He has also penned over ten delightful children’s musicals for The Actors Garden in Oak Park, IL, including Good Knight, Off to Olympus, and Tut, Tut (with Denver Casado). Also an avid cocktail historian and mixologist, Dave has authored three cocktail books, including A Year of Magical Drinking. He also shares his passion for mixology through cocktail education events in the Chicago area.
PAUL LIBMAN Composer
Musical theatre is Paul’s latest stop on a journey that began with playing jazz piano, composing for television and radio commercials, and producing records. After winning the Richard Rodgers Award twice for two different musicals with collaborator Dave Hudson, Paul relocated to New York, where he currently is a member of the Lehman Engel BMI Advanced Musical Theatre Workshop. Now, having had eight successfully produced musicals, he continues to write with Dave Hudson and others. 2022 saw the premiere of Big Shot, a dance production by Broadway choreographer Chase Brock for which Paul composed 19 songs. With lyricist Jack Lechner (The Kid, Off-Broadway) and film writer/director Ron Shelton (Bull Durham, White Men Can’t Jump), he’s composing the score for a new musical based on Blaze, a 1989 movie starring Paul Newman. This summer, Paul is delighted by the return to the Northern Sky stage of Dave’s and his Cheeseheads, as well as Guys & Does, which Paul composed with book and lyrics by Doc Heide and Lee Becker.
