HONDA UNVEILS WORLD'S MOST SILVER CIVIC TO MARK 25 YEARS OF
Hybrid InnovationHonda has revealed a truly one-of-a-kind Civic e:HEV model to commemorate a significant milestone25 years since the Japanese automaker introduced Europe's first hybrid vehicle. This bespoke anniversary edition Civic has been coated in what is being hailed as the world's most silver paint, creating a dazzling visual spectacle that pays homage to Honda's quarter-century of hybrid technology leadership.
The Birth of the 'Silveriest' Civic
Honda's decision to create the world's 'silveriest' Civic was not merely a whimsical design choice. It was a carefully considered tribute to the silver anniversary of their hybrid technology. The project began with a collaboration between Honda and renowned artist Stuart Semple, famous for his work with vibrant and unique colours.
Stuart Semple, known for creating some of the world's most intense colours, including the 'Pinkest Pink' and the 'Blackest Black', was commissioned to develop a silver paint unlike any other. His creation for this project is truly remarkable:
Composition: The paint contains an astounding 64% real silver flakes and pigments
Medium: These silver components are suspended in an acrylic base
Application: The paint can be smoothly applied to various surfaces
Effect: It gives the appearance of solid silver metal
This bespoke silver paint is not just a colour; it's a statement. It embodies the prestige and innovation that Honda has brought to the automotive world through its hybrid technology over the past 25 years.
The Painting Process
Once Semple had perfected his 'Silveriest Silver' paint, the next challenge was to apply it to the Civic e:HEV. This task was entrusted to the custom fabrication specialists at The Syrup Room in Bournemouth, UK. Their meticulous process involved:
• Thorough cleaning and preparation of the car's bodywork
• Creating carefully controlled climate conditions for optimal paint application
• Applying multiple layers of specialist protective and removable paint
• Using high-precision spraying equipment for the final coats of 'Silveriest Silver'
The entire painting process took three days, resulting in a Civic that truly shimmers with an unprecedented silver brilliance. This painstaking attention to detail reflects Honda's commitment to excellence in every aspect of their vehicles.
Honda's Fully Electrified Mainstream Model Range
The silver anniversary Civic e:HEV is not just a standalone celebration; it represents Honda's broader commitment to electrification. As of 2024, Honda boasts a fully electrified mainstream model range in Europe, including:
• Jazz e:HEV
• HR-V e:HEV
• ZR-V e:HEV
• CR-V e:HEV
• Civic e:HEV
This lineup demonstrates Honda's dedication to providing eco-friendly options across various vehicle segments, from compact city cars to spacious SUVs.
A Silver Lining for the Future of Mobility
The unveiling of the world's 'Silveriest' Civic e:HEV is more than just a celebration of Honda's 25 years in hybrid technology; it's a bold statement about the future of mobility. This unique vehicle embodies the journey from the pioneering Insight to the current range of sophisticated e:HEV models, showcasing Honda's unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability.
THE 2025 MAZDA CX-60: REFINED ELEGANCE
Meets Advanced Technology. The automotive world is abuzz with excitement as Mazda unveils the latest iteration of its popular SUV, the 2025 Mazda CX-60.
Set to grace UK showrooms in the early summer of 2025, the updated CX-60 represents a thoughtful evolution of the award-winning model that has captivated drivers since its debut in 2022. With a focus on refinement and measured technical improvements, Mazda aims to solidify the CX-60's position as a standout offering in the premium SUV segment.
Exterior Aesthetics: A Fresh Perspective
The 2025 Mazda CX-60 retains the striking silhouette and bold presence that have become hallmarks of the model. However, keen observers will notice subtle tweaks to the exterior design that serve to refine and modernise its appearance. The front fascia, while maintaining Mazda's signature 'Kodo' design language, features slight modifications to the grille and headlight assemblies, enhancing the vehicle's sophisticated and dynamic character.
One of the most notable additions to the exterior palette is the introduction of the Zircon Sand metallic paint option. This elegant hue, previously available on other Mazda models such as the CX-30, MX-30, and Mazda3, now graces the CX-60, offering buyers a fresh and distinctive colour choice that accentuates the SUV's sculpted lines and premium aesthetic.
Interior Upgrades: Elevating Comfort and Luxury
Step inside the 2025 Mazda CX-60, and you'll immediately notice the thoughtful interior enhancements that elevate the cabin experience. The Homura grade, in particular, has received significant attention, with updates that align its interior more closely with that of the larger CX-80 model. This includes the introduction of sumptuous black Nappa leather seats, providing both comfort and a touch of luxury.
Proven Powertrains: A Continued Commitment to Efficiency
The 2025 Mazda CX-60 maintains its impressive powertrain lineup, demonstrating Mazda's confidence in the existing engine options. The range continues to feature Mazda's groundbreaking plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain, which has garnered praise for its blend of performance and efficiency since its introduction. This electrified option remains a cornerstone of the CX-60's appeal, offering drivers the flexibility of electric-only driving for short trips and the reassurance of a petrol engine for longer journeys. Alongside the PHEV, the innovative 3.3-litre inline six-cylinder diesel engine, equipped with mild hybrid technology (MHEV), continues to serve as a compelling option for those seeking long-distance efficiency and robust performance.
Chassis Enhancements: Refining the Driving Experience
While the powertrain options remain unchanged, Mazda's engineers have focused their attention on fine-tuning the CX-60's chassis and suspension setup. The rear suspension, in particular, has undergone subtle yet effective modifications aimed at enhancing both comfort and stability. These changes include the implementation of softer rear springs paired with firmer shock absorbers, a combination that strikes an improved balance between ride quality and handling precision.
Driver Assistance: Enhanced Safety and Convenience
Key enhancements include an upgraded adaptive cruise control system with improved lowspeed functionality, making stop-and-go traffic less stressful. The lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring systems have also been fine-tuned for greater accuracy and smoother interventions when needed. Additionally, the CX-60 now features an enhanced 360-degree camera system with higher resolution displays, aiding in parking and lowspeed manoeuvring in tight spaces.

Škoda cruises to a Carwow Car of the Year 2025 award as the all-new Superb hits top spot
Two of Škoda’s newest arrivals have been honoured in the 2025 Carwow Car of the Year Awards. The all-new Superb and Kodiaq, which arrived in the UK earlier this year, were both recognised as exceptional offerings in their respective classes with the Superb topping its category and the Kodiaq winning a ‘Highly Commended’ accolade. In selecting its winners, the Carwow jury considered more than 100 new models before awarding just 13 category winners.
Leading the way for Škoda was the all-new, fourth-generation Suberb, which was named as Car of the Year in Carwow’s Comfortable Cruiser category. The judging panel praised the new model for its exceptional practicality and longdistance comfort.
Explaining why the Superb topped the category, Chief Content Officer Mat Watson said: “The Superb has always been a comfortable way to get around, but the new version turns things up a notch, and brings a genuinely lovely interior into the mix, alongside the usual clever practical Škoda touches we’ve come to know and love. If you spend a lot of time cruising along the motorway, there are few more relaxing ways to get around.”
The new, second-generation Kodiaq also impressed the Carwow judges and was awarded a coveted Highly Commended honour in the Adventurers’ Choice Award category. The panel recognised the new Kodiaq’s remarkably broad skillset, all-wheel drive ability and comfort. The reviewing team also praised the performance and efficiency of the new Plug-in Hybrid model, commenting: “Family SUVs didn't get any better than the last Kodiaq - and this new model looks like it'll be even better. The plug-in hybrid model will be the best bet for company car drivers and could well prove to be a real money-saver if you regularly charge it up. It’ll do more than 60 miles on battery power alone, and can even fast-charge, making it a really useful proposition for those who want a taste of the EV life but can’t or don’t want to go full electric.”
Despite having only arrived in the UK this summer, Škoda’s new Superb and Kodiaq models have already won some of the biggest accolades in the industry. Both models have taken category wins in the prestigious Carbuyer Awards and Auto Express New Car Awards, continuing the winning streaks of their predecessors.
KIA RETAINS ‘CARMAKER OF THE YEAR’ TITLE AT MOTOR TRADER INDUSTRY AWARDS
For the second year running, Kia UK has been named ‘Carmaker of the Year’ at the Motor Trader Industry Awards 2024.
The award was announced at a ceremony on 20 November 2024 at the iconic Grosvenor House Hotel in London, attended by around 1,000 guests from across the automotive industry.
As ever, the awards were judged by Motor Trader’s respected panel of judges, with Kia named as the winner for its compelling product line-up, future vision, and customer and dealership centric business approach.
“Kia won the Carmaker of the Year award for its strong line-up of vehicles and the positive relationship it enjoys with its dealer network across the board. It is ranked highly by dealers in terms of return on investment and the current and future profitability of the franchise. Kia has consistently delivered as the top franchise in successive NFDA dealer surveys,” said the Motor Trader Industry Awards Judging Panel.
Simon Hetherington, Commercial Director, Kia UK, who picked up the award on the night, commented: “We’re thrilled to once again be recognised as Carmaker of the Year, which is testament to the strength of our dealer partnerships, business strategy and our award winning product portfolio. There has been a lot of change in the industry over the past year, especially with this being the first ZEV mandated year, which means that we have had to face more challenges that put our plans, processes
and partnerships to the test. Fortunately, we can proudly say that together with our partners, we have overcome hurdles and continue to rise to challenges whilst still being on track to complete our best-ever sales year in the UK – a truly momentous occasion. I thank our network for their hard work, perseverance and collaboration that’s enabled this success and thank you to Motor Trader for the continued recognition.”
Kia has had yet another historic year in 2024, building on the gains made in 2022 and 2023. By the end of October of this year, the brand had already topped 100,000 sales, firmly establishing a course for a new full-year record. Furthermore, the Kia Sportage is currently the second-bestselling vehicle of any make in the UK and the most popular vehicle in its class.
In addition to setting sales records, Kia introduced the EV3, its newest and most reasonably priced EV available in the UK, in 2024. More than 1,000 orders for the car were placed before it was formally introduced in showrooms after the model visited nearly all of Kia's 189 dealerships across the nation, each of which held its own "EV3 Electric Experience" events to give customers a first look and hands-on demonstration of the newest model.
Kia UK has also been recognised by its dealers as the best franchise to work with, topping the National Franchised Dealers Association (NFDA) Dealer Attitude Survey for the fourth consecutive time, ranking as the top brand in 39 out of 56 questions posed to the nation’s car dealers.
NEW MG HS SECURES OUTSTANDING SAFETY RATING
MG’s new and highly-popular HS SUV –launched this autumn – has already secured the highest possible safety rating from Euro NCAP.
Euro NCAP awarded the MG HS 1.5T a 5 Star rating with the model excelling in both adult and child occupant safety evaluation tests as well as having features designed to protect vulnerable road users.
The MG HS joins the multi award-winning MG4 Electric which also holds a 5 Star Euro NCAP safety rating as well as being awarded top marks by Green NCAP, the industry-leading European emissions assessment program.
Euro NCAP commented: “The last time Euro NCAP tested MG’s largest vehicle, the HS, was in 2019 when it received a five-star rating. Euro NCAP’s protocols have been upgraded twice since then, and MG has ensured that this mid-size SUV has kept abreast of developments, with new technologies to ensure a 2024 5-star result. This demonstrates the continuing influence of Euro NCAP on vehicle safety, and the willingness of manufacturers such as MG to respond, pushing their cars to ever-higher levels of performance.
For example, the car has good protection for pedestrians and cyclists as well as an effective autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system that responds well to a range of vulnerable road users. The car also includes protection against ‘dooring’ where a door is suddenly opened in the path of a cyclist approaching from behind. All in
all, under Euro NCAP’s 2024 testing program the car receives an impressive five-star Euro NCAP rating.”
All models in the HS range benefit from an enhanced MG Pilot package which includes key features such as Active Emergency Braking with Pedestrian and Bicycle Detection, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning System, Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist, Driver Attention Alert, Forward Collision Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Door Open Warning as standard. MG HS DCT models are also equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Traffic Jam Assist.
Unveiled at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the all-new HS petrol and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models also underline MG’s commitment to offering the best possible overall value in the SUV marketplace with a generous 7-year/150,000-km manufacturer’s warranty.
Since 1997, the European New Car Assessment Program has been the benchmark for the safety of new vehicles on sale in Europe – helping consumers to make informed decisions when choosing their next vehicle. Euro NCAP performs comprehensive, objective and independent safety evaluations, now taking into account standard assist systems and passive safety.
