NORTH SAILS WORLDWIDE 007
Success is often the result of perfect synergy. This is the case for Formula One or the Windsurf World Cup and even the functioning of a rig. The better the individual components complement each other and the more synergies that are created, the more effective the final product will be. This has been our approach for many years and this season we have once again made significant progress. The result of this process is what we call Windsurf Technology 2007 – state-of-the-art sails and rig components, developed by constantly enhancing our best selling and test winning products while integrating completely new designs.

Research & Development Component 1
the Team Last year we put the riders at the center of our attention and celebrated the most successful team of all times. World Championship titles in all disciplines were the fruit of hard work and 100% dedication. We were also approached by more top riders to make our 2007 team the largest and most impressive lineup of top athletes in the history of our company. More riders, more victories, more tests, more feedback – there is a constant flow of information and exchange of ideas between our engineers, chief designer Kai Hopf and our pro riders.
The NORTH SAILS R&D Center on Gran Canaria is another invaluable component of our success. The Canaries host 50% of all PWA events, many of the important developments of the sport take place here and our pro riders live and train here for the largest part of the year, unless they are on tour somewhere else. The island’s proximity to the European mainland attracts windsurfers from around the world and enables us to be really close to the windsurfing community. We do listen, that’s part of our research and development work. It is the only way to recognize and satisfy the needs and wishes of ordinary riders. The results are very practical solutions that make windsurfing less complicated and more enjoyable.
Component 4
Quality
Without extraordinary performance there can be no victory. This is why Kai Hopf still invests most of his time in improving sail performance. Endless testing proves that the modular construction that has become typical of NORTH SAILS, is particularly effective in enhancing performance. We call it iMODULAR. DESIGN, or short iMD. Kai uses the most effectual material for each individual area of the sail and keeps its surface to the absolute minimum. This valuable use of cloth makes our new sails more dynamic, more durable and, in most cases, also lighter. However, high performance sails can only deliver 100% if they are trimmed properly. This is why we developed “trimming tools” such as the VTS® (leading downhaul trim), HTS® (harness position) and the boom height scale that help you to get the maximum out of your sail. These patented innovations are exclusive NORTH SAILS features that facilitate correct trim immediately for full sail power and optimum handling without the need for expert knowledge or endless testing and refining.
Performance and quality are closely related. NORTH SAILS products are renowned for their outstanding quality. Apart from our Double.Seam. Technology and the use of high grade cloth, the new iMODULAR. DESIGN also plays a major role in achieving our design goals. This method allows us to use materials with different properties exactly where we need them. As much as necessary for stability and as little as possible for weight savings. And with five years warranty on all our sails you know that you can rely on unmatched durability.

We do listen We want to create functional products that are superior to anything else on the market. That is why we not only care about the opinion and experience of pro riders, but listen to ALL windsurfers. Because we know that we can learn from everybody out there, we have launched the “R&D Game on our website at north-windsurf.com to collect the opinions of windsurfers worldwide. The best inputs will not only win a prize, they will actually be implemented in our design.

Ambassador of Windsurfing
Product Study
Kai Hopf is one of the most influential designers in the world and has been working for NORTH SAILS for more than 14 years. The Australian born ex-World Cup competitor has been faithful to the same brand longer than anybody else in the business and contributes his invaluable expertise. His new collection shows how successful sails can be further developed and optimized in an remarkable way. The introduction of modular building blocks for 2007 enabled him to transfer certain components of performance from one line of sails to the other. The brand new X_TYPE took particular advantage from this technology transfer and rose to an entirely new level.
There is hardly anybody as iconic in windsurfing as Bjรถrn Dunkerbeck. His charisma, his imposing athleticism and, last but not least, his countless successes have made him a media star and ambassador of the sport. Bjรถrn and NORTH SAILS are a perfect team as we both want to carry the fascination of windsurfing into the world.
Together with Kai Hopf, the giant of windsurfing has now developed a sail that will take him even closer to the magic threshold. This product study, that may actually become available in a very limited edition, is the first sail that is able to rotate despite of its asymmetric shape. This revolutionary speed booster has a voluminous, aerodynamically optimized double profile on one side and the classic single foil of the World Cup WARP on the other. The design combines extreme downwind speed in one direction with the familiar high speed of the WARP in the other. Of course the asymmetric WARP is only suitable for complete speed junkies, but they will have the ride of their lives!
Kai, who also develops high-grade fin profiles, continues spending a lot of time on the water to get first hand impressions and does plenty of testing himself.
04
Bjรถrn, who held the title of World Champion for no less than twelve consecutive years is already considered a living legend. Yet he was able to dramatically improve his statistics after joining NORTH SAILS. In 2005 he was not only ISA Speed World Champion but also won the PWA Slalom Overall, his 34th title. This is an historic record that no other athlete has achieved in any other sport. And apart from becoming the most successful windsurfer of all times, he also came a little closer to his personal goal of being the first to break the sonic wall of fifty knots on a windsurf board.
BEST OF 007 DOUBLE.SEAM.TECHNOLOGY A stitch in time...
In his 14 years with NORTH SAILS, Kai Hopf has introduced many innovations. This is the second time that he uses the extremely durable Double.Seam.Technology. This is Kai’s response to the conditions in Gran Canary where extremely high winds, rocky beaches and bays and brutal wipeouts call for extra tough material and best workmanship. This is why all NORTH SAILS have double seams with zigzag stitches that offer superior durability.
MINIMUM.MAST.CONCEPT Half as many masts
The MINIMUM.MAST.CONCEPT reduces the amount of masts you need by fifty percent! This helps you save money and makes it easier to transport your equipment. The solution is the lightweight CARBON.XTENDER that extends your mast by up to 50 cm without any negative influence on rigidity or performance. The Minimum.Mast.Concept permits using most of our 2007 sail lines with a single mast!
iMODULAR.DESIGN
Form Follows Function
This is the result of the consistent optimization of sail design. Based on optimum performance, minimum weight and maximum durability, Kai Hopf chooses the material with the most suitable specific properties for each individual area of the sail. These properties have been carefully determined for the various stresses and functions and arranged in a modular way. iMD not only influences durability but also determines the optical appearance of the final product as a result of technical requirements. That is form following function and creating a new design!

RACE-SLALOM >>> freeride 007 The increasing number of Slalom, Speed and Supercross races on the calendar of events reflects the rising popularity of these disciplines. Furthermore, mobile GPS devices that can measure sailing speed have become readily available for windsurfers. Personal speed records and miles traveled have become an exciting challenge for everybody. It is therefore not surprising that the once most popular style of windsurfing is experiencing such a revival. True racing spirit is back with adrenaline levels rising on brutally fast downwind trips.

The new high performance Race Slalom DAYTONA carries the genes of the WARP F2006 World Cup material and excels in overwhelming race power, just like its highly praised predecessor! The fastest NORTH SAILS Race Slalom sail sets new standards in speed, rotation and rigging comfort. Three soft gliding HYPER.CAMS ensure absolute profile accuracy, create a rock solid center of effort and eliminate hard rotation. In combination with the modified TT.TOP, super stiff BOX.BATTENs and the mediumwidth conical AERO.SLEEVE mast pocket with a radical leading edge profile, the DAYTONA reaches top speeds on all race courses and catapults GPS and occasional regatta pilots into the pole position. Nevertheless, the new Daytona is surprisingly easy to handle for a missile of its caliber, which is another reason for its miraculous speed. Plus: extra amounts of tough X.PLY cloth make the new DAYTONA even more durable than all its predecessors.

battens: 6/7 cams: 2 sizes: 6.0 / 6.6 / 7.2 / 7.8 / 8.5 / 9.5
The most versatile NORTH SAILS performance sail, designed for Freeride and Widebody boards with an extra wide wind range. The new R_TYPE’s main strength is excellent acceleration from low speeds, derived from its low end profile and excellent twist dynamics. A slightly lower sail foil tension than in race sails permits easy and comfortable pumping. Sheeting in will usually suffice to get planing. The R_TYPE simply glides through wind holes! These properties make it the ideal choice for days with marginal planing conditions. The two super soft rotating HYPER.CAMS maintain a solid profile even without sufficient wind pressure and provide sufficient stability for the rider. At the same time the two cambers push the upper limit of the wind range almost into infinity. The R _TYPE is the ideal sail for the Race Board Class and officially certified for the Bic Tecno Class! For maximum weight reduction we used iMODULAR.DESIGN and only six ultra light battens (except 9.5), four of which are ultra stiff BOX.BATTENs.

KEY FEATURES
Super x / Freerace NoCam
A wider wind range and better control through the new HYPER.LEECH II and TT.TOP II ************************************** DURA.LUFF.PATCH avoids damage to the luff panel from rigging ************************************** Increased durability through solid X.PLY foot construction ************************************** One mast (460-25) fits all sizes of sails
battens: 6/7 cams: 0 sizes: 5.4 / 6.0 / 6.6 / 7.3 / 7.8 / 8.2 / 8.8
The brand new X_TYPE are extremely versatile sails that combine high speed with the easy handling and rigging of NoCam sails. Designed to win the SuperX World Cup! Our SuperX Team loves this sail’s explosive performance and perfect control in all phases of the heats. Despite its huge power, the X_Type allows the rider to fully focus on obstacles and maneuvers. The sail derives its potential from the new HYPER.LEECH II and the more active twist of the TT.TOP II. This improves the entire rig handling and contributes substantially to a stable center of effort. Another new design feature is the PROGRESSIVE.BATTEN.CONFIGURATION with varying numbers of battens according to sail sizes and intended use. Kai Hopf used only six battens for the smaller sizes up to 6.6 for better handling due to reduced weight. And once again you can use all X_TYPE with a single 460-25 mast - one mast fits all!

Though it may not be so apparent, there is an entirely new concept behind the 2007 NATURAL. Kai Hopf took a lot of inspiration from the DUKE without loosing top speed. Similarities can be recognized in the luff curve and the new, lighter PROGRESSIVE.BATTEN.CONFIGURATION. Up to 6.6 m2, the NATURAL’s carefully balanced construction focuses on easy handling and a stable center of effort (Freemove) with only five battens. From 7.0 m2 upwards, the design favors early planing (Freeride) with easy handling and a simple rig setup. Both versions offer excellent control, a high level of comfort and lots of planing power, creating a perfect synthesis of speed, acceleration and easy handling. This design makes windsurfing simply less complicated.

freestyle << >> wave 007
There is a whole new crossover generation of young riders who take radical Freestyle moves into the waves. Difficult flatwater maneuvers suddenly appear together with classical waveriding and take on an entirely new dimension in the power of the wave. This fusion of Wave and Freestyle is the new challenge that is incredibly exciting to watch.

No other sail covers such a wide range of application from Wave to Flatwater Freestyle as perfectly as the 2007 DUKE. A power Wave sail and a Freestyle sail need similar characteristics – high planing power combined with maximum handling comfort and good control. Up to size 5.4 m2, Björn Dunkerbeck wanted the new DUKE to be designed as a powerful Wave sail. With the widest range of trim options of all our sails it can be easily toned down to suit medium weight pilots. From 5.9 m2 upwards, Kai Hopf developed the new DUKE on the basis of last year’s winning sail according to the requirements of our Freestyle riders. Only five battens, the new HYPER.LEECH II and the new TT.TOP further enhance rig control. They work together to provide extremely sensitive steering, particularly in difficult Freestyle tricks. The use of very strong X.PLY 725 in the center panel (5.4 m2 and smaller) increases durability and further underlines the sail’s Wave orientation.

The new World Cup ICE was developed for maximum performance in any kind of wave conditions. This radical five-batten wave sail remains extremely aggressive, responsive and, due to its optimized profile, very easy to handle, especially in waves. The modified HYPER.LEECH and the new TT.TOP improve twist and make the ICE more controllable. The overall weight was reduced through iMODULAR.DESIGN. Since the new ICE was designed for all World Cup spots it works just as well in Hookipa or Sylt, Gran Canaria as well as in your favorite spot. Another advantage: all ICE sizes can now be used with a single mast (400-19)!

A cult sail and monofilm-free wave classic that feels at home in any type of conditions and lasts forever! The VOODOO benefited dramatically from our new iMODULAR.DESIGN. It enabled Kai Hopf to reinforce the sail’s “frame” and apply even stronger X.PLY 112 in the upper center panel without increasing weight. This intelligent use of material in combination with double zigzag stitches makes the new VOODOO more durable than ever and takes the edge off monster waves. With its slightly elastic vinyl window, the VOODOO is also great for gusty days in extremely high wind. Plus: “one mast fits all”, the entire range of sail sizes can be used with a single mast (400-19)!

01 DOUBLE.SEAM. TECHNOLOGY
twice as durable, half the stretch ***************************** NORTH SAILS stands for windsurf technology and unsurpassed quality that increases the lifespan of your sail. Our zigzag triple stitch seams play a major role in the durability of our sails. And now we use double seams in all high stress areas that are particularly exposed to damage and crashes. This technology not only increases tear strength but also reduces stretch by up to 50%, resulting in higher profile stability and performance. Our DOUBLE. SEAM.TECHNOLOGY therefore kills two birds with one stone and substantially increases your sail’s durability.
02 RIPSTOP.FRAME.DESIGN
tech. features 007
50 years of leading sail technology For 50 years we have been dedicating all our efforts to research, development and production of top quality profiles and sails for yachting, windsurfing and kiteboarding. Almost all the titles of these various sports have been won by athletes who use our products. Revolutionary approaches and technologies were and will always be part of our success. Here is an overview of current solutions and innovations that reflect the outstanding performance of NORTH SAILS Windsurfing.
reliably stops ripping ***************************** New: RIPSTOP.FRAME.DESIGN – limits damage. It doesn’t always take huge waves to damage a sail. Sometimes you get flung off your board and the hook puts a hole into the profile. The hole itself is usually no problem but may become a risk if it widens on your way back to the beach or even causes the sail to rip across the whole panel. In the worst case your sail may be ripped in two pieces with no chance of repair. The RIPSTOP.FRAME. DESIGN uses reinforced fabrics around the entire sail, just like a frame, to prevent exactly that. The clever combination of lightweight materials at the center and very resilient fabrics at the edges keeps overall weight very low.
03 DURA.LUFF.PATCH
extremely resilient luff panel ***************************** The area around the boom cutout is particularly exposed to wear and tear as the luff panel always gets wrinkled when the mast is
30
inserted. This “accordion effect” can ultimately produce cracks in the monofilm. The new flexible DURA.LUFF.PATCH reinforces the area around the boom, creates a smooth transition to the monofilm and prevents cracks in the film.
04 HYPER.CAM (R_TYPE, DAYTONA, WARP)
soft rotation and optimum rigging comfort ***************************** It is an undisputed fact that camber-induced profiles increase performance. In the past this extra power came with the disadvantage of tedious rigging and hard beating battens. The new HYPER.CAMS put an end to these drawbacks. The plastic buckle was eliminated and the camber now rests only on the rollers to reduce friction. The rollers have a new shape that permits sliding them up any mast (independent of its diameter) instead of snapping them on. This makes our new cambered sails very easy to rig and ride and permits you to rediscover the ultimate performance that our racers feel through the latest camber technology.
05 TT.TOP II
enhanced sail control at higher wind speeds ***************************** Designer Kai Hopf derived the new TT.TOP directly from the WARP F2006 World Champion sail. He reduced the concave shape compared to last year’s model for a better distribution of loads and a more effective, three dimensional top twist. That means that in high wind conditions, the top not only twists horizontally but also vertically. Gusts are virtually neutralized and the rig remains stable in you hands.
06 VTS VISUAL.TRIM.SYSTEM
perfect trim plus a huge range of application! ***************************** Faster and more accurate tuning is impossible! Simply downhaul the sail until a luff reaches the mark “lower wind limit” or “upper wind limit” (depending on wind speed) appears at the top of the loose leech. That’s all! The patented VTS® acts like a turbo charger and ensures maximum performance in a wide variety of conditions.
07 universal.TACK.FITTING minimal forces for perfect trim ****************************** The integrated triple rollers significantly reduce trim forces on the luff panel. The brass rollers keep friction to a minimum. We use brass for its self-lubricating properties that prevent seizing. The rolls are easily removed for using a pulley hook. Raceheads can even use high-end rolls with ball bearings.
08 FLIP.ROTATING.SYSTEM
no jerking, no hard rotation! ***************************** Eliminates hard rotation and jerks. Battens rotate freely behind the mast.
09 MAST.SLEEVE.OPENER
friction free insertion of the mast into the mast pocket ***************************** A clever trick puts an end to tedious fumbling when inserting the mast. A rubber logo above the boom cutout opens the mast pocket and permits single hand insertion of the mast without the need to pull at the luff.

10 MINI.BATTEN
14 EASY.T
11 DURATECH.FOOT
15 INTELLIGENT. BATTEN.SYSTEM
eliminates unwanted leech flutter ***************************** These short and highly effective mini battens support the area in between the long battens and eliminate unwanted leech flutter.
long term warranty for the sail’s foot ***************************** The sail’s foot is repeatedly dragged across the non-skid, particularly in the case of wide boards. Our patented DURATECH. FOOT construction protects the seams in a wide plastic bar and prevents damage from the rough surface of the non-skid.
keeps the sail rolled up ***************************** An ingeniously simple fastening system keeps the sail securely rolled up. Now with an additional size mark that allows you to identify the sail’s size without unrolling it!
individual battens for increased performance! ***************************** Since each batten fulfils a special function we use different types of battens in the various batten pockets. This creates 100% stable pressure at the center of the sail, optimizes top twist (horizontally and vertically) and reduces head weight for easier handling.
18 HYPER.LEECH II
makes speed sails even faster! ***************************** Just like the wing of an airplane, the HYPER.LEECH II has a sharp bend along the trailing edge. The exact point of the bend was shifted a little higher up compared to last year’s design. This enhances load distribution at the leech and makes the top extremely responsive. The result is improved loose leech twist for more control and a more stable rig in gusts and overpowered situations.
19 TAPE.TECHNOLOGY
pre-cut tapes for best protection ***************************** All tapes are cut according to the shape of the seams instead of being bent along them. This eliminates creasing and keeps the tapes firmly on the seams.
12 BOX.BATTEN
very stiff, very light! ***************************** No more shifting center of effort! BOX.BATTENs are ultra hard and have unsurpassed bending stiffness and torsional rigidity. The hollow construction makes them light, and their high breaking strength makes them the best we have to offer.
16 HTS HARNESSLINE.TRIM.SYSTEM
never get the harness line position wrong! ***************************** No more tight forearms and fumbling around for the right harness line position! The print on the sail shows exactly where the center of the harness line should be located. Simply fit both ends symmetrically to the left and right of the print and off you go.
32
certified quality ***************************** To prove the superior durability and the unique quality of NORTH SAILS we grant a five-year warranty on all our sails (does not include monofilm).
PROGRSSIVE.BATTEN. CONFIGURATION
13 3D.TECHNOLOGY
100% profile accuracy! ***************************** Optimum aerodynamics and absolute profile accuracy is our goal. We use laser cut panels, and wrinkle and bubble free lamination on three dimensional molds, with zero manufacturing tolerance. The result is a monocoque body in exactly the same shape as the desired profile.
Five year warranty
(NATURAL, X-TYPE, R-TYPE, drive)
17 X.PLY
quite beautiful and extremely durable ***************************** No less than three different types of X.PLY with various fiber densities are used in our 2007 sails. All materials are carefully selected to match the range of application and to achieve an optimum ratio between durability and weight.
better handling, total control ***************************** The number of battens plays a major role for weight, handling and a stable center of effort. With the PROGRESSIVE.BATTEN. CONFIGURATION we introduce a system that determines the optimum number of battens for each size of sail according to the intended range of use. This helps achieve maximum performance at minimum weight.

Unmatched performance, safety and comfort have made NORTH SAILS booms and accessories the most widely sold worldwide.
booms 007
RED.SERIES The new RED with high grip SQUASH.GRIP and a diameter of only 30 mm is a great allrounder. The PRO. GRESSION II head provides high rigidity and maximum durability. The DOUBLE.PIN.LOCK system adds comfort and safety. It keeps the boom firmly locked and prevents twisting of the tubes. Each length of the RED series has an individual bending curve for a perfect match with all sail types.
POWER IS NOTHING WITHOUT CONTROL We have been working for more than 20 years on rig components that make the performance potential of modern sails controllable, that concentrate the forces of the wind and convert them in forward motion. The boom and its construction play a decisive role in keeping windsurfing from becoming a struggle. Studies confirmed what speed pros such as Björn Dunkerbeck and Karin Jaggi have always claimed – truly fast rigs are smooth to handle, particularly under extreme conditions. This requires controlled dampening to eliminate nervousness in choppy water or hard gusts and maintain a stable angle of attack. Following a similar development as in the construction of modern tennis rackets, sports shoes or skis, the designers and engineers are realizing that performance can no longer be increased by brutal stiffness alone but rather through carefully balanced dampening that permits exploiting a construction’s full inherent potential. Therefore, we are not so much interested in theoretical values of maximum performance but rather focus on actual, controllable power. This is why the combination of lightly dampening torsion heads with stiff tubes is a key feature of our boom range. This construction prevents the boom from widening and keeps the profile absolutely stable while the dampened connection to the mast ensures 100% control and optimum rig stability. Since conditions are less rough at lower wind speeds and leverage changes with increasing boom length, we developed a special race head with shorter torsion bars for the long PLATINUM World Cup booms to eliminate any possible loss of energy.

GOLD.SERIES The new GOLD booms are even stiffer, high-grade composite versions of the SILVER. While the front-piece is identical, the GOLD series has a carbon end-piece. The new single piece construction has a higher bending stiffness. The DOUBLE.PIN.LOCK enhances these properties. The 28 mm-thin, oval SQUASH.GRIP tubes with soft, high-grip coating provide extra comfort and put an end to tight forearms. All in all a very stiff, high performance boom for demanding riders.

silver.SERIES NORTH SAILS’ cold welding technology uses a special glue developed by the aerospace industry to join tubes and head and gives our SILVER the strength and rigidity of single piece booms (cannot be disassembled). This BONDED.TECHNOLOGY not only keeps weight very low, it also ensures direct power transfer without any play through the PRO.GRESSION III front-piece and the continuous rear. The new SILVER with highly comfortable oval SQUASH.GRIP also feature RDM tubes with length-specific diameters - 28 mm from 1.40 m to 1.60 m, and 30 mm above those lengths - that ensure maximum stiffness, also for the long SILVER booms. Five different boom lengths are available, each with a specific fine-tuned bending curve. SILVER booms are suitable for all sail types from Wave to Freeride.
Generally speaking, all NORTH SAILS components are compatible with and enhance the performance of almost any sail of other brands. However, there are optimum combinations that ensure that you get the maximum out of your rig. We provide clear recommendations for these combinations that help you, for instance, to find the ideal boom for a given mast. Our product lines RED, SILVER, GOLD and PLATINUM combine matching components with regards to price and performance and help you to determine how much performance you need or how much you want to spend for it. The more you are willing to invest, the lighter, more dynamic and powerful your rig will be.

PRO.GRESSION III
The new pro series in uncompromising carbon construction leaves nothing to be desired with regards to weight and stiffness. In order to satisfy the highest demands we differentiate between 1.40 m and 1.50 m long Wave to Freestyle versions and long Slalom/Formula versions with lengths between 1.80 and 2.60 m. The shorter booms come with our tried and tested PRO.GRESSION III head, whose torsion bars ensure high dampening, particularly after jumps. The long PLATINUM are equipped with the new PRO.GRESSION.RACE front piece with shorter torsion bars for more direct, yet controlled power transfer. The end pieces are also different – the shorter PLATINUM come with an inserted end piece for maximum grip comfort, whereas the long versions feature the large OVERSIZED.OUTSIDE with unmatched bending stiffness. Tube diameters are 28 mm up to 1.50 m for extra grip, and super stiff 30 mm for the longer booms.

GOLD.SERIES
Along with our range of booms we offer a highly effective set of matching masts. The individual product lines differ only in manufacturing technology and carbon content. This means that the intended use and the amount of money you want to invest are the only criterion in choosing your material. The more you spend the more performance you get and the easier the handling will be! Series
CARBON.XTENDER.silver.
Provides no less than 50 cm extra length without compromising the bending curve or durability of our masts. For the first time it is now possible to use sails with a difference of up to 3.5 m2 on a single mast (e.g. the complete R_TYPE line from 6.5 to 9.5 m2 with a single 460 mast)!
A carbon content of 75%, high-tech prepreg molding and excellent dynamics put our GOLD in the pole position of the medium range with great performance and low weight for a reasonable price. The entirely new white surface coating minimizes the effect of heating due to solar radiation and avoids thermal overstress. This reduces possible material embrittlement and keeps the bend curve absolutely constant over an extended usage period. In short, a top quality mast for all applications with increased durability.
GOLD rdm.SERIES
With the GOLD RDM we now offer a more economical version of the thin high performance PLATINUM RDM. Apart form the slightly reduced carbon content both lines are technologically identical and the GOLD RDM also features the conical top that is considerably more sensitive and dynamic than the regular cylindrical top pieces.

DROP.SHAPE For more drive, explosive dynamics and more comfortable handling our engineers developed the DROP.SHAPE. This unique mast geometry with double tapered construction and reduced diameter creates a more harmonious bending line, perceptibly higher draft stability and optimum twist. This means that DROP.SHAPE masts make better use of wind pressure and ensure 100% power transfer over the entire wind range.
CARBON.CROSS.WINDING. TECHNOLOGY (RED and SILVER)
For World Cup pros and gearheads. The PLATINUM series is our most individual and powerful product line. From 370 to 430 the focus is on Wave and Freestyle, while from 460 upwards the design is race oriented. The series is manufactured in aerospace prepreg autoclave technology, the most precise and high-tech process currently in existence. A pressure of up to ten tons creates an extremely homogenous mix of carbon and resin and reduces the resin content to a minimum. This is the reason for the incredible flex response and durability of this material. The entirely new white surface coating minimizes the effect of heating due to solar radiation and avoids thermal overstress.
AEROSPACE.PREPREG. TECHNOLOGY
PLATINUM rdm.SERIES
(GOLD and PLATINUM)
The PLATINUM RDM is the fi rst truly functional needle mast. Its dramatically increased performance is due to the new conical top piece that has a much cleaner and more sensitive fl ex than ordinary RDM tops. With the PLATINUM RDM the rig not only benefi ts from reduced drag due to the lower diameter but also takes advantage of the needle shape’s increased dynamics. This new model also comes with the new “cooler” white surface. Another advantage: the conical shape permits stowing the needle top in the base for transport. Type
