Find Your Story in God’s Story
Perspective
How is God changing your perspective?
Matthew 6:9 (NASB) Pray, then, in this way: “Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.” This week we are looking at our perspective on God and on ourselves so we can better see God and follow Him.
If you feel God is nudging you to go deeper, take some time between now and our next discussion to dig into His Word. Explore the Bible passages related to this session’s theme on your own, jotting your reflections in a journal or in this study guide. Want to go deeper? Select a few verses and try paraphrasing them: writing them in your own words. If you like, share them with the group the next time you meet.

Share Your Story
What is some of the false wisdom of the world that’s exposed as foolishness by God?
What life experiences shape your perspective?
What are some parts of God’s wisdom that the world calls nonsense? Have you found it hard to follow God because someone has called you a fool for following Him?
What are some ways a skewed perspective can damage relationships? How does a healthy perspective strengthen your most significant relationships? Your relationship with God?
Connect & Grow
What do we read in verses 26-31 about the perspective God gives us as his followers? How does your group help you keep your focus clear and accurate?

READ ISAIAH 6:1-8 Why is Isaiah upset in the presence of God? How does closeness to God affect your perception of him? Of yourself? Why is Isaiah so willing to respond to God’s call?
Hear God’s Story, and Create a New Story READ EPHESIANS 2:1-10
What is God calling you to? What is He calling your group to? What’s holding you back?
Read the passages together, and then discuss the following questions. Before we are “made alive in Christ” (NIV), where were we in relationship to God? How did our position change so that we could draw closer to God? What does it mean to be spiritually alive (v. 5)? How is that different from times in your life when you felt spiritually dead? What parts of life do you need to realign to have a better perspective of God? Paul wrote that we “are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (v. 10). How does that verse affect your sense of identity or perspective on your future?
