NORTHLAND, A CHURCH DISTRIBUTED OCTOBER 17-19, 2015
WHAT’S CURRENT! PRAISE!
WHEN HELPING HURTS
What if poverty isn’t just about a lack of food, money or clothing? If you have ever asked yourself that question, join Northland elder Jim Dees and his team as they host a twoday DVD seminar taught by Dr. Brian Fikkert, coauthor of “When Helping Hurts.” Together we’ll learn how to effectively help people in need — moving beyond good intentions to lasting change. Friday, October 23, 5 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, October 24, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., rooms 4206-7.
More than 175 middle schoolers with their high school and adult leaders attended the camp, which focused on the life of King David. Many decided to follow Jesus—many for the first time!
Chances are your intentions are good …
Incredible weekend at the fall middle school retreat.

YOUNG DISCIPLES STEP 2
Is your child ready for First Communion? Young Disciples Step 2 teaches children in grades two through five what it means to live as disciples of Christ. Children, alongside their parent or mentor, will explore the seven ways we respond to God for the benefit of others. This six-week study concludes with the celebration of Communion on December 6. Sundays starting October 25, 3 to 4:30 p.m., Children’s Worship Wing. Sign up at calendar.northlandchurch.net.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6, NKJV). The middle school years are a crucial time in a young person’s life. You can be someone special for a special someone. Consider being a mentor, tutor, or big brother or sister for a local middle school student.
We’re partnering with Union for Reform Judaism to serve at the Seminole Work Opportunity Program, which provides vocational, educational and communitybased employment training to adults with developmental disabilities. Sunday, November 8, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Casselberry.
Be a mentor to a middle school student.
