Nissan X-Trail Powertrain range updated for 2019

H

eading into 2019 with emissions standards getting stricter, Nissan have updated the powertrain range available on the popular X-Trail. Two new engines are available, offering more efficiency with reduced Co2 emissions and improved fuel economy across the new range. One of the new engines is Petrol, one diesel, both linked to two transmission options. A six-speed manual, or the all-new seven-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) automatic. As always, the X-trail is still available in 2WD for those that rarely go off road and 4WD for 2

those that need the added traction. Peugeot e-208

The all-new PEUGEOT e-208 was alongside the e-LEGEND Concept as the first model from Peugeot’s new generation of full electric vehicles. It comes with a 100kW electric motor and 50kWh battery, producing a range of up to 211 miles according to WLTP procedures.

Peugeot Hybrid Range

The new Peugeot hybrid technology will complement the existing engines for the Peugeot 3008 SUV and the all-new Peugeot 508 and 508 SW. The HYBRID and HYBRID4 (4-wheel drive) engines will be available for the all-new Peugeot 508 and Peugeot 3008 SUV, respectively, late 2019.

HONDA: HR-V SPORT NOW AVAILABLE

A

Exterior design changes have been implemented to differentiate from the standard model, these include a high gloss black chrome trim, black honeycomb front grille, slim front splitter, side skirts and rear bumper. LED headlights, indicators and daytime running lights are all equipped as standard and tail lights are enhanced with a dark 'smoked' effect and black inner bars. The HR-V Sport has been upgraded on the inside as well, including exclusive combi seats in red and dark red part-leather, black roof lining, and enhanced support in the seat cushion and back rest. The comprehensive suite of safety features, Honda Sensing, is equipped as standard alongside Honda Connect with Garmin navigation, 7" touchscreen display and internet browsing capability. “The HR-V Sport adds a premium and sporty character to the HR-V range,” commented Phil Webb, Head of Car at Honda UK. “This sporty, subcompact SUV with premium design details provides our customers with greater choice for a more engaging driving experience in an immensely competitive segment of the UK car market.”

brand new HR-V was added to the line-up in April 2019. The new HR-V Sport is a new turbo-charged model benefiting from performance and design upgrades. The new HR-V Sport will be available with a manual gearbox as standard, priced from £27,595 OTR. CVT (automatic transmission) can be selected as an option, priced from £28,255 and premium paint adds £525 to the price. Both versions feature bespoke suspension and ‘Performance Damper’ tuning, alongside variable ratio electric power-assisted rack-andpinion system and Honda Agile Handling Assist technology to create a sportier, more agile and engaging driving experience. The HR-V Sport is powered by a 1.5 VTEC engine, producing 182 PS at 5,500rpm for the manual. This is an increase of 52ps compared to the standard petrol version or 62ps from the diesel. The manual transmission achieves a WLTP-compliant fuel economy of 47.9MPG and CO2 emissions of 135 g/km. The CVT achieves 47.1MPG and emits 137g/km CO2. The top speed is 134mph and 0-62mph is achieved within 7.8 seconds. 8

KIA win hat-trick of awards in 2019 Driver Power Survey

Six models from the 2019 Kia range have finished in the top 30 of the 2019 Auto Express Driver Power Survey. The Kia Picanto, Rio and Sorento were all awarded with the top spot in their respective categories and Kia was placed third in the manufacturer awards, an improved of five places from the previous year. Kia achieved its high ranking due to impressive scores in ‘Practicality and Boot Space’ and ‘Reliability and Build Quality’. The survey is completed yearly by real car owners and is the UK’s number one customer satisfaction survey, reviewing manufacturers, dealers, insurance and breakdown covers. The results provide an insight on what real cars owners actually think of the vehicles they have purchased, helping future buyers make a better purchase decision.

KIA PICANTO – BEST CITY CAR

The Kia Picanto was named the best City Car in the survey, scoring just over 91% by its owners. Key highlights leading to its victory included the Hill-start Assist Control as standard and the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist available from the ‘3’ grade.

KIA SORENTO – BEST LARGE SUV

The Kia Sorento achieved a score of 93% to win the best Large SUV category, it also finished fourth in the overall rankings of cars on sale in the UK. The Sorento finished first overall for ‘Practicality and Boot Space’ due to its seven seats and large boot capacity of 605 litres. The interior and infotainment system were also highly regarded by owners.

Other notable rankings in the Kia range include the Niro Hybrid finishing in tenth place and Sportage finishing in fourteenth. The Stonic and Ceed also ranked within the top 30.

KIA RIO – BEST SUPERMINI

The Kia Rio was awarded the top position in the Supermini category with a score of 91% from its owners. The Rio scored highlight in the ‘MPG and Running Costs’ and ‘Reliability and Build Quality’ categories, the owners were very impressed with the 1.0 T-GDi 99bhp engine due to its high fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions – 48.7mpg and 114g/km*.

NEW ENGINE NOW AVAILABLE ACROSS THE SKODA SUV RANGE.

Skoda have expanded the engine range for their SUV models with the addition of a new 187bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged fourcylinder petrol engine, available on the Karoq and Kodiaq. The new powertrain is now on sale, with prices starting from £31,820 – Karoq and £34,120 – Kodiaq. The engine is available with all-wheeldrive system and seven-speed DSG gearbox as standard, it produces 187bhp and 320Nm of torque. The Karoq achieves a 0-62mph speed of seven seconds and a

top speed of 131mph, the Kodiaq has added weight so its performance figures are slightly lower with 0-62mph time of 7.7 seconds. Economy figures for the engine are equally impressive, the Karoq returns 33.2mpg and Kodiaq achieves just north of 30mph, on a WLTP combined cycle. The new engine is only available on the Sportline trim for the Karoq and Kodiaq buyers can spec the new 2.0-litre TSI engine with SE L, Scout, Sportline and L&K variants.
