NISSAN

All-New Nissan Qashqai Unveiled

A

fter months of anticipation due to teasers from Nissan, the All-New, third generation Nissan Qashqai has finally been unveiled. More than three million units of Qashqai have been sold since Nissan invented the segment in 2007. The new Qashqai has retained elements from previous generations: elegant design, enhanced packaging and efficient powertrain, combined with elevated quality and a driving experience from a higher segment. Thanks to the new Alliance CMF-C platform, a showcase of advanced engineering, innovation and advanced technology, the new Qashqai will again raise the bar in the crossover segment and customers will savour those attributes.

Striking attraction, elegant design As with the two previous

generations, the design for the all-new Nissan Qashqai came out of Nissan's European Design Studio in London, UK. Completely redesigned with a more muscular, sharp and modern shape, the body stance is more enhanced and purposeful, with prominent shoulder lines. The extended wheelbase now features 20inch alloy wheels introduced to Qashqai for the first time. Customers appreciate the personal touches, so the new Qashqai will be available in 11 body colours with five twotone combinations, creating 16 variations to choose from.

Elevated interior ambience

Connected, comfortable and commanding, the cabin of the new Nissan Qashqai sets a new segment standard for premium feel, distinctive design and enhanced usability. New white ambient lighting is used throughout the cabin, with its uniformity giving a premium and harmonious impression. While extensive attention has been paid to the ergonomic and aesthetic quality of the switch gear and buttons with a high quality, tactile feel giving users a sense of confidence and the refinement. 2

Practicality personified

Forward visibility has been improved with repositioned door mirrors, thinner A-pillars and a wider windscreen opening angle. In the rear there’s an additional 28mm of knee room for passengers, thanks largely in part to an increase in wheelbase. Where space allows, parents will appreciate that the rear doors now open to 90 degrees, allowing easier access to babies and toddlers in child-seats. A powered hands-free tailgate makes accessing the boot effortless when hands are anything but free. Boot capacity is also up, by 50 litres over that of the current model, courtesy of a revised rear suspension layout which allows for a lower cargo floor.

Connected control

The new Qashqai offers an advanced infotainment system with a broad portfolio of connected services including effortless integration

of smartphones, in-car WiFi for up to seven devices and NissanConnect Services, a dedicated app with which to interact with and monitor the vehicle. A new 9 inch high-definition multimedia touchscreen replaces the outgoing car’s 7.0in unit, while a 10.8 inch head-up display is said to be the largest in its segment. Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa bring voice control functionality, and the NissanConnect smartphone app allows remote control of certain functions including the horn, lights and central locking.

Electrified powertrains

Supporting Nissan's goal of achieving 50% electrified sales in Europe by 2024, the new Nissan Qashqai will not only be available with a 1.3 DiG-T petrol equipped with mild hybrid technology, but it also represents the European debut of e-POWER, Nissan's innovative and award-winning powertrain that draws technologies from the company's pioneering Nissan LEAF electric vehicle. With both 2WD and 4WD variants, 6-speed manual or new Xtronic transmissions, and pure-electric motor driving courtesy of e-POWER, the all-new Qashqai's powertrain options cater for every customer requirement with driving pleasure

at the heart of all the powertrain configurations.

E-POWER

The new Qashqai brings the first deployment of Nissan's innovative ePOWER drive system to Europe. The system is comprised of a high-output battery and powertrain integrated with a categoryleading variable compression ratio 154hp petrol engine, power generator, inverter and 140kW electric motor of similar size and power output as found in Nissan's electric vehicles. It's a unique solution that combines the enjoyable, seamless linear acceleration which is characteristic of an EV, but without the need for charging. Similar to the LEAF, the new Qashqai e-POWER benefits from an entirely new `one pedal' driving experience called e-Pedal. Drivers can start, accelerate and decelerate using only the accelerator pedal. "The new Qashqai is going to change what customers can expect from a family car. Comfort, refinement and technology will be comparable with upper segment vehicles, while the driving experience will satisfy drivers and passengers alike. With Nissan's bold e-POWER technology, we feel that customers will fall in love with the feeling of an electric powertrain, without the range concerns,” said Gianluca de Ficchy, Chairman, Nissan Africa, Middle East, India, Europe and Oceania (AMIEO) Region.

HONDA

INTRODUCING THE ALL-NEW HONDA HR-V HYBRID

I

ntroducing the All-New Honda HR-V Hybrid. Unveiled on February 18th 2021, the popular compact SUV is now available with a powerful and responsive twomotor e:HEV powertrain as standard for the first time. The all-new HR-V delivers exceptional hybrid efficiency and advanced safety and technology features, all incorporated into a bold and sleek coupe-inspired form designed to enhance the classleading interior space and comfort the nameplate is known for. Available to order from late 2021, the new HR-V is the latest model in Honda's line-up to wear the e:HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) badge, following the refreshed CR-V and all new Jazz that launched in 2020. It expands Honda's electrified line up as the brand moves further towards its goal of electrifying all of its European mainstream models by 2022.

Premium SUV styling

The next-generation HR-V e:HEV achieves a distinctive SUV presence in a compact coupe-inspired design. The new model embodies the brand's seamless, clean, modern design philosophy seen in other recent new Honda models, that follows the key concepts of function and beauty. The design includes a new bold integrated grille, while the body shape incorporates a long bonnet and sharper, more vertical sides to ensure there is no impact on interior space. The bonnet centre is low and flat, with a shoulder line that flows to the base of the A-pillars, projecting a sense of stability and security that further enhances the SUV aesthetic.

Exceptional space, comfort and utility

The all-new HR-V achieves a compelling combination of premium SUV styling and exceptional spaciousness thanks to the clever packaging of its hybrid drivetrain components. As a result, the HR-V retains its predecessor’s classleading interior space, with four adults able to sit in maximum comfort. As with the exterior, the spacious interior has a solid, premium SUV feel, but with contemporary fabrics and soft-touch materials. The modern minimalist aesthetic, which is initiated by the horizontal sweep of the instrument panel, is the result of an uncluttered interior and dashboard, with each element carefully positioned to contribute to the sense of space. The feeling of airiness and space is elevated by a new air diffusion system that creates a curtain of fresh air beside and above passengers, flowing from unique L-shaped vents positioned in the top corners of the dashboard. Thanks to Honda's compact, integrated powertrain technology and centre tank layout, the all-new HR-V also retains the versatile Magic Seats that offer both 'fold-flat' or 'flip-up' seat flexibility, depending on cargo space required.

GWR KIA

Kia Accomplishes Two Awards at the 2021 Company Car Today Cct100 Awards

K

ia achieves two more awards at the 2021 Company Car Today CT100 Awards. The already award-winning flagship SUV, the All-New Sorento, as well as the smallest car in the Kia range, the Picanto, both topped their categories. Furthermore, both the Sportage and the e-Niro appear in the CCT100 chart. The CCT100 is Company Car Today’s definitive list of the 100 cars that can fulfil any business car requirement. A shortlist containing the top five cars in each category is assessed across 13 key factors that make an excellent company car, including emissions, price, running costs, company car tax, practicality, desirability and the driving experience to select the CCT100 Award winners. Following its precursor, the All-New Sorento ranks high in all areas therefore its crowned ‘‘Large SUV of the Year’ for 2021. The fourth generation Sorento deserves to be the industry leading large SUV through receiving the five-star safety rating from Euro NCA as well as being a new hybrid powertrain and space-for-seven. The smallest vehicle of the Kia range – Kia Picanto is a stark contrast to the All-New Sorento. The picanto has often been placed at the top in various award ceremonies since its launch back in 2004 and has sold over 150,000 units in the UK. Depending on specification, the Picanto is offered with technologies such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) and Kia’s new Automated Manual Transmission. “Kia’s pair of Company Car Today CCT100 Awards show the strength of the brand, coming at opposite ends of the spectrum with the Picanto showing its quality in the City Car category, and the All-New Sorento proving that large SUVs can make sense for company car operators thanks to its hybrid technology,” said Paul Barker, Editor of Company Car Today. “Both cars exhibited great running costs, combined with practicality, good looks and efficiency.” Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia Motors (UK) Limited said: “To see Kia top two categories at opposite ends of the automotive spectrum fills me with pride, and is an absolutely fantastic way to start the New Year. Undoubtedly both the Large SUV and City Car categories were highly competitive, which makes the double win even more impressive. “Since the fourth-generation Sorento was launched back in September 2020, it has received a very positive reaction and has helped set in motion Kia’s future trajectory, whilst also securing a position at the very front of the Large SUV market. The Picanto as well, has consistently been a popular choice with customers thanks to its refined interior and driving feel in such a small package, and has truly earned its place as a renowned City Car.” Both the Sportage and e-Niro feature in the CCT100 list as well, proving further Kia's quality line-up of vehicles for all types of customers.
