THE CAST Jesus
A Marriage Mess
Shepherds
Part of God’s family, uniquely designed to be cast in God’s eternal story.
A heavenly messenger of God’s. He arrives on earth on several occasions to give important announcements and tell of special events.
A prophet, son of Amoz. Living and speaking on behalf of God approximately 600 years before Christ’s birth, he foretold the arrival of the Messiah.
Despite being a descendent of King David’s, he lives an ordinary life as a local carpenter. Recently engaged to Mary, he is shocked to learn of her “improbable” pregnancy and God’s desire that he be the earthly father of Jesus.
A group of educated and respected religious leaders from foreign lands. Noting a sign in the sky (and at Herod’s behest), they embark on a journey to meet the baby Jesus.
A newly engaged teen. She is still a virgin when she is visited by an angel and told she will be giving birth to the Savior of the world.
A ragtag group of guys who live a simple life — out in the fields, protecting sheep and sleeping under the stars, one eye ever open. They are the men God chooses to first hear of the coming of Christ.
God with us. The Messiah, taking human form, entered our world as a Baby. He is the Son of God and a Son of faithful earthly parents.

A MESSAGE FROM DR. JOEL C. HUNTER, SENIOR PASTOR (Read about Pastor Joel at northlandchurch.net/joelhunter.)
SCRIPTURE FOCUS: Matthew
1:18-21 (NASB)
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly. But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”
WORSHIP FOCUS:
Worship Christ today as the Prince of Peace. God’s peace does not mean simply an absence of conflict; it means wholeness. Christ came to bring peace between God and man, to complete our salvation. God’s desire for us will always be wholeness. He will come to us in our moments of pain and vulnerability, using even our mistakes to bring us into His fullness.
THINK ABOUT IT.
Life is full of surprises, and often these surprises cause conflict in our relationships. When have you been so consumed with a situation that you missed the bigger perspective of what God was doing?
NOTES:
You're in the cast.
Tell us about YOUR role in HIS story! Let's get to know one another this holiday season by sharing what God's done in our lives. Go to share.northlandchurch.net.
Not sure where to start? Consider telling us about the most recent “surprise” event that has happened to you in a relationship?
BE IN COMMUNITY. Spark conversation in your community this week:
• Write down all your fears about your current situation. What do you notice about them? How could you pray about them? • Go back and cross off your list all those things you can’t do anything about. • N ow make a list of all the things you can do to address or improve the situation, or to help someone else who is involved.
