PAIGE and Owen

pPaige and Owen met through a mutual friend while studying at the University of Rhode Island and first got to know one another over a casual pancake night at Paige’s house. The couple began dating and fell in love while working side by side at the Coast Guard House in Narragansett. After graduation, they relocated to Boston to build their careers and a life together, and Owen ultimately proposed on a visit back to Narragansett Beach, where their love story began.

After considering several islands for their destination wedding, Paige and Owen chose Bermuda.

“From the moment we arrived, the island wrapped us in its easygoing charm,” says Paige. “The locals welcomed us with a warmth that went beyond hospitality, ensuring every detail was seamless and every moment felt personal.”

Paige shares her thoughts on the couple’s Bermuda wedding vendors.

THESE TRENDS are Blooming

Set the tone for your entire celebration. with these romantic, tropical, eco-friendly, and minimalist floral statements

bBermuda’s breathtaking coastlines and lush landscapes make the island a dream destination for couples tying the knot. 2025 wedding flower trends integrate sustainability, understated luxury, and vibrant tropical aesthetics. Bermuda’s top florist shares the ways they’re incorporating trends into weddings this year.

Sustainability remains a key priority in 2025, with couples embracing eco-friendly floral choices.  Flowers by GiMi’s Head Florist, Claire Bleeker notes that many brides are opting for locally sourced, seasonal blooms such as bougainvillea and local foliage. Dried elements like pampas grass and preserved foliage add texture while ensuring longevity and reusability. Statement floral installations remain popular, but the approach is shifting to a more natural and organic look.

“Couples want florals that seamlessly blend into the landscape rather than overpower it,” says Claire.

Asymmetrical floral arches, floating floral arrangements over pools, and whimsical ceiling gardens are just a few ways couples are incorporating floral artistry into their wedding decor.

The floral trends shaping Bermuda’s wedding scene reflect a balance of luxury, sustainability, and natural beauty. Whether embracing a grand floral statement or a simple yet elegant arrangement, the island’s floral scene is blooming with possibilities.

When it comes to color, soft, romantic hues like champagne, blush, and dusty blue continue to dominate wedding color schemes. However, bold monochromatic arrangements in vibrant coral, deep magenta, or tropical orange are emerging as striking choices.

“These colors perfectly complement Bermuda’s turquoise waters and golden sands,” says Claire.

When it comes to color, soft, romantic hues like champagne, blush, and dusty blue continue to dominate wedding color schemes.

Minimalism is redefining bridal bouquets in Bermuda. Couples are leaning toward loose, unstructured arrangements with a just-picked aesthetic. Hand-tied arrangements with flowing silk ribbons add elegance and movement, perfect for an outdoor Bermuda wedding. The minimalism trend extends to wedding florals, with a focus on quality over quantity.

Couples seeking a tropical yet modern touch are pairing exotic florals with classic blooms.

“Instead of traditional large palm leaves, we’re seeing the use of monstera, banana leaves, and delicate ferns,” shares Claire.

Proteas, heliconias, and ginger lilies mixed with orchids and roses offer a fusion of exotic and timeless elegance.

With an increasing number of couples opting for intimate destination weddings and elopements, floral arrangements are becoming more personalized. From delicate floral crowns and petite wrist corsages to floral anklets for barefoot brides, wearable flowers are adding an extra touch of romance and whimsy.

In 2025, the floral trends shaping Bermuda’s wedding scene reflect a balance of luxury, sustainability, and natural beauty. Whether embracing a grand floral statement or a simple yet elegant arrangement, the island’s floral scene is blooming with possibilities.

Welcome To Your Wedding

Follow these tips for a Bermuda-ful beginning to the next chapter of your love story. From paperwork to party planning, we’ve got you covered with our insider’s guide.

bBermuda makes a beautiful wedding day backdrop, that much is for certain. Whether you’re planning a destination wedding or you’re a Bermudian preparing for your big day on your home island, here is some needto-know info.

• File a Notice of Intended Marriage form with the Registrar General at least 15 days and no more than three months prior to the wedding day. If you download the form, it must be printed on legal-size paper — 8.5" x 14". Fill out the form and mail it to The Registrar General, Government Administration Building, 30 Parliament Street, Hamilton HM 12 Bermuda, along with final divorce decree or death certificate if you’re divorced or widowed. For more information on this process, visit www.gov. bm/getting-married-bermuda or call 441-297-7739.

• Civil ceremonies are performed by the Registrar General in a special marriage room at the

Registry General Office on weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Civil ceremonies require an additional fee of $260. Two witnesses are required for every ceremony. Registry General staff are available to act as witnesses on weekdays, but you must inform the office of your need for witnesses when you confirm your marriage appointment. For Saturday ceremonies, you must bring your own witnesses.

• Get married on the high seas aboard ships registered in Bermuda in a civil ceremony performed by the captain of the ship. Make arrangements through Royal Ocean Events, info@ royalwed.com, or P&O Cruises, celebrations@pocruise.com.

• Non-Bermudians who wish to marry in a Roman Catholic Church must meet several requirements. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Hamilton in Bermuda recommends planning at least eight to 12 months in advance. Find more information by visiting www.romancatholicbermuda. bm/information/international-marriages.

CLOCKWISE

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

“Bermuda holds a special place in our hearts as Alistair is Bermudian, with his family’s roots dating back to the 1600s. Our decision to host the events in Bermuda was not only for its stunning beauty but also to pay homage to Alistair’s family history. I had been to the island many times with Alistair and was quite taken by the island.”

NICOLA and Lamaul

nNicola and Lamaul met over their love of football while Nicola was the manager of a local Bermuda football team and Lamaul was a player. They started hanging out doing things together, from

biking to simply watching a show together with a cup of tea. The first show they watched was called “Seven Seconds” and Nicola says that's about how long it took for them to realize they had something special.

Photographer

Donovin Seymour Photography

“When we were thinking of what photographer to go with, I picked Donovin because I knew with our large wedding party of 26, and the mix of guests invited to our wedding, he would be the right fit. I wasn’t wrong! Donnie was amazing. He was patient and professional, and made sure all the best shots were captured.”

Dessert Bar

Cal The Baker

“We had a variety of dessert shooters that looked just as good as they tasted! When we were deciding what flavors to have, Cal was super helpful and responsive."

Exclusive Events & Exclusive Flowers

“Choosing an event company in Bermuda can be a tough decision and I’m so glad we chose Exclusive. From the beginning, they listened to what I wanted and made the ideas I shared with them into our fairytale wedding reality! The decor and flowers were simply magical and all the guests couldn’t stop raving over the cherry blossom trees that were under the tent.”

“With our large guest list, we had to try and make it as affordable as possible but without compromising the quality and foods we like. Soul Food gave us that and they were super accommodating to all my questions and back-and-forth emails and phone calls.”

DJ Chubb

“DJ Chubb kept the tunes going all night and our guests dancing until the very

end.”

Venue

Dockyard Victualling Yard

“We chose the Dockyard Victualling Yard because we are both Somerset people, and Lamaul grew up in Dockyard. We love the old buildings that surround the Victualling Yard and we knew they would help us achieve the romantic rustic setting we wanted.”

“Get vendors booked early. Have a “day-of person,” take one thing at a time, and be clear with vendors on what your vision is and what your budget is.”

A GUIDE TO Getting-Around

wWhether by two wheels or four, there are many ways to get out and explore the island of Bermuda.

If you’d prefer not to be behind the wheel, you can easily rely on the island’s robust public transportation options, which include buses, ferries, and taxis.

The island’s pink and blue buses are inexpensive and run regularly. Passengers wishing to pay in cash must have exact change in coins. Bus tickets, tokens, and passes are more economical than paying cash and can be purchased at many hotels and guest houses, or at the Hubert Winfield (Sparky) Lightbourne Central Bus Terminal on Washington Street in Hamilton, the Hamilton Ferry Terminal, and Visitor Information Centres.

Regular ferries run from Hamilton to points around Hamilton Harbor, and to western parishes and Dockyard. Schedules change depending on the season and

can be found at Bermuda hotels, Visitor Information Centres, or the Hamilton Ferry Terminal. Opt for a transportation pass, which gives you unlimited use on buses and ferries for various time periods ranging from one day up to three months, if you plan to use the

buses or ferries several times a day. Call 441-295-4506 for more information.

Taxis can be hired, and all taxis are metered and tariff-fixed by law. Special allinclusive pre-booked tours vary in price per person. Certified Blue Flag taxis are driven by government-certified tour guides, and are available upon request for island tours.

If you’d like to travel around the island at your own pace, renting a scooter, a bike, or a Microcar is a great way to go. You can rent these at Oleander Cycles, with locations island-wide. You might also consider The Bermuda Train Company, which offers unique, narrative trolley tours of the island in a clean, comfortable setting.

Whether you prefer the convenience of a bus or taxi, the freedom of a scooter or bike, or the scenic views from a ferry, there’s a method of transportation for everyone. With its relatively small size and commitment to environmental sustainability, getting around Bermuda is simple and enjoyable, making it easier for visitors to immerse themselves in all that this beautiful island has to offer.
