THE CAST Jesus

Foreigners and Mean People

Shepherds

Part of God’s family, uniquely designed to be cast in God’s eternal story.

A heavenly messenger of God’s. He arrives on earth on several occasions to give important announcements and tell of special events.

A prophet, son of Amoz. Living and speaking on behalf of God approximately 600 years before Christ’s birth, he foretold the arrival of the Messiah.

Despite being a descendent of King David’s, he lives an ordinary life as a local carpenter. Recently engaged to Mary, he is shocked to learn of her “improbable” pregnancy and God’s desire that he be the earthly father of Jesus.

A group of educated and respected religious leaders from foreign lands. Noting a sign in the sky (and at Herod’s behest), they embark on a journey to meet the baby Jesus.

A newly engaged teen. She is still a virgin when she is visited by an angel and told she will be giving birth to the Savior of the world.

A ragtag group of guys who live a simple life — out in the fields, protecting sheep and sleeping under the stars, one eye ever open. They are the men God chooses to first hear of the coming of Christ.

God with us. The Messiah, taking human form, entered our world as a Baby. He is the Son of God and a Son of faithful earthly parents.

A MESSAGE FROM DR. JOEL C. HUNTER, SENIOR PASTOR

(Read about Pastor Joel at northlandchurch.net/joelhunter.)

SCRIPTURE FOCUS:

Matthew 2:1-2 (NASB)

Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, magi from the east arrived in Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we saw His star in the east and have come to worship Him.”

Matthew 2:16 (NASB)

Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.

SHARE YOUR

STORY

Isaiah

Worship Christ today as the Author of joy. We can know this joy when we experience His salvation.

THINK ABOUT IT.

How do you identify the antagonists in your life? What do you do once you have identified them?

NOTES: You

s You're in the cast.

Tell us about YOUR role in HIS story! Let's get to know one another this holiday season by sharing what God's done in our lives. Go to share.northlandchurch.net.

Not sure where to start? Tell us about a person in your life that had a significant impact on your walk with Christ.

BE IN COMMUNITY. Spark conversation in your community this week:

• Write down all your frustrations with the antagonists in your life. What do you notice about the list? How could you pray about it? • Move all those things you can’t change to your prayer list. • Now look at the things you can do to address or improve the situation with these people. After praying about your actions and attitude, address these things this week.
