LIVING LETTERS: ENCOUNTERING PHILIPPIANS Worship Focus

Worship Christ today as the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

God highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

12,107 men and women worshiped with Northland via webcast at jails and prisons.

Each week volunteers travel to various correctional institutions throughout Central Florida, where they have the opportunity to disciple more than 150 inmates—and one another on the drive there and back.

122 participants from the greater Orlando area attended a training titled “Dignity Serves,” which addressed how to serve others with a dignified interdependence.

185 people from the greater Seminole community attended a daylong training titled “Understanding Poverty and Serving to Empower,” and 68 attended a half-day poverty simulation in The Rink.

861 people representing 50 nonprofit, government and church organizations participated in the Helping Without Hurting Seminar, learning to effectively help people in need—moving beyond good intentions to lasting change.

42,564 people from 403 different Florida cities and across 10 different states visited resourcepoint.org this year, accessing resources from more than 2,000-plus local and statewide social service and faith-based providers.

Together we worshiped God for who He is and what He has done at more than 260 live worship services at Longwood, at Oviedo, at Mount Dora and worldwide via the Web. 550 people connected through existing and forming distributed churches in Orlando.

18 local distributed churches are now up and running, with 19 local distributed churches in formation.

55 people are receiving seminary-level training via Leadership Cohorts to oversee clusters of distributed churches.

Distributed Training Centers for networks of church planters are being established in South Africa, Cuba, Haiti and Ukraine.

In Bangladesh, we trained 300 former Muslims who are planting and leading churches, and supported four church planters who have planted more than 400 churches this year alone.

We trained 200 pastors in Uganda to plant churches and continued to equip and empower a network of church planters in Guinea, Burundi, Sudan, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, India, Cuba, Ukraine, Brazil, Haiti and Bangladesh.

396 people served on 22 Distributed Journeys to 10 different countries—including Brazil, Scotland, Ukraine, Cuba, Costa Rica and Uganda. Work on the mission field included building chapels, homes and schools; providing medical services; caring for orphans and AIDS-affected children; and providing AIDS education.

Northlanders supported 75 missionaries around the globe, nationally and locally.

Teachers from many churches in Uganda and in Cuba were trained and given free resources and curriculum to teach God’s Word to the next generation.

280,000 people from 197 countries visited Northland’s website 1.8 million times.

People from more than 133 countries worshiped online more than 81,000 times. Worshipers connected with us regularly from Pakistan, Indonesia, Australia and India.

People used our daily liturgy at bible. northlandchurch.net to read daily Scripture more than 50,000 times.

More than 4,300 prayer requests were posted and Northlanders prayed over those requests 157,565 times at pray.northlandchurch.net.

Resourcewell.org, where an entire three-year children’s curriculum is hosted for free download, was visited by almost 50,000 people from 181 different countries. People speaking 113 languages and dialects, including Croatian, Slovenian and Maltese, spent a total of 430,000 minutes exploring these resources.

700-plus people were baptized, including 592 people during our Baptism Celebration and 93 inmates at the local jail.

We started worshiping with Lowell Correctional and Hernando Correctional institutions. Both sites are women-only prisons.

12,431 people have been registered in the Resource Point database, which connects those in need with resources that can help.

484 people from throughout the community have attended anti-human trafficking meetings with the Faith Alliance, representing 78 local churches and organizations.

The Faith Alliance assembled 133 backpacks filled with supplies for human trafficking survivors throughout Central Florida.

119 congregants, staff members and volunteers were trained in CPR. LifeHope served 147 families and individuals, assisting with housing, transportation, utilities and other needs.

Recipients attended budget classes and participated in weekly worship and serving projects.

18,700 pounds of groceries was donated during the Red Bag project to food pantries in Seminole County schools that feed homeless students and their families.

Northland was honored with the 2014 Champions of Hope award at the National Faith Symposium as a partner in serving others through our adoption and foster care ministry.

As part of Northland’s master of social work internship program from the University of Central Florida, eight women served at Northland’s Care Center.

Attendance at Celebrate Recovery (CR) meetings totaled more than 7,000 for the year, including 400 young people attending The Landing for Teens.

Launched this year, this is a safe place where struggling teens can acquire tools to live a Christ-centered life.

70 people either accepted Christ or rededicated their lives to Him through Celebrate Recovery.

A team from Celebrate Recovery traveled to Scotland to teach the CR curriculum to ladies in a residential drug treatment program.

3,000 congregants and their families connected at 135 neighborhood gatherings.

Our Welcome Desk volunteers and staff members spent 6,552 hours providing answers to questions and serving our congregants, as well as those in need of assistance.

Volunteers dedicated more than 28,080 hours as ushers and greeters.

Welcome team volunteers spent more than 1,200 hours following up with hundreds of first-time visitors and those responding to altar calls.

597 donors saved 1,496 lives by donating during blood drives at Longwood.

Volunteers filled more than 2,000 hours running cameras.

18 students from eight colleges around the country interned in seven departments this summer.

40 Northlanders held a “barn-siding party” for a congregant facing stage 4 cancer, installing vinyl siding on a house that was in need of repairs.

We recorded 20 terabytes of audio data, which would equate to roughly 277 miles of analog tape, for the weekend services.

(Hooray for computers!)

80 rechargeable batteries powered our wireless tech onstage. If we didn’t use rechargeable batteries, we would have used nearly 10,000 AA batteries. (Hooray for rechargeables!)

100 children’s pastors toured the Longwood facility to learn ways to create learning environments for the children in their churches.

More than 100 young artists attended Worship in the Arts Camp—which provides an encouraging environment for spiritual growth with instruction in the disciplines of music, acting, dance, visual arts and technical production— and presented an amazing program benefiting KIDStory, a ministry that distributes Bible story visuals around the world.

Children’s Church offerings exceeded $12,000, supporting local and global missions.

More than 2,000 dads and daughters bonded at the daddy-daughter dance, with 150 volunteers serving at this annual event.

1,400 people came out to the Family Fall Festival.

More than 70 fifth-grade students attended JumpStart events to build relationships and transition into Student Ministries.

Student Ministries discipled 300 high school students through SETup Crew (freshmen), Servant Leadership (grades 10 to 12) and Wednesday night Discipleship Groups.

In middle school, each of the 386 students involved is matched with a high school leader so discipleship can happen.

70 parents were trained on how to better disciple their emerging adolescents.

Two new college-age distributed churches started meeting.

Access Ministries’ Sunday school programs, for children with special needs, have grown to serve an average of 30 children each weekend.

Volunteerism has increased from 45 to 144 to accommodate growth!

Buddy Break, which provides respite care for parents who have children with special needs, has grown to serve more than 50 children monthly.

FaithAbility, a monthly Bible study and connection group for adults with intellectual disabilities, has grown to 30 participants.

FaithAbility also hosted its first full-day Bible Retreat series, with more than 40 adults with disabilities participating.

A new believers class was started for adults with intellectual disabilities.

Northland’s Early Learning Center served more than 190 children representing 150 families.

We hosted a student group from Mission to Japan, which met at Longwood to study English. Many Northlanders opened up their homes and hosted these students. (Thank you!)

Hundreds of kids accepted Jesus into their hearts at Children’s Church, and many children and babies were baptized and dedicated. The average weekly attendance for Children’s Church at Longwood was 840, with 451 volunteers participating over the year.

28 Muslim students from around the globe, seeking to learn about other cultures and belief systems, stopped by Northland to participate in a Q&A with Nathan Clark, Northland’s online minister and director of digital innovations, who talked about what Christians believe and took questions from the group.

1,000 Bibles were provided through the bookstore for the homeless and veterans. The bookstore also hosted two Fair-Trade Expos this year.

1,700 people experienced various First Principles studies as they discussed God’s Word together and participated in a unique and different approach to maturing in faith in community. First Principles leader training was conducted with more than 100 leaders.

Six theological universities and schools participated in a Theological Education Weekend in The Hub, which provided opportunities for anyone interested to connect with Christian colleges and universities that further theological understanding and higher education.

Hundreds of couples were blessed by marriage classes, including the Marriage Preparation Class, The Art of Marriage, Marriage Oneness, The Marriage Guarantee and Marriage 911.

Classes including Bible book studies, foundations of the faith classes, financial classes, peacemakers classes, parenting classes and new believers groups provided ongoing learning opportunities for developing maturity in Christ.

Affinity groups, such as Moms4Moms, Veterans for Christ, Pet Pals, Knit and Chat, Motorcycle Ministry, Single Adults, Sew and Serve, Word Weavers and Hispanic Ministry, provided fellowship and service to others and the community.

Northland at Oviedo launched NorthlandOviedo.net, averaging 600 visits a month and 400 unique visitors from all over the world.

Oviedo also participated in the annual Christmas in the City outreach, which blessed 350 families with food, gifts, clothes and more, and continued its partnership with Downtown Homeless Ministry, bringing families to Orlando to serve together twice a month.

4 distributed churches launched in Oviedo, with 10 more planned in early 2015!

Northland’s Care Ministries came alongside 1,000 people through hospital visits, Divorce Recovery, GriefShare, His Way addiction recovery ministries, women’s recovery studies and Pet Pals.

40 Northland counseling interns studying at Reformed Theological Seminary conducted more than 7,000 hours of service, counseling people and helping them through life’s issues, through a partnership with Oviedo Counseling Clinic.

Volunteer dental professionals, many of them Northlanders, saw 262 patients and performed $181,000 in free dental work at the Central Florida Dental Outreach.

Senior Life Prep Sundays January 18 through March 8, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., Gritter home, 101 Caspian Cove, Sanford. Senior Life Prep is a gathering for current high school seniors. They meet every Sunday afternoon for eight weeks for fellowship and teaching. This gathering is intended to help these students prepare for the phase of life after high school no matter what that looks like. Although most of the students will be entering college, the topics covered will not be college student specific. Food will be provided.

We want to form a relationship with your kids that will continue through their middle and high school years so we can walk alongside them and support your discipleship efforts at home.

They’ll also have a chance to connect with other kids their age who are also making the jump to LUGrox.

This is the fifth year we have offered JumpStart at Northland, and we have heard from many families how much it helped smooth this transition period.

We are offering special sessions just for parents. It’s an opportunity to get some great advice from Pastor Brian and other ministry leaders, to ask questions about our Student Ministries program, to meet other parents, and to become better equipped to disciple your child as he or she moves toward adolescence.

The parent sessions are optional. Your kids can attend JumpStart on their own if you are unable to join us for the parent portion of the program. But (spoiler alert!) we have a great program planned that you won’t want to miss.

The first JumpStart will be a pizza party, on January 24 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the grade school wing of the main campus building. We will continue to meet the fourth Saturday of the month until May. We hope to see you there!

Young Disciples Wednesdays, February 25 through April 8, 6:15 to 8 p.m., Children’s Worship Wing and The Hub Young Disciples Step 1 guides children in navigating the foundational teachings of Jesus and the apostles in a childfriendly environment. Designed to help children in grades two through five understand more about salvation, baptism and other tenets of the faith, this six-week study meets weekly and concludes with the celebration of baptism. Northland-Supported Missionaries – Stories From the Field D

id you know that our Northland congregation supports 76 missionaries around the world? These are missionaries who are planting churches and expanding the kingdom both in the United States as well as in such places as Indonesia, Brazil, Venezuela, China, Namibia, India, the Middle East, Uganda, Bangladesh and many others.

You might wonder how missionary support works.

As Northland continues to align efforts around the vision of disciple-making and church-planting, more and more resources are steered in that direction. In 2015, our structure of missionary care includes prayer, reports from the field, encouragement and various categories of financial support. Criteria for missionary support involve the same emphasis that Northland is working toward right here in Central Florida. These categories include leaders who are: • Networked worldwide.

• Established in the Distributed Training Center process.

• Able to communicate Northland’s vision and mission.

• Equipped with a church-planting focus.

• Partnering with other organizations and churches.

• Connected and working alongside a local church.

• Ministering to widows, orphans, elderly and/or the vulnerable.

Following are a couple of stories from the field on what God is doing through some of our missionaries.

Bill and Lana Wolfe of Campus Crusade for Christ (CCC) and The Jesus Film Project: The open doors to multiply kingdom impact through the use of the “Jesus” film seem wider than ever before.

Our challenge now is to keep up with what God is bringing our way. We were invited to join nine affinity group regional leaders of the International Southern Baptist Mission Board as they gathered for their yearly planning time. Every part of the world was represented by those who give direction to their 5,000 full-time missionaries. For years we have worked together, and outside of CCC, they are the largest user of the “Jesus” film. I was surprised to hear stories from three of the nine about how CCC had been the primary human instrument in their serving full time with Southern Baptists. All three trusted Christ as college students involved with CCC. They were grateful for how they learned how to share their faith and make disciples. Two had been part of our summer projects, and God had used that to call them to serve Him overseas. All nine had used the old 16-millimeter projector to show the “Jesus” film. Each one had a story of how God had used it in his country to lead people to Christ and help plant new churches. When I showed them the list of 865 languages with more than 50,000 speakers with no “Jesus” film, they started to circle specific languages for their region where the film was needed next. They would help with setup in each location and find the needed 27 voice actors for the recording.

I showed them our new solar-powered digital projector equipment, small enough to fit in a backpack, and they began to clap. Each new language we record comes with a set of the new equipment.

Scott Kelley, director of Friends of Refugees in Clarkston, Ga., wrote about some of his students in the after-school tutoring program: Jimmy has a sincere heart for God. I have spent much time helping him overcome several challenges. He has come a long way. Prayer request: He was recently robbed while walking to school. A Facebook post said he heard 10 gunshots outside his apartment. Carol is a gentle spirit and active in church and in ROTC. Prayer request: Her dad is immobile from a debilitating stroke, and her mom is unable to work due to health issues. Leslie was baptized this summer. She currently has a 4.0 grade point average. Prayer request: Her parents work hard, but have a hard life. Her dad was a lost boy of Sudan. Mary is an intelligent young lady who is striving to do well and make good choices. Prayer request: currently lives in a dangerous apartment complex, with much gang and drug activity. Jacob had straight A’s during the last school year and currently has a 4.0 grade point average. He regularly attends church. Prayer request: His mom is an addict.

Daniel, whom I helped get his first job as a cow at Chickfil-A, is in ROTC and an honors student. Prayer request: His dad has PTSD (from the war in Bosnia) and is mentally unengaged. Among our group are Muslims believing, Muslims seeking and Muslims questioning. A prayer request for the organization: We would love to help these families move to a safer community with better schools, near us if possible, and for all the kids to continue to make wise choices and discern all God has for them.

anuary 9 to 11 kicks off the National Weekend of Prayer to End Slavery and Trafficking. This weekend exists to bring awareness to the issues of human trafficking in America and inspire people of faith to stand unified in prayer that leads to action.

orthland’s Prison and Jail Ministry continues to grow, with new opportunities and people eager to serve. Even if you have not received clearance to serve in jail or prison, or if your schedule is already full, you can still play an intrinsic role in this ministry by writing a card of encouragement to an inmate. America. With annual weekend activities at the heart, that weekend seeks to bring a year-round emphasis on the issues related to human trafficking. Through empowering existing organizations, providing resources and training, and uniting the efforts of others in one collaborative grassroots movement, the that weekend is a nonstop effort to end slavery in America.

Human trafficking, consisting of labor, sex, infant and organ trafficking, is among the largest and fastest-growing criminal enterprises in the world. Today, more than 30 million people are enslaved worldwide. Labor trafficking

dominates much of the world economy, accounting for about two-thirds of the modern-day slaves. Sex trafficking affects people of all races and backgrounds. Trafficking exists in every state in our nation, in every major city and in many rural communities. In the last 10 years, efforts to eliminate or reduce trafficking have intensified on both a federal and state level, yet trafficking continues to increase.

It is morally intolerable that slavery still exists in America in the 21st century.

This year Northland is excited to take part of the National Weekend of Prayer to End Slavery and Trafficking by hosting a prayer breakfast for local officials. Faith Alliance Human Trafficking Awareness Event

Awareness Day hosts a multitude of speakers, entertainers, great food and booths from organizations all committed to ending modern-day slavery. MAKE A CONNECTION …

Mobilization at a Glance

2014 W

e’ve seen God work in amazing ways this year through Mobilization. We emphasized connection and service through providing volunteer opportunities on-site and in the community through quarterly gatherings. We helped connect hundreds of new visitors and established congregants through our ministry in The Hub. We also held our annual volunteer appreciation breakfast and enjoyed recognizing volunteers across all ministries for the work they do to serve our congregation, staff and visitors throughout the year. Following are some tangible ways we’ve seen God work this past year.

Quarterly gatherings: • Easter – We had 44 gatherings with 1,000 guests attending.

• Summer – We had 27 gatherings with 600 guests attending.

• Fall – We had 24 gatherings with 450 guests attending.

• Christmas – We had 40 gatherings with 950 guests attending.

• Total – We had 135 gatherings with approximately 3,000 congregants and their families connected at these gatherings.

Volunteers: • Nearly 500 volunteers engaged through meeting practical ministry needs on-site. * 400-plus signed up through our online platform at northlandchurch.net/volunteer. * Nearly 100 folks met through direct connection with ministry leaders after visiting The Hub. n Fun fact: We saw a big jump in the number of folks wanting to serve in our Access Ministry, both adults and children. As that population of families grows at Northland, so does our congregation’s desire to serve them. n Our top three volunteer sign-ups this year were in these ministries: • Children’s Ministries • Congregational Services • Access Ministry (for children with special needs) The Hub: • We added eight new Hub hosts throughout the year.

• Through these hosts, we served hundreds of congregants in The Hub both during weekend worship and during the week. * Here are the different connection points for these folks during the year: n Volunteer and Serve opportunities n Care and counseling ministries n Family and Student Ministries n First Principles Groups and distributed churches

n Classes and studies n Affinity groups (groups for moms, college students, veterans and young married couples, to name a few) n Opportunities to support some of Northland’s partner ministries n LifeHope n We even helped connect a few folks to job opportunities (outside of Northland). * We also worked with the HAT participants, helping them in their journey toward healing and transition. They volunteered throughout the year with several different ministries and helped us in The Hub during key weekends. * We provided an easy way for congregants to find and join First Principles Groups in their community as well as connected them with Northland lay leaders (Connectors) in an effort to find connection and relationship outside of Northland’s four walls. * We supported the distributed church vision through providing, clarifying and sharing the vision of where we are headed as a church.

Volunteer Breakfast: • More than 500 volunteers and their families came out for a free breakfast, where the only goal was to thank them and show our gratitude for all they do during the year. Through the generous donations of several organizations, we were able to have some fun giving away all kinds of raffle prizes.

As you can see, this year was an absolute blast! We are so thankful for our volunteers, hosts and YOU, our congregation. PASTOR’S BIO Dr. Joel C. Hunter has served as Northland’s senior pastor since 1985. During Pastor Hunter’s tenure, Northland has grown from 200 faithful souls to a community of 20,000 that worships around the globe. An internationally respected evangelical leader, Dr. Hunter approaches today’s issues in a biblical and balanced manner, and has championed the cause of “Compassion Issues” found in Scripture, including pro-life concerns, justice, poverty and creation care. He serves on the boards of the World Evangelical Alliance (with 420 million constituents) and the National Association of Evangelicals (with 30 million members), and is regularly featured on local and national media outlets. A longtime bridge-builder who seeks common ground for the common good, he is a frequent consultant to U.S. agencies and served during the inaugural year on the U.S. president’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. He has been married to his best friend and ministry partner, Becky, since 1972. The Hunters are parents to three sons: Joshua, Joel and Isaac (1977-2013), and are in-laws to Lisa, Lizzy and Rhonda. The Hunters have seven grandchildren: Noah, Jada, Ella, Lincoln, Luke, Lena, and Ava (2004-2010).

Northland is becoming a church of distributed churches, a family of spiritual families. More and more, the larger congregation of Northland is also comprised of smaller, distributed churches – spiritual families that form outside the walls of the building as they follow Jesus together and live out the mission of Jesus in their everyday lives.

All of Northland will continue to gather together for weekend worship services, whether in person or online, but being the church isn’t limited to the worship service. The distributed churches also form the church right where people live, as they get together in homes, in offices, on campuses or in coffee shops for meals, fellowship, the study of Scripture, prayer, service and reaching out to those not yet included (Acts 2:42-47).

About Northland, A Church Distributed WHAT WE BELIEVE The Bible

— We believe the Scripture, both Old and New Testaments, is verbally inspired of God, is inerrant in the original writings, and is the Christian’s final authority in faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16)

God

— The Trinity — We believe in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:26; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 6:8) Jesus Christ — We believe by miracle of the virgin birth that the Lord Jesus Christ, eternal Son of God, became man without ceasing to be God in order to reveal God and to redeem man. He is the substitutionary sacrifice for our sins and arose bodily from the dead for our justification. He is now exalted at the right hand of God, Head of the Church and Lord of the individual believer, fulfilling His ministry as our Great High Priest and Advocate. (Matthew 1:18-23; John 1:1-3) Holy Spirit — We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of sin, regenerates and converts sinners, and baptizes them into the church, which is the body of Christ. We believe that He indwells, guides, instructs and empowers the believer for godly living and service, and that He seals and keeps him until the Lord comes. We believe that He bestows spiritual gifts upon each one. We believe that the believer has received one or more spiritual gifts so that he might exercise them for the strengthening and outreach of the body of Christ. The practice of any gift in any gathered body shall be in keeping with the Scripture. (John 14:16-17; Ephesians 4:30; 1 Corinthians 12:7)

The Means of Salvation

— We believe that salvation from the guilt and condemnation of sin is possible only as the gift of God’s grace. It cannot be gained by good resolutions, sincere efforts, or submission to the rules, regulations or ordinances of any church, but is freely bestowed on all who put their faith in Christ and trust in the work that Christ accomplished on the cross of Calvary. All who so trust the Savior pass from death unto life, and are forgiven of their sins, accepted by the Father, and born into His family by the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. (John 5:24; Ephesians 1:67; 2:8-9; Titus 3:5; 1 Peter 1:23)

Security, Assurance and Responsibility

— We believe that all the saved, those in whom God has accomplished His transforming work of grace, are kept by His power and are thus secure in Christ forever. It is their privilege to rejoice in the assurance of their salvation. However, this assurance must not be the occasion for sin, for God in His holiness cannot tolerate persistent sin in His children, and in infinite love He corrects them. True faith in Christ is expressed by a fruitful, God-pleasing life. (John 10:2729; Romans 8:19-39; 1 John 5:13; Hebrews 12:6; Matthew 7:20; James 2:20)

Man

— We believe that man was created in the image of God, but that he sinned, incurring not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God and which is inherited by every member of Adam’s race. We believe that man is subject to the power of the devil and has within himself no possible means of recovery or salvation.

(Genesis 1:26; 1 John 1:8-10; Romans 6:23)

OUR PURPOSE: WHY WE ARE HERE From its inception in 1972, Northland has been unwavering in its purpose: To bring people to maturity in Christ.

OUR VISION: WHAT WE SEE

A vision is a clear mental picture of a preferable future. It sees the future through the eyes of faith.

It shares the perspective of the biblical writer when he wrote the following words: “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1, NASB).

Northland’s vision is to see people coming to Christ, and to be transformed together as we link locally and globally to worship and serve everywhere, every day.

OUR MISSION: WHAT WE DO

At Northland, we believe God’s call to us as a body of believers is to respond to Him for the benefit of others. There are countless ways that one can respond to God’s grace and goodness.

We have identified the following ways that we, as a church, regularly want to respond together: Worship God — John 4:21 Glorify God for who He is and what He has done.

Read the Bible — Jeremiah 1:12 Study God’s message to you often.

Share your story — 1 Peter 3:15 Tell others what God is doing in your life.

Be in community — John 13:35 Foster environments for relationship.

Pray — 1 Peter 3:12 Engage in conversation with God. Serve others — Matthew 25:40 Meet the needs of the people around you.

Live generously — Matthew 6:21 Give what God’s given you.

We believe that as we respond to God together we will be transformed into the image of Christ.

The Church

— We believe that the true church is composed of all who, through saving faith in Jesus Christ, have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit, that those who are members of the true church will be eligible for membership in the local church. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are to be observed by the church during the present age. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are acts of obedience to the Lord. Participation in them, though, is not to be regarded in any sense as a means of salvation. (Acts 2)

The Christian’s Walk

— We believe that we are called with a holy calling to walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit, and so to live in the power of the indwelling Spirit of God. The flesh (our natural desire), which in this life is never fully eradicated, must be kept by the Spirit (through our walk of faith), constantly in subjection to Christ, or it will surely manifest its presence in our lives, to the dishonor of our Lord. (Ephesians 2:10; Galatians 5:16)

The Eternal State

— We believe that the souls of those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation do, at death, immediately pass into His presence and there remain in conscious bliss until the resurrection of the body at His coming for the church, when soul and glorified body, reunited, will be associated with Him forever in glory.

We believe that unbelievers will be punished with everlasting separation from the presence of the Lord and the glory of His power. (John 3:15-16; Hebrews 9:28; Matthew 25:41-46)
