Bellakvarter is Coming Up

A new Copenhagen neighbourhood is in the making: The deserted areas outside the Bella Center are being turned into a vibrant urban area full of local residents, businesses and visitors from around the world. Construction has already started - and in the years to come, townhouses, cafÊs, appartments, parkings houses, squares and parks will come to life outside the Bella Center. And the center activities will open up to the surroundings, becoming a part of the urban scene. The transition is a '"7$,2"8,2( &<"140& 3' 8962,2( 232›74"$& ,283 quality space in a prime location.

In a fruitful convergence of ancient craftsmanship and current technology, the Tortus pottery company has firmly established itself as a force to be reckoned with in the world of Danish design. For co-founder Eric Landon the love of ceramics began at the age of fifteen. In an effort to keep the young man out of trouble, his mother bought a ceramics oven, and Eric set up his own studio ,2 8+& #"7&1&28 3' 8+& '"1,0=|7 +31& ,2 ,0;"9/&&• Wisconsin. They allow me to do certain things with the material that few potters can do. I can manipulate the clay in different ways, which results in shapes that are very precise in relation to the scale.

“My mother still treasures them to this day, Eric says. He took to the craft and made rapid progress. In high school he took a pottery class; after three weeks his teacher had nothing left to teach him. Later, four years of economic studies gave him useful skills for becoming an independent businessman. Romance brought him to Copenhagen, where he attended the Danish Design School.
