our mission: To empower the North Natomas community with sustainable transportation choices that reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and advance a thriving community.

celebrating milestones and forging the path ahead

The close of 2024 marked the conclusion of Jibe’s 2020-2024 Strategic Plan. Over the past five years, we’ve made strides in increasing the use of sustainable travel, creating a physical environment that supports active transportation, and cultivating a culture of livability.

We are excited to unveil our 2025-2029 Strategic Plan — an ambitious blueprint for the future. This new plan builds on past successes and focuses on five goals that advance our mission:

Empowering through education

Providing services that reduce car trips

Fostering placemaking

Impacting public policy and planning

Serving as a resource to the community

Together, we can reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and contribute to a thriving community. As we move forward, we look to you — our partners, neighbors, and stakeholders — to join us in making this new plan a reality.

jibe to school

Jibe partners with local schools to encourage active travel through our daily Walk and Bike to School program. In 2024, we expanded to 11 partner schools that included five weekly and two daily Walking School Buses. Our school-site programs are led by parent program coordinators and more than 55 volunteers.

As part of our programs, nearly 27% of our student enrollment walks or bikes to school at least weekly ― over 1,700 students! Students stayed motivated throughout the year with challenges like the Polar Paws Challenge, Bike Month, and International Walk to School Day.

EDUCATION FOR SAVVY, CONFIDENT STUDENTS

Jibe’s additional school-based offerings:

● Bike Tech at Inderkum High – A career-focused class teaching bike mechanics, riding, and industry skills, with nearly 100 students in five periods.

● Bike Club at Inderkum High – As Bike Tech grows, interest in this after school riding and repair club grew to almost 50 members.

● Project Ride Smart – A 10-hour, on-bike course for fifth graders, reaching more than 630 students.

● Pedestrian Education – This second-grade program taught more than 500 students how to safely cross the street and be aware of their surroundings.

jibe by bike

At no cost to the community, Bike Doc repaired over 900 bikes at schools, community events, and businesses.

Navigate Natomas connected over 170 cyclists with ride buddies, local routes, and free premium Ride with GPS app features to facilitate more trips by bike.

More than 350 people attended our Kids Bike Party, a free family event featuring a balance bike obstacle course, a 180-foot S-curved pump track, and a 3-mile joy ride.

Through our Earn-a-Bike program, participants committed to replacing car trips with bike trips for work, recreation, or errands, and earned a new bike or accessories.

More than 40 middle schoolers joined one of three weeklong Summer Bike Camp sessions, learning bike and transit skills to expand their independence and confidence.

jibe at work

Jibe helps local businesses boost employee retention, attract new sustainabilityminded customers, and strengthen the loyalty of existing ones.

In 2024, we awarded nearly $7,000 in grants to local businesses, funding the installation of 15 new bike racks at their locations.

Our California Clean Air Campaign encouraged employees at North Natomas workplaces to take action for cleaner air and less congestion, earning incentives for their efforts.

Through Saddle Up Saturdays, Jibe rewarded diners for cycling to local eateries. More than 140 riders took 246 trips to North Natomas restaurants, spending over $5,000 and supporting local businesses.

By establishing active transportation as part of their operations, North Natomas businesses can help create a healthier, more connected community.

jibe advocacy

We work with a diverse and representative community of stakeholders, partners, and leaders to generate practical solutions to transportation problems that arise in North Natomas.

Recognizing the need to meet the demand for additional public transit because of return-to-work mandates, Jibe began subsidizing a vanpool program for North Natomas residents and workers.

Jibe advocated for a connected community by participating in stakeholder meetings, writing support letters, convening residents to gain input on draft planning efforts, and delivering formal recommendations as part of local planning processes.

Additionally, Jibe offered easy-to-redeem promo codes good for free public transit fare to more than 200 riders.

jibe placemaking

Jibe contributes to North Natomas’ livability by creating communal spaces that generate interest in active transportation.

Filling a community need, Jibe helped facilitate ridership to local parks by installing 30 new bike racks at youth sport fields and play areas in North Natomas.

This year, Jibe released a children’s book set in North Natomas.

“The Walking School Bus!” features local landmarks and celebrates the joy and benefits of walking to school.

Partnering with Council District 1, we launched the “Natomas Joy Project”, an art installation featuring community members expressing what they love about our community.

The “For Each Other” campaign, produced in collaboration with Council District 1, promoted safe travel for all road users through public awareness and engagement.

More than 150 consigned and refurbished bikes were sold at our 3rd annual Jibe Bike Swap community event, providing access to bicycles and raising $4,300 for Bike Tech and Joey’s Food Locker.
