Music by Paul Libman Book & Lyrics by Dave Hudson

I’m going to get a little personal here. At its heart, Cheeseheads is about people being together. In it, a group of coworkers and friends come together every day to do jobs they enjoy because they get to be with each other. Spoiler alert if you haven’t seen the show: something comes along that threatens the factory, and there is a chance the workers will lose this touchstone of their lives—this work-family that means so much to them.

I’ll confess something to you: during the past three years, pretty much all of us in the theatre wondered if the same thing was going to happen to us. Were we going to lose our connection? We watched the news with perhaps more trepidation than your typical worker because our very livelihood centered around the gathering of people. Though we tried, we knew that Zoom Theatre would never be more than a makeshift, temporary solution for what we do.

At its heart, theatre is about people being together. The actors are together on stage. The audience is together in the auditorium (or here, in the beautiful outdoor amphitheater). Together, we are all part of the magical equation of live theatre where the sum of the parts equals more than the separate components. Audience + Actors + Musicians + Theatre Company = MORE. We’ve all been craving that ‘more.’ You have no idea how grateful we are to see audiences returning to complete the equation we solve each night.

Welcome to Cheeseheads! The Musical, and a hearty welcome back to the theatre! After three years, it finally feels like we’re starting to approach ‘normal’ again (or at least the new normal). We’re glad to have you back. More importantly, we are happy to be back with you, gathered together with most restrictions gone. Thank you so much for joining us. Together, we create something amazing that can’t be replicated.
