2 17 ANNUAL REPORT
The North Natomas Transportation Management Association is a nonprofit organization with the mission to foster transportation behaviors that enhance placemaking in our community through advocacy, programs, education and services.
Amplifying Your Voice
Advocacy
True advocacy means listening to those we serve and advancing the desires of the community. We seek feedback from residents and businesses to ensure they are heard both by us, and by others seeking public input. We partner with local representatives, conduct surveys, connect with industry groups, engage in conversation via social media and interact with individuals, businesses, and schools, both, in and out of our office to stay updated on key transportation issues in our community. NNTMA is proud to actively promote:
Facilitation of bike and pedestrian infrastructure and connectivity. Bicycling as a means to better transportation and health. Partnerships with schools to implement and encourage walking and biking to school. Construction of RT’s Green Line to the Airport light rail project. Increased public transportation in North Natomas.

The Flyer Shuttle commutes North Natomas residents to downtown Sacramento, and runs Monday through Friday during peak commute hours. In August, we implemented the new Connect Card option, which allows our riders to pay for their fares with a simple tap of their card. Since this implementation, we have had over 25,000 trips using the Connect Card, giving our riders an even more convenient way to get to work. Highlights include: 98,674 passenger boardings. 988 bikes carried. Riders saved $89,900 at the pump.* 23,908 pounds of CO2 were spared from the air.** *Calculated with variables from AAA and the Federal Highway Administration. **Calculation courtesy of the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District.

In October, the NNTMA welcomed a group of bicycle advocates from throughout the state of California to experience what North Natomas has to offer, via a mobile workshop during the California Bicycle Summit. The group rode throughout the area stopping at several locations to meet local officials and leaders to discuss how bicycling has evolved and become a viable transportation option.
Ride It North Natomas residents and employees logged 47,735 miles during the annual May is Bike Month campaign. On Bike to Work Day, residents stopped for free breakfast, while our partnership with Bella Bru enticed people with treats and a free bike valet on Shop, Bike, Dine Day. Our #31ReasonstoBike series encouraged and empowered our social media followers with the positive benefits of riding a bicycle. Leading up to May’s Know Your Bike Trail event, the community voted on a new name for the recently completed East Drain Canal Bike Trail. The winning name, Jackrabbit Trail, was approved by the Sacramento City Council in October!

In 2017, the North Natomas TMA embarked upon a brand identity change. In this day of quick names and fast thoughts, our long name of North Natomas Transportation Management Association is hard to use, unremarkable, and a bit confusing. A new name will re-engage those that already know us, and pull in new audiences that will benefit from our programs. We enlisted a group of stakeholders from the area to provide guidance and input on what our brand should look, feel and act like. Coming mid-year 2018, we are excited to present our new and improved name and logo.
