ABOUT THE ARTISTS Joshua Gersen, conductor A native of the New York area, Joshua Gersen recently concluded his tenure as Assistant Conductor of the New York Philharmonic. Previously he was Music Director of the New York Youth Symphony, where he led the orchestra on their first international tour in more than 50 seasons and conducted several world premieres. Joshua served as John S. and James L. Knight Foundation conducting fellow with the New World Symphony. He made his debut with the San Francisco Symphony in 2013 and has been invited back numerous times. His extensive work as a guest conductor includes a North Carolina Symphony concert in 2019, featuring Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons. Also a composer, Joshua holds degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music and the Curtis Institute of Music. His awards include a 2015 and 2016 Solti Foundation U.S. Career Assistance award.

Orion Weiss, piano Orion Weiss has performed with the Chicago and Boston symphony orchestras and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, among many others. In recent seasons, he has also appeared with The Philadelphia Orchestra, San Francisco Symphony, Pittsburgh and Toronto symphony orchestras, and in duo summer concerts with the New York Philharmonic at both Lincoln Center and the Bravo! Vail Music Festival. Named the Classical Recording Foundation Young Artist of the Year in September 2010, Joshua’s recordings include Christopher Rouse’s Seeing, with the Albany Symphony, and the complete Gershwin works for piano and orchestra, with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and JoAnn Falletta. A native of Lyndhurst, Ohio, Weiss attended the Cleveland Institute of Music. He performed with The Cleveland Orchestra and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in 1999, before he graduated from The Juilliard School in 2004. His awards include the Gilmore Young Artist Award and an Avery Fisher Career Grant.
