecture universities in the world and from my internationalist perspective as world traveller. It also ensues from my deep passion for art, my appreciation of architecture, and my yearning to be amongst those who create the changing skylines that form our cities. Norman Fostersaid, "Design for the present, with an awareness of the past, fora future which is essentially unknown." I can think of no better way to achieve eternity than to help create buildings of tomorrow that preserve the ideas of today.
Since childhood, I have been attracted to the distinctive national identity of a building style. A house, for example, can be indicative of a people, the time it was built, and the way a particular society functions. From my perspective, a home or building is a projection of so much more than bricks and mortar, it is the capsule in which people live, work and socialize. It is also a record of how we organize and live our lives. As a designer, I constantly find myself pondering ways to make people's lives better, both aesthetically and practically.
Art has always been my true passion and every forms of art has captivated me since I was a small child. A pencil, rulerand rubberor perhaps a sharpenerfrom time to time; those were the essential tools which followed me around as a child whilst I imagined, designed and drew my perfect, dream house. I sought pleasure, forexample, in my surroundings during my encounters with various forms of art, whether it was a building, a person, or a photograph capturing a memory. It was inevitable that I would pursue a career in design. However, it was only until recent experiences that I narrowed that choice down to becoming an architect.
Currently I’m working as an interior designer as part of my learning process and gain more experience beside the exteriors of the buildings. From here, looking at different homes and offices made me realise how designing the interior plays an important role in our lives to make our surroundings look beautiful. I have had other work experiences, such as working as sales assistant at Popular Bookstores Sdn. Bhd. Decided to put me in the real life experiences to be a responsible person in managing myself, it was important for me to learn a trade and support myself. I volunteer to help when I can. Outside of school I volunteer with Teratak Semai, an organization with collaboration with 1Malaysia For Youth (IM4U), which helping the native people of Semai build houses from scratch and implement the culture of self-build housing that helped the local people build more houses for their families with longer life span. I served my two year as architecture studio trip planner to Bangkok and Indonesia, and I used my leadership to create programs and activities that take the interest of below fifty fellow students in my classroom.
I have travelled in different countries around the world ranging from the natural beauty of Indonesia, to the ancient city of Egypt and lived in diverse states in Malaysia, which has allowed me to reflect upon extrinsic lifestyles and fully immerse myself in different school systems and cultures. As I move from one place to another, I capture the images of these cultures and designs through sketches and photographs which I collect. Time and again these mementos transport me back to distant lands. This opportunity to combine my love forart and design with acareer is once in a lifetime. Overthe last two years, I have worked at one medium-scale architecture firms in Malaysia. Through my work experience as an intern, I've come to realize that architecture is a special overpass between imagination, reality, creativity and a world of dreams. I've learned that no successful project emerges from a singular idea or person. Relatively, it requires extensive communication with a team of engineers, contractors, consultants, and the craftsmen who work on a building to achieve the greatest possible effect. Learning from the collective expertise of my team has not only illustrated how each project involves more than simply designing a building, but it has also demonstrated how creating and managing a construction project is logical, organized and defined. It was a great experience to witness the progression of so many buildings, including; beautifulhouses, apartments and office blocks. Having played apart in the creation of something so beneficial, yet so striking would surely be the best feeling in the world? The feeling that you contributed to someone's dreams.
I led University Putra Malaysia's Pavilion Design Exhibition in 2014. Going into the competition with three team memberhad participated in Pavilion Design or any extracurricular design competition like it. Our goal was to see our structures, a design we create just like in class, become a livable structure using recycled materials in the competition and future. We felt this was a valuable experience to our education as architecture students. The project was a challenge with several risks. We needed to collaborate among ourselves to research a comfortable structure design that could be built on a very small budget, and we needed to be confident that it would not tumble down in the mall or fail us in any otherway during installation at the given time. It was a challenge we enjoyed. I met with local businesses to acquire building materials and local architect to review the design. We invested weeks into the idea of seeing our design become a real structure. I enjoy studying languages, I attended German and Russian language and I have found that being multilingual has given me a certain advantage. My ambition is to contribute to society by introducing aparticular sophistication where harmony and beauty coalesce. Moreover, I am sociable, personable, and a great asset to any team. Please allow me to move forward and take my education and career to this next exciting stage.

01 YEAR 3 / FINAL YEAR DEGREE SEM 2, 2016/2017 TUTOR : RAIHAN MASKURIY + AR. SARIZAL YUSMAN + DR. WAN SRIHANI PROJECT TITLE : SAVOUR ; CUISINE HUB “ECO SUNNAH FOOD HUB” LOCATION : JALAN PUTRA, KUALA LUMPUR DURATION : 14 WEEKS (INDIVIDUAL)
Food is very important in tourism industry. Promoting food is one of the great ways of promoting a city. If clean drinking water and public sanitation were the main obstacles to social progress in the 19th-century city, a healthy diet and access to fresh food for all promises to be one of the hottest issues for the 21st century. The project is also part of this movement for better lunches, and set up a charity to bring trained cooks into hub. Fresh dinners are being advocated as a means not only of educating public about food, but also providing inner-city public with vital nutrients that are otherwise missing from their diets, with many of today’s most deprived people simultaneously malnourished and obese especially in Malaysia which is the highest obesity in Asia. This is a haunting spectre of a society in which priorities have somehow been insidiously switched, as the food industry that aggressively markets junk food to public. By actively working on the spatial dimension of food it can vitalize the city and create the places for people and one of their first needs in life. Encouraged to look into the rebranding and new concept of promotion, food preparation, serving and eating culture, with a probability of having a vertical eatery space apart from creating condusive public meeting space at the same time, space of eco-food hub thru Sunnah as the approaching concept which helped to solve eating culture and pollution issues in city. The spatial translation of these processes generate new typologies for the city, buildings or landscape.

03 YEAR 3 / FINAL YEAR DEGREE SEM 1 2016/2017 AUTODESK MALAYSIA DESIGN COMPETITION (AMDC) ADVANCED CATEGORY (FINALIST) TUTOR : PN. IDA SURINA ISMAIL PROJECT TITLE : BAKLANE RETHINKING ON NEGLECTED SPACE LOCATION : A FICTITIOUS SITE DURATION : 4 WEEKS (GROUP OF 2 PERSON)
Back lane or alley is often associated with annoying, disgusting, narrow and dark condition. It is the street between row of houses which are commonly under-appreciated by residents and community. This project is proposed to counter image of current back lane to a future back lane which are more friendly, environmentally safe and cater community to a unity. A waste of back lane is basically happened because of the designated layout of the residential area itself usually neglected the back-lane area make it become a place of crime, food dump and somehow a storage place. in urban area, green place is necessary in order to cool down the environment. Eventually this important matter ceaselessly being neglected in matter of maximising space. To provide a green space for communityis craved by everyone. For a child to grow up in good community, community space should be provided. Crime also associated with a bad image of place. Dark alley increase tendency of snatching, robbery, rape and kidnapping. The intention that raise from this project is to increase awareness and catalyse re-thinking in the area of lost space; back lane. The concept used is ‘Integration Through the Unsung Space’. Unsung space is pointing to the back-lane space. Where the back-lane space is actually required because of important function for services and also ventilation and lighting to an interior space. Issue from falling community brings this concept together where in this matter of turning a dirty, dark alley into welcoming area, it also brings together community into unity. There are 4 type of layout designated that can be used in any type of housing. These 4 different types allow a person to enjoy back lane area in a fresh environment where the back lane is designed with water feature and landscape to refresh the urban air. A connected back lane layout make the neighbourhood can easily reach each other. In the old days, Malay culture used to give some small gift to their neighbour through back lane of their house. So, by designing a connected layout can brings up the old culture to be preserved. By using Revit software in this project, its allow us to design a flexible area with fascinating and realistic materials. Revit also make easy of rendering and building up 3d model. It also can save time. Using generic model tools and curtain wall tools save time for the wall framing. Revit also provide a manufacturing dimension which make the construction easier.
04 YEAR 2 / DEGREE SEM 2 2014/2015 2015 INTERNATIONAL UNION OF ARCHITECT- PUBLIC HEALTH GROUP STUDENT COMPETITON (UIA-PHG) TUTOR : AR. SARTLY ADRE SARKUM PROJECT TITLE : LEPTOSPIROSIS MOBILE ISOLATION UNIT LOCATION : A FICTITIOUS SITE (FLOOD AREA) DURATION : 4 WEEKS (GROUP OF 3 PERSON)
This competition is to seek innovative approaches that help vurb the outbreak of communicable disease epidemics, increase people’s awareness of global impacts of ongoing or potential public health threats, and to encourage more students to be interested and engaged in health-related design by identifying a type of communicable disease that is potentially a public health concern in country, so thru this project my group focused on Leptospirosis. To develop a mobile unit that can facilitate the swift diagnosis, isolation and treatment of patients with Ebola and other communicable diseases, and safety transport infected patients to facilities that are able to provide appropriate care. Mobile Treatment Unit on treating disease epidemics as the amount of patient is important. The hovercraft are used as the main transport to treat patient in every area especially during flooded season. The unit can be expanded and arranged near to each other depending on the requirement.

The redevelopment of TNB lands in Bangsar has been brewing for years (since 2005 when first Hijjas Kasturi design of the TNB HQ was first revealed. The project was postponed after the Asian Financial Crisis. The firm competed to design Tenaga's Electri-city in Bangsar to the North of Jalan Pantai, next to the existing TNB HQ. It is learned that the existing older TNB HQ building will be retained and design would be located to the west of the building.

Semi-detached houses, or semi-d houses, are a scaled down version of terrace houses. Instead of a row of units, semi-detached houses refer to a pair of identical units that are joined by a party wall. In other words, one complex is home to two units. Because only one side wall is ta en, there are open spaces in the front, side and back .
