GWR KIA
All-New Kia Sorento PHEV Revealed With Low Emissions And High Power
Kia Motors has announced the All-New Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid for the first time, an ultralow emissions version of the brand’s SUV. The new model combines absolute practicality with low running costs and high power, and increases the appeal for the D-segment SUV. The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid is the second electrified model in the all-new Sorento line-up, and sits alongside the low-emissions Sorento Hybrid. The new variant combines a powerful turbocharged petrol engine with a high capacity battery pack and high output electric motor, giving drivers the ability to complete shorter drives on all-electric, zero-emissions power. The Plug-in Hybrid model accomplishes this while maximising space and adaptability, with the advanced platform that underpins the fourthgeneration Sorento designed from the outset to accommodate electrified powertrains. The new platform and large body ensure the Plug-in Hybrid model holds the generous cabin and luggage space and five- and seven-seat layouts that define other models in the line-up. In the first half of 2020, electrified models – including mild-hybrid, hybrid, battery electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles – accounted for around one in four of all Kia vehicles sold in Europe*, with sales speeding up year-on-year 4

High-power, low emissions
The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid is the lowest-emitting and most powerful model in the Sorento line-up in Europe. The core of its ‘turbo hybrid’ powertrain is its 1.6-litre T-GDi (Turbocharged Gasoline Direct injection) engine, which, on its own, produces up to 180ps and 265Nm torque. The engine is paired with a high-capacity 13.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack and a powerful electric motor which produces 66.9kW and 304Nm torque. Combined, these powertrain components enable the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid’s powertrain to produce up to 265ps and 350Nm torque. The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid’s all-electric range will be adequate to enable drivers to complete most short drives on electric power alone. Its all-electric range and CO2 emissions are pending homologation and will be confirmed by Kia closer to the car’s on-sale date. Power is sent to all four wheels through a sixspeed automatic transmission. The transmission allows the full power of the engine and motor to be transferred in parallel, with minimal loss of energy. The result is immediate acceleration response at any speed, and direct access to available battery power at higher speeds.

Design and packaging
Kia’s new midsized SUV platform, introduced with the fourth-generation Sorento and underpinning the new Plug-in Hybrid model, plays a key role in accommodating the new powertrain. Its innovative structure and layout maximises space for passengers and luggage, with the battery pack located beneath the floor of the cabin. As a result, the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid offers generous space for up to five or seven passengers like its Hybrid and diesel counterparts. It also offers one of the largest cargo capacities in its class, with the larger battery pack not taking up significant amounts of boot space – up to 809 litres (for seven-seat models) or 898 litres (five-seat models) with two rows of seats in place. In sevenseat models, with all seven seats in place, boot space is 175 litres (compared to 179 litres for its Hybrid counterpart). Visually, Sorento Plug-in Hybrid models maintain the same modern exterior design as other models in the line-up, with ‘eco plug-in’ badges and a charging port on the rear quarters standing out as the only points of differentiation.
The same comprehensive range of ‘connected car’ and safety technology
The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid offers the same high level of technological innovation as other Sorento models. The touchscreen infotainment system allows full, seamless smartphone integration with 6

Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. A powerful 12-speaker BOSE® surround-sound audio system is also available, carrying a more immersive sound to all passengers, as well as a cabin Mood Lighting system, with up to 64 colours for users to choose from. Featuring Kia Live services, it provides drivers with live traffic information, weather forecasts, points of interest, and details of potential on- and off-street parking (including price, location and parking availability) – in addition to nearby vehicle charging points. UVO Connect also enables drivers to send route directions to their car before a journey, and check the location of their vehicle at any time.
Pricing

Nissan celebrates production of the 500,000th LEAF
FOR MORE INFORMATION ON THE LEAF, CONTACT THE CORPORATE TEAM TODAY.
In celebration of World EV Day on September 9th 2020, Nissan marked the production of the 500,000th LEAF, the world’s first mass-market 100% electric car. With half a million LEAF built globally, customers around the world continue to embrace the pioneering zero-emission vehicle. The milestone was achieved at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland, England, almost a decade after the model first went on sale. The plant has built more than 175,000 LEAF cars since it began producing the model in 2013. Nissan’s manufacturing facilities in Sunderland continue to craft the LEAF to the highest standards to ensure that every LEAF embodies innovation and excitement, while striving to make advances in sustainable mobility. The Nissan LEAF has won accolades around the world including Car of the Year 2011 in Europe, World Car of the Year 2011, and Car of the Year Japan in 2011 and 2012. More importantly, the car has earned the trust of hundreds of thousands of customers. The 500,000th LEAF found its happy owner, Maria Jansen, in Norway - “My husband and I chose to buy a Nissan LEAF back in 2018, and we loved it,” Jansen said. “We’re very excited to become the proud owners of the 500,000th Nissan
LEAF. This car really meets our needs with extended range and enhanced technologies.” The LEAF offers customers advanced technologies to enhance safety, comfort and control on the road. These include the award-winning ProPILOT – a “hands-on, eyes-on” system that allows the car to stop, restart and stay centered in its lane – and e-Pedal technology for one-pedal driving.
Paving the way for an electrified future
With more than 14.8 billion clean-air kilometers driven since 20101, LEAF owners around the world have helped prevent more than 2.4 billion kilograms of CO2 emissions. During recent lockdowns, air quality improved around the world due to a decrease in CO2-emitting activities. In Europe, studies show that 68% of people support measures to prevent a return to previous levels of air pollution2. “Consumers have seen what cleaner air and reduced noise pollution feel like during lockdowns,” said Helen Perry, head of electric passenger cars and infrastructure at Nissan Europe. “Now more than ever, they’re looking to take positive steps towards a more sustainable future and the Nissan LEAF contributes to this efforts.” 8

ŠKODA
New Powertrain Variants for the Škoda Octavia In its fourth generation, the Škoda Octavia is once again available as a hatchback and an estate; a rugged Scout and three sporty RS versions have also been added to the line-up. Fitted with a choice of front- or all-wheel drive and manual or automatic DSG transmissions, there is an Octavia to suit every ŠKODA customer. The fourth generation since the modern-day Octavia’s launch in 1996 will further cement the model line as the brand’s heart and engine as well as its top volume model. With more than seven million produced, the Octavia is the bestselling Škoda ever and a real icon in numerous international markets. In addition to its domestic market, the Czech Republic, the Octavia tops the bestseller lists in seven other countries, including Poland, Austria, Switzerland and Finland. In its second-largest sales market, Germany, the Octavia has been the most sought-after import vehicle for years. The Octavia Combi, Europe’s most popular estate, has played a major part in this. Škoda manufactures up to 400,000 units of its bestseller each year. The Octavia is the brand’s only model to be made in four different countries: it rolls off production lines in the Czech Republic, China, Russia and India.
ŠKODA OCTAVIA RS iV
The reasons for the Octavia’s success story are obvious: In addition to its ŠKODA-typical generous amounts of space and excellent value for money, the brand’s heart and engine provides an impressive level of safety too – as illustrated by its five-star rating in the Euro NCAP tests. In its fourth generation, the Octavia offers numerous innovative safety and assistance systems. These include Park Assist with Area View whose four cameras create a 360-degree image of the vehicle’s immediate surroundings, Adaptive Lane Assist, which is able to identify roadworks as well as conventional road markings, and the Local Traffic Warning function that automatically warns of traffic hold-ups in the car’s vicinity, such as the end of a traffic jam. For the first time, Škoda is offering the new head-up display for the Octavia; this projects information such as the car’s speed, navigation instructions, detected traffic signs and activated driver assistance systems directly onto the windscreen. The Octavia offers a choice of three infotainment systems from the latest generation with screens measuring between 8.25 and 10 inches. Thanks to a built-in eSIM, the vehicle is always online – thus enabling the use of new ŠKODA Connect online services. 12
