Voted Best Place for Live Music in the Midtown Diamond Awards, the Midtown Beach Music Series is back for its fourth year at North Hills! Summertime fun officially begins on Thursday, April 28th when The Embers take the stage from 6-9 pm on the Commons. Dust off your dancing shoes and head for the largest outdoor dance floor in the state, or come early and find a great spot on the cool green lawn for your beach chair. Either way, you won’t be sitting down for long with our classic beach music mix of rhythm and blues, old time rock and roll, and a touch of big band swing!

Returning for the second year, North Hills Kids turns the Commons into a colorful, soft block play area for Open Play and Creative Exercise, where moms – and dads! – can enjoy fun that’s as big as all outdoors. In addition to play, complimentary programs include the Traveling Teacher Show incorporating lessons with a craft, evening tennis lessons hosted by the Raleigh Racquet Club, See Spot Read, a canine companion reading program, and Music Storytime on the Commons with local authors reading their books.

During the spring months, when skies are blue and breezes whisper softly, you’ll find artists at their easels capturing scenes all around North Hills for entry in our growing competition. Now in its third year, the event builds to a fun-filled arts festival on the Commons with works from area artists for sale and display, silent auction, live music and an exciting “quick paint” competition with artists lined up at their easels, on the clock, and with the crowd – and judges – watching.

Friday evenings are made for kicking off the weekend with a relaxing chance to visit with friends and family, and what better way to do that than with Midtown’s Emerging Artist concert series? Staged in the pocket park at the base of the Captrust Tower where fluttering flags and the cool splash of the fountain provide the ambiance, you’ll discover an easy sense of community and some fine local musicians playing laid back acoustic sets that start the evening off on the right note.
