Penderyn Distillery celebrates first birthday

Llandudno’s Penderyn Distillery would like to thank everyone who helped them celebrate their first

birthday in May. “We can’t believe it’s been a year already since we first opened our doors in North

Wales,” said marketing manager Caroline Roberts. “Here’s to many more birthdays in the future! Iechyd da!” The distillery also offered a special thank you to the North Wales based suppliers who helped them organise their celebrations… Entertainment 12, Emmazing Bakes, Harpist Dylan Rowlands Telynor, Gatling Magic, Mrs Buffet Outside Catering and Mandy Jones Photography were all credited. Penderyn were also winners of the highly anticipated Wales Business Awards 2022, where they were crowned at a ceremony hosted by Chambers Wales South East, South West and Mid, held at St Fagans National Museum of History, Cardiff. Rydal’s Osborn Hall restored to former glory

After months of hard work, the Grade II listed Osborn Hall, which is the jewel in the crown of the Rydal Penrhos estate, has officially been restored to

its former glory. Something that is sure to benefit

Rydal Penrhos pupils and the wider community. With its vaulted ceiling, stained glass windows and parquet flooring, this room is steeped in history and is an outstanding

facility in term time for pupil debating, parent dinners and author visits for example. Outside of school hours it becomes a remarkable venue for a wedding or reception. The school’s commercial staff go above and beyond the call of duty during the planning of any events held in school to make sure the big day goes off without a hitch within a stunning setting. The Osborn Hall is able to hold events for up to 250 guests, and Rydal Penrhos is looking forward to hosting the North Wales Wedding Awards this autumn, which will be the first event of its kind at Rydal Penrhos since COVID-19 restrictions

were lifted. The evening will see leading event planners, photographers and other professionals within the wedding industry descend on the school for a ceremony, drinks and dinner and Rydal Penrhos is more than ready and able to add the glitz and glamour to this event. For more information about the Osborn Hall and what it can offer please email: events@rydalpenrhos.com or call 01492 530155.

Free legal clinics available

A North Wales law firm is reminding

people to sign up for two free legal clinics, when lawyers will be discussing how to make a personal injury or clinical negligence claim. Lanyon Bowdler is holding the events at the firm’s Conwy offices

on Riverside Business Park on July 13th and 21st between 10am and 4.30pm. Laura Weir (pictured), a clinical negligence specialist at Lanyon Bowdler’s Conwy office, said:

“No appointment is necessary, but we have had a lot of interest so are advising people to get in touch to book a place if possible. If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate

position of suffering either clinical negligence or personal injury, there are many questions to be answered, and advice and guidance is needed to help people know what to do next. We know that approaching a solicitor can be difficult, so our free

clinics are a great way of taking that first step – whatever circumstances

you may be in. Don’t be put off by the prospect of legal fees, as there are lots of ways to fund a claim, so come and talk to us entirely free of charge and commitment.” To make an appointment email: info@lblaw. co.uk or call 01492 557070.

Ahead of the game

Rydal Penrhos has a host of first-class sporting facilities available to hire, as Maria MacLean explains…

Rydal Penrhos has a long-standing tradition of sporting success throughout its history. The school has produced a wealth of international-calibre athletes over the years, who all built their early foundations as pupils before going on to achieve great things.

All this comes from exceptional coaching delivered by the school’s staff team, who are constantly monitoring the progress of our aspiring athletes and developing programmes to enhance conditioning and overall performance in pursuit of reaching their respective goals.

Not only this, but our pupils benefit from first-class facilities

to give them another major boost as they look to follow in the footsteps of those who’ve been so incredibly successful in years gone by. These are not only used by pupils during school time, but Rydal Penrhos is delighted to host local clubs and teams who train with us on a weekly basis and something that is going to be prevalent across the summer holidays across the stunning campus.

We are enormously proud of our community involvement at Rydal Penrhos. The school has been at the heart of the Colwyn Bay area for more than a century and this has been further strengthened in recent years as part of our strategic development plan.

This also includes Welsh youth rugby, cricket, netball and hockey squads who hold residential training camps with us. The school’s incredible New Field sporting venue – which has its own pavilion – regularly hosts Cricket Wales youth matches and has seen iconic figures such as Andrew Flintoff attend.

Rydal Penrhos has a vast array of facilities, including a Sports Hall and Fitness Suite that can be used for netball, basketball and indoor cricket nets, with the astroturf surface providing a floodlit

training area for pupils and clubs across the region to utilise.

The school also has its own outdoor cricket nets area, no fewer than five immaculate rugby pitches, seven outdoor

tennis courts, two squash courts, four Eton Fives courts and a dedicated short game golf area for anyone wishing to hone their bunker, chipping or putting skills.

If that wasn’t enough, Rydal Penrhos has an RYA accredited Sailing and Water-Sports Centre as part of our campus and this is available to visiting groups.

Our instructors can put together taster sessions or a day on the water for our more qualified visitors, which has been part

of the school’s history for more than 60 years and something pupils absolutely love all through the academic year.

So whatever you are looking for during the summer, Rydal Penrhos has the facilities to enhance your overall experience. Our staff will also be on hand to provide expert support and guidance throughout the booking and planning process. n

The school’s sporting facilities are available for evening and weekend hire and during all school holidays. For more information please email: events@rydalpenrhos.com or call 01492 530155.
