New Juke Teased ahead of September Release

A

lmost 10 years on from the initial release of the Nissan Juke, Nissan have been teasing the internet with snippets of the next generation 2020 Juke. This time the image is of a very sleek looking LED headlight which blends into what looks like the newest incarnation of the V-Motion grille. Few details of the next-gen Juke have been released but Nissan have described it as an ‘urban meteor with a nasty attitude’. Speaking with Autocar, Alfonso Albaisa, Nissan’s global design boss said “The new Juke will not look like the old one and it doesn’t look like the LEAF or the IMX concept either.” All we know so far, is that the Juke will retain the dual-tier headlights which appear much sleeker than the current models bubble lights. The new Juke is set to be released in September, with sales expecting to open in early 2020.

UPDATED 2020 MAZDA2 REVEALED WITH REVISED STYLING AND IMPROVED TECHNOLOGY An updated version of the Mazda 2 supermini will reach the UK later this year, with fresh styling and revised mechanicals. Mazda has announced a revised version of its Mazda 2 supermini. The updated model is already on sale in Japan, where it features a range of mechanical revisions, a handful of styling tweaks and a sprinkling of fresh technology. Most of these updates will be transferred to the UK variant when it goes on sale later this year.

Exterior Styling revisions include fresh 16-inch alloy wheels, reworked headlights, tweaked front and rear bumpers, thinner fog lamps and a new grille. The exterior has been revised to reflect the stunning new Mazda3 design.

Engines Like the old model, the updated Mazda 2 will be available in the UK with a choice of three petrol engines. The Japanese firm’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder SkyActiv-G unit will be offered with either 74bhp, 89bhp or 113bhp, and all three engines can be had with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic gearbox.

Interior The revised suspension aims to create a more comfortable ride. The interior’s refinement is better than before since the NVH levels have been lowered.Interior updates will stretch to a pair of redesigned front seats and enhanced sound deadening, which Mazda claims will improve interior comfort.

Technology Technology-wise, the new Mazda 2 will be offered with adaptive LED headlights, lane-keeping assist and an updated infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A new radar-guided cruise control system will also feature, including a stop and go function for automatic models. While in Japan sales will commence on September 12, European buyers will have to wait until early 2020 to get their hands-on Mazda’s refreshed supermini.

The revised models are due to be on sale later this year, with prices starting from around £22,000 for the Karoq and £30,000 for the Kodiaq. One feature that is being revised is Skoda’s Side Assist blind spot monitoring system, which increases both SUV’s detection ranges from 20 meters to 70 meters. The warning signals have been relocated from the mirror glass to the inside of the wingmirrors, making them more noticeable to the driver. The upcoming SUV’s will be equipped with Skoda’s adaptive chassis on front-wheel versions

of the Karoq and Kodiaq. The electronically adjustable system will automatically calibrate the damping to the current road conditions or the preferred driving style. The advanced system allows drivers to choose from three driving modes. The Karoq will be offered with Skoda’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, producing 187bph and 400Nm of torque. This engine is already featuring in the larger Kodiaq SUV; however, this will now be combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and an allwheel-drive as standard. Another update to both SUV’s will be the ‘Skoda’ lettering, which is due to take the place of the badge currently seen on the tailgate.
