Kia e-Niro named “Gamechanger” at the 2019 Autocar awards FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE E-NIRO
T
he all-new Kia e-Niro, now available at GWR Kia, has been awarded this years “Gamechanger” at the 2019 Autocar awards. The award is only given to cars that offer something new, fresh and to a high standard. This class is highly contested as manufacturers continually innovate both in technology and style. The award for the new e-Niro comes just a year after the all-new Stinger won the same award in 2018. The all-new e-Niro combined beautifully a balance of ergonomic crossover design with outstanding electric performance, offering an impressive range of up to 282 miles. As a result, Kia delivered a 100% electric car with zero emissions, while retaining an extremely enjoyable performance. The e-Niro comes with a powerful 64kwh battery that has the ability to charge up to 80% in as little as 54 minutes. Ideal for long distance journeys.
Mark Tisshaw, Autocar Editor, commented: “The e-Niro is a battery-powered crossover that hits the sweet spot for range, performance, packaging and price. It places Kia at the very top of the practical electric class – even ahead of models seen as class-leading only a year or two ago. The e-Niro makes an ideal choice for an owner buying a first electric car or choosing one as an only car.” Collecting the award, Simon Hetherington, Commercial Director at Kia Motors (UK) Ltd said: “We are thrilled the e-Niro has been named a Game Changer by Autocar. This is a tremendous achievement for the e-Niro and indeed for Kia. The positive impact this car has had on our brand, is as strong and important as what Stinger did for us at launch in 2017. This car has come at the right time and this is evident by the huge demand we are experiencing.”

S
ince the launch in 2018, the new Honda CR-V has received a great deal of attention for all the right reasons. The latest-generation CR-V continues to prove its credentials as the world’s most popular SUV, winning the title of ‘Best Car Launched Last Year’ in the influential Auto Trader New Car Awards. The Auto Trader New Car Awards took place this May in London and collated feedback from a survey of more than 60,000 car owners. The CR-V was ranked highest by real owners for comfort and cost of servicing, thanks to the option of a 5-year service plan for £599 (inc. VAT) on all brand-new Honda models. High scores for durability and safety reflect the models recent 5-star Euro NCAP rating and comprehensive suite of Honda Sensing™ active safety technologies as standard.
Beating off competition from some big names, Honda CR-V owners were impressed by the quality of the interior, with its sleek design and contemporary, sophisticated trim. The in-car features and accessories were also cited, as the CR-V offers enhanced intuitive operation and full, seamless smartphone integration via both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.A spacious cabin with an increase of 50mm between the first- and second-row of seats, and class-leading forward visibility, also helped the CR-V to be ranked highly for comfort and quality. The new Honda CR-V is available from £25,995.00 OTR (inc. VAT) for the 1.5 VTEC Turbo S 2WD Manual, and £29,105 OTR (inc. VAT) for the 2.0 i-MMD Hybrid S 2WD.

he Superb checked in for its mid-life refresh, receiving not only cosmetic revisions, but borrowing mechanicals from the hugely successful VW Passat. The latest incarnation of the range topping Skoda Superb saloon and estate will also available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. More obvious updates to the face of the Superb include new LED Matrix headlights, a reworked radiator grille and a new front bumper. At the rear of the car, a pair of tweaked rear lamps with a new chrome boot-lid add a much-welcomed touch of class. Inside the new Superb, Skoda has made fantastic 12
use of the VW groups latest digital gauge cluster and infotainment systems, which work well along side the newly trimmed interior. Perhaps the most important update for 2019, is its use of state-of-the-art plug-in hybrid technology for the first time. The plug-in Superb will be named the Superb iV and will utilise the same hybrid technology as seen on the VW Passat GTE. A new 13 kWh battery will power the gearbox mounted electric motor, working alongside a turbocharged 1.4-litre TSI engine, for a combined power output of 215bhp.
