READ MORE ON OUR AUTUMN AWARDS FOR KIA E-NIRO & CEED

and a training vehicle. Features such as the adjustable seats and steering wheel, alongside the good all-round view from the driving seat, allows the Ceed to match the requirements of different students. David Motton, Editor of FirstCar and judge for the Intelligent Instructor Awards, commented: “It's well priced, well equipped, safe, and affordable to run. It's also roomy enough to make a practical car for an instructor, but easy to drive for a learner. It also gets extra credit in our scoring because it's available with a dash cam as an official accessory.” The third generation Ceed occupies a unique position in the Kia line-up, perceived by buyers as the most dynamic and sporty volume car to drive, while also being one of the most reliable, practical and recognisable. Advanced safety and driver assistance systems such as High Beam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Driver Attention Warning and Forward Collision Warning are valuable features for an instructor vehicle, all of which come as standard on the latest model.

There were also personalisation stations for guest to configure their next Juke, an impressive design station with robotics that drew sketches and a technology station for guests to experience Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility features. To celebrate this important milestone, guests were also given the opportunity to win various prizes including an amazing trip for two to Japan. Nic Verneuil, Nissan Motor GB’s marketing director, said; “The Next Generation Nissan Juke looks stunning, feels amazing and delivers a connected driving experience. “Thanks to attractive monthly finance options, ownership of this new model, even for the thousands of existing Juke customers looking to upgrade from the previous generation car, is both

However, the familiar lights now feature a Y-shaped LED signature which complements Nissan's trademark V-Motion grille. A range of 11 body colours in combination with three roof contrasted colours are available and customers will also be able to choose from three optional interior themes: The Urbanizer; The Midnight; and The Juke. Nissan has added space for passengers and luggage, with rear-seat knee room increased by 5.8cm, rear headroom by 1.1cm, and 20% more luggage capacity thanks to a 422-litre boot. From launch, the Juke is available with a turbo-charged 1.0-litre petrol engine which produces 117PS and 180Nm of torque (200Nm with over torque function). A six-speed manual transmission is standard, while a new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic with paddle shifts is also available. Under the WLTP combined fuel economy cycle Nissan claims the Juke is capable of 45.6-to-47.9mpg for manual transmission versions and 44.1-to-46.3mpg for DCT models. SKODA

COMPANY CAR AWARDS 2019: RECORD RESULT FOR ŠKODA IN THE AUTO BILD READERS’ CHOICE

ŠKODA is the most successful brand in the AUTO BILD car magazine’s company car awards 2019 in Germany, succeeding with no less than four of its model ranges. The SUPERB was voted best mid-size car, the OCTAVIA is the best compact car, the KAROQ lifted ŠKODA to the top of the SUV segment and the FABIA shines as the favourite small car for professionals. All four models were voted best import car in their respective category. AUTO BILD readers were asked to vote online for their favourites in seven categories by 8 September 2019. According to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority, the nominees were vehicles that recorded the most new registrations in the first six months of 2019. The ŠKODA FABIA prevailed in the Small Car Commercial category, having been voted the favourite amongst its fellow import company car nominees. Cars in this category are primarily found in urban areas and have to be particularly practical, agile and efficient. Its advantages include its generous and versatile interior space, the particularly high level of comfort-enhancing equipment for its segment, useful accessories and its conservative fuel consumption. Compact cars are particularly popular amongst professionals who spend a lot of time on the road. The OCTAVIA is ŠKODA’s centrepiece and bestselling model range. In its third generation, the car combines a generous amount of space, a high level of functionality, numerous safety and comfort features as well as great value for money to create a harmonious overall package. The readers could not agree more with this, hence why they voted the OCTAVIA the best compact import car. In the SUV segment, the ŠKODA KAROQ took first place amongst the import models. A spacious interior and ultra-modern optional extras such as the Virtual Cockpit are convincing arguments for the compact SUV. A car must not only feature the attributes required for an office on wheels, it must also offer state-of-the-art technology at the very best prices – that’s why the ŠKODA SUPERB is the perfect car for a line manager or boss. Plenty of space for passengers and luggage as well as modern assistance systems spoke for the SUPERB, which was voted best import model in the mid-size car segment. Since May 2019, ŠKODA’s comprehensively revised flagship has also scored points with new technologies such as Predictive Cruise Control and Side Assist, as well as with its upgraded interior. What’s more, ŠKODA now also offers the SUPERB – the company’s first model in its history – as a plug-in hybrid.

2020 HONDA JAZZ HYBRID UNVEILED AT TOKYO MOTOR SHOW 2

T

he new Honda Fit, better known to UK motorists as the Honda Jazz, has made its debut at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show in Japan.Due to go on sale early in 2020, the new model has a two-motor e:HEV hybrid drive system providing all the power. The new Jazz retains the class-leading comfort, space and practical qualities that have traditionally set the car apart from supermini rivals, plus a higher quality interior with more advanced connectivity technology. What's even more intriguing, is the Honda Jazz Crosstar crossover SUV variant - an option for more adventurous Jazz fans. The new Jazz will introduce the efficiency benefits and performance of hybrid power to the mass market and accelerate Honda towards achieving its ambition of all its European mainstream models to feature electrified powertrains by 2022.

provides an exceptional blend of strong and effortless driving performance and impressive fuel economy. The system is newly developed for Jazz and provides a smooth, responsive and direct driving feel. The Jazz is the first Honda to use the new technology and the first model to get Honda’s new e:Technology branding that will eventually feature on all the firm’s electrified products.

New Jazz Crosstar Variant Another addition to the Jazz range is the new ‘Crosstar’ variant, designed to appeal to those seeking a more crossover style design. Available with the same hybrid powertrain and interior features as the standard model, the new Crosstar features increased ride height, a unique front grille design, water-resistant upholstery and integrated roof rails.

Inside the new Jazz Inside, Honda has looked to retain the previous Jazz model's impressive cabin space while adding more advanced technology. The hybrid drive system has been located within the chassis and the engine bay with the fuel tank mounted in the middle of the car to avoid impacting on the room available for passengers. The cabin gets a central display screen with three large physical air-conditioning controls below and a digital instrument cluster ahead of the driver. Honda tells us that the touchscreen offers smartphone-style swipe controls and that both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are built in. For the first time, these and other downloadable apps will be operable in the car via a wireless connection. The Jazz gets new seating, too, with wider ‘body-stabilising’ front seats that are designed to reduce fatigue on longer journeys and new deeper rear seats to boost comfort for those in the back. Honda’s popular Magic Seat design also remains in the rear, giving owners the option of folding the rear bench backs flat or flipping the bases up to create a taller load space. On the safety front, there’s an enhanced system of sensors with a high definition camera forming the basis of the Honda Sensing active safety suite. This enables an improved Collision Mitigation Brake System (CMBS), which can now detect pedestrians and cyclists at night and react to oncoming vehicles moving into the path of the Jazz. In addition, the Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) system can now operate in low speed traffic, keeping the car in lane and maintaining distance to the car in front.
