The evening was presented by Steph McGovern, the BBC Breakfast reporter most known for covering important business and finance stories as well as regularly taking to the sofa as main co-host. leaf's range NEW LEAF’S RANGE EXTENSION IMPROVES FLEET CAPABILITIES

What others think. “OVERALL, THE NEW LEAF REALLY HAS MOVED THE RELATIVELY AFFORDABLE EV GAME ON, AND IS WELL WORTH SOME SERIOUS FLEET CONSIDERATION.”

FleetNews recently review the all-new Leaf for the first time and was very impressed with the new extended range, which has improved its fleet capabilities!

Business Car

“THE LEAF HAS BEEN A BIT OF A TRAILBLAZER, AND THIS NEW VERSION EASILY PUTS IT BACK UP AMONGST THE BEST ON THE MARKET.”

Key Facts:

• P11D price from £26,435 • Benefit-in-kind from 9.0% • CO2 N/A • VED Band A • Fuel Type Electric • Top Speed 89mph

EV Fleet World

“THE NEW NISSAN LEAF IMPRESSES IN PRETTY MUCH EVERY AREA, WITH A USEFUL BOOST IN RANGE THAT WILL MAKE IT MORE APPEALING TO MORE PEOPLE."

The second-generation Nissan Leaf is now available, with first cars arriving this spring, and prices are broadly in line with the outgoing model. The NEDC range is quoted as 235 miles, but Nissan now releases figures under the new Worldwide harmonised Light vehicles Test Procedude (WLTP) test, which aim to give customers more realistic expectations. Under the WLTP combined cycle, the new Leaf achieved up to 168 miles off a single charge, but this increases up to 255 miles in city driving conditions. It’s quick too, achieving o-62mph in just 7.9 seconds. FleetNews has credited other improvements including new measure to reduce wind noise whilst driving, low centre of gravity due to battery being mounted under the car’s floor, new modern styling and increased cabin space. “While it’s still ruled out of some fleet roles, it is now capable of more than before, and is probably the best electric car now on sale.” Simon Harris, Fleet News.

AutoExpress

“BETTER LOOKS, BETTER VALUE, BETTER RANGE, STRONG PERFORMANCE AND A QUIET AND RELAXING DRIVE MAKE THE NISSAN LEAF A LEADING EV CONTENDER AGAIN.” AutoCar

“IT’S FASTER, MORE SOPHISTICATED TO DRIVE, BIGGER INSIDE AND, PERHAPS MOST IMPORTANTLY OF ALL, CAPABLE OF MUCH LONGER DISTANCES BETWEEN CHARGES. WhatCar

Kia Niro PHEV the perfe Alex Grant, from Fleet World recently reviewed Kia’s latest Niro – the Niro plug-in hybrid. Let’s take a look at some of his thoughts. SUV styling with a plug-in drivetrain; Kia has an eyecatching offer with the Niro PHEV, and it’s no surprise, with the tax breaks on offer, that most are expected to go to fleets. But this is a very different proposition to most apparently similar products. The norm for PHEVs has become a high-performance petrol engine with a short electric range to bring CO2 emissions down. This is based on the already efficient Niro hybrid, with a 50% more powerful motor (60bhp) and main-chargeable battery to keep the engine switched off for up to 36 miles. The upshot; it doesn’t become a 35mph burden when that range runs out. Of course, it’s best to use it properly. The battery takes just over two hours to charge, offering just over 30 miles of range, and there are driving modes to either prioritise battery power or save it for later. Once the battery is depleted, it become a ~60mpg Niro hybrid – efficient enough for longer trips.

What impresses most, though, is how well it’s all packaged. SUV styling cues are shrewd move, though it’s low like a hatchback to drive, and the long wheelbase offers nearSportage levels of interior space. Boot capacity suffers slightly due to the bulkier battery, but the fuel tank is only slightly smaller and the hybrid’s multi-link rear axle is carried over, so it rides well. With spaced based on the Niro 3 trim, it’s also well-equipped. In a popular segment, with a tax and fuel-efficient drive-train, there’s plenty of appeal here. MORE ON THE  DISCOVER NIRO PHEV

PEUGEOT BOXER “IN A RAPIDLY CHANGING MARKET, PEUGEOT’S BOXER CAN STILL PUNCH ABOVE ITS WEIGHT” – DAN GILKES, FLEET WORLD  CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE

The Peugeot Boxer is the largest vehicle in Peugeot’s comprehensive van range, which has become famous for being room, robust, economical and versatile.

3 Reasons to Choose the Peugeot Boxer:

1. Optimised Quality & Running Costs: The depth of rigorous testing for the Boxer has resulted in it being one step ahead of business users, leading to: • New 2.0 BlueHDi engine equipeed with the SCR catalyst, positioned upstream of the particulate filer and stop & start, cuts emissions as well as reducing fuel consumption. • New opening mechanisms, to optimise service life. A reinforced structure, for acoustic comfort

18

NORTON WAY CORPORATE • ISSUE 42 • MAR 2018

and strength • No need to replace the belt, which has been replaced by a timing chain • Longer engine servicing interval 2. Functional Features and Conversions: With a load volume of up to 17m and the best width in its class. The range consists of eight body styles including panel, crew cab, combi and minibuses. 3. Technologies and Driving Aids: The range comes with a range of safety function and driving aids for an easier driving experience, including: reversing camera, automatic high beam, 5” touchscreen, Bluetooth and 13 storage compartments.

One up and running, the Boxer cruises comfortably and easily tackles the urban grind. This is helped in part by a high-riding cab that offers plenty of visibility. When it comes to spending, the big Peugeot should be equally wallet-friendly in everyday use. Peugeot promises up to 45.6mpg combined for the 130bhp engine, with an impressively low 163 g/km of C02. Service intervals of two years or 32,000 miles should also prove popular with the finance manager.

Highlights of what Fleet World has to say:

The last few years have seen a major update to almost every van on the market, as Euro 6 standards forced many manufacturers’ hands. The Peugeot Boxer has been tweaked, most noticeably with the option of LED daytime lighting and a revised grille, but the big change was in the engine bay. Out went the former 2.2-litre engines to be replaced by a range of downsized 2.0-litre motors, though this had little effect on the outputs. The Euro 6 BlueHDI engines are offered in 109bhp, 131bhp and 161bhp ratings, with the entry level model boasting 304Nm of torque and two higher-powered engines an identical 350Nm.
