Live Entertainment Evenings

We are excited to bring live entertainment back to the halls of Northwood this fall. Our live entertainment nights will feature various performers who will be sure to make you tap your toes, sing along, or laugh aloud. This social atmosphere will give you a chance to relax and unwind among friends. Bar is open.

When: Every Wednesday at 7pm

Where: Harbourview Lounge, Halifax Campus

Cost: $3 door fee

Harbourview Tropical Night

Feel like you are on a tropical vacation without going too far from home. Sip on a tropical drink and enjoy live musical entertainment and a chance to win prizes. This social atmosphere will give you a chance to relax and unwind among friends. Bar is open.

When: Wednesday July 26 at 7pm

Where: Harbourview Lounge, Halifax Campus

Cost: $3 door fee

Country Line Dancing

Come join the fun! Line Dancing is the classic way to dance to country music. Host Ruth-Ellen Jackson will teach two simple and fun Line Dances early in the evening in preparation for the live entertainment by Triple Play. The fun really starts when we combine the live music with the Line Dance. Put your boots on and grab a cold drink for a stomping good time.

When: Wednesday, June 14

Dance Lesson, 6:00pm to 6:45pm, Live Music starts at 7:00pm

Halifax Programs

Cribbage

Join our popular Crib program this season. All playing abilities welcome, partners are not required. Players matched on a first come first served basis. Although partners not guaranteed, we try to get everyone in the game.

When: Tuesdays, 1:00 pm

Where: Northwood Activity Centre, Halifax Campus

Cost: No charge. All are welcome.

Cribbage Tournament

Enjoy our summer crib Tournament with great company. Door Prizes and Draws. This event is Open to all crib players, beginner and experienced alike. No partner required.

When: Tuesday June 13, 1:00pm

Where: Northwood Activity Centre, Halifax Campus

Cost: $5 Door Fee. All are welcome.

Elderberries

Are you 50 or older; lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or two-spirited and looking for a mixed social group beyond the bar scene? The Elderberries may be the group for you. No registration required.

When: 2nd Sunday of each month

Where: Adult Day Space, Halifax Campus

Cost: No Fee. All are welcome.

Main Street Markets

We’re bringing shopping and vendor/selling opportunities to you! We book a variety of local vendors with baked goods, jewelry, crafts, personal care items, and more. Markets take place from Monday to Thursday, pending vendor availability. Vendors please contact Community Recreation for more information

When: Monday thru Thursday

Time: 9:00am to 3:00pm

Where: Main Floor Market Space, Northwood Halifax Campus

Cost: Vendor table rental $25.00

Ukulele Club

Learn to play the Ukulele in a fun and inclusive environment. Build on your ukulele skills and learn new songs and techniques in this upbeat class. Appropriate for all levels and abilities.

When: Wednesdays, 2:00 pm

Duration: May 1 to June 14

Cost: $2 drop-in fee

Spira: Choirs for Change

Singing in group can reduce stress, improve your mood and musicianship, and build relationships. Spira is a drop-in choir active during the summer months. The group meets outdoors and is characterized by a relaxed atmosphere. There are no auditions, and no musical experience is necessary to participate. Spira is perfect for those who are looking to sing and develop their music skills and be part of a community.

When: Monday’s, 6:00pm to 8:00pm

Duration: July 17 to August 28

Where: Halifax Campus Courtyard (Harbourview Lounge for inclement weather)
