Mazda Mx-30: Award-Winner from the Beginning

T

he all-electric Mazda MX-30, which debuted in 2020, has set a new standard for the electric SUV with its seamless blend of contemporary design and effortless style, combined with Mazda's innovative and rewarding e-Skyactiv electric drive technology. It's an approach that defies convention, as befits the car's MX moniker, and it's gotten praise from both owners and reviewers. And we're very proud that Mazda's first all-electric vehicle has already won several awards in its short life - here's a rundown of the accolades received so far.

Red Dot DeSign Award 2020

The MX-30 received its first award at the 2020 Red Dot Design Awards, one of the world's largest international design competitions. Mazda's 'Human Modern' interpretation of its established Kodo design philosophy won the Red Dot jury over in the

'Electric Vehicle' category. "The Mazda MX-30's exterior impresses with clear lines and minimalist contours," they said, adding that "the use of sustainable materials in the interior is ground-breaking." Mazda's use of sustainably sourced cork in the centre console and door trims that use a fabric that incorporates recycled PET plastic bottles are examples of environmentally friendly material choices.

DrivingElectric.com Awards 2021

DrivingElectric.com, a specialist electric and hybrid vehicle review site, named the MX-30 'Favourite Electric Car,' a category based on reader votes. It was a clear winner in the poll, indicating that Mazda's emphasis on stylish design, rewarding driving experience, and sustainability resonates with buyers considering an all-electric vehicle transition.

DieselCar and EcoCar Magazine Awards in 2021

The MX-30 received its most recent award in June 2021, when it was named Best Electric Compact SUV in DieselCar and EcoCar Magazine's annual awards. "We're big fans of the MX-30's neat design, which pays homage to the RX-8 sports car with its freestyle doors," said editor Ian Robertson. The magazine also praised Mazda's "eco-conscious" approach to design and construction. Regarding Mazda's decision to create an all-electric vehicle for everyday use, Ian 5

adds, "A smaller battery helps the MX-30 undercut rivals on cost... Furthermore, weight is kept to a minimum, allowing the MX-30 to drive with precision and minimal body roll." The MX-30 has already proven to be ideal for the needs of its early owners, with a range that covers most people's day-to-day use and the ease of overnight charging or fast-charging when needed. Every drive in the MX-30 is a rewarding and enjoyable experience, thanks to the same 'Jinba Ittai' spirit of car and driver that runs through all Mazda vehicles. The award-winning Mazda MX-30 provides an exciting new way to enjoy all-electric driving. Have you ever tried it?

PEUGEoT

EVERY PEUGEOT EV AVAILABLE AND COMING SOON

I

n terms of electrification, Peugeot is leading the Stellantis charge, with ambitious plans to offer an electric version of everything in its line up by 2023. We'll have to wait and see if it succeeds, but expect a slew of pure-electric models to hit the market soon.

Available now: Peugeot e-2008

Rather than producing Electric-specific models, Peugeot is one of the brands aiming to offer an electric "variant" of existing models in its line up. The e-2008 is a great example of how this can work. It looks exactly like its combustion-powered siblings, but beneath the hood is a 50kWh battery capable of up to 206 miles between charges; that's significantly more than a Mini Electric, but not quite as good as a car like the Volkswagen ID.3.

Available now: Peugeot e-208

The Peugeot e-208, which has a 136hp electric motor, has been praised as a fun-to-drive electric supermini. Inside, you'll find the usual array of screens and "i-cockpit" controls found in any Peugeot, but underneath is the same electric motor and platform found in the Corsa-e. It's yet another example of the Stellantis group's success with platform sharing.

Available now: Peugeot e-Rifter

Peugeot's new all-electric e-Rifter is as easy to drive in town as it is on the highway. It moves freely into restricted traffic areas in the city. The Peugeot e-Rifter battery charge allows you to travel up to 172 miles (WLTP). The WLTP protocol provides users with a more precise and realistic view of range values based on actual vehicle use.

Available now: Peugeot e-Traveller

With the Peugeot Traveller MPV, you'll enjoy a new perspective on travel and plenty of open space. The range and battery charge of the Peugeot e-Traveller lets you travel up to 148 miles according to the WLTP (Worldwide harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedures) certification protocol.

Coming soon: Peugeot e-308

The Peugeot e-308 is the company's next all-electric vehicle, which is set to go on sale in the coming months. It will use the same electric motors and drivetrain as the e-2008. When it arrives, it'll be competing against cars like the Volkswagen ID.3, and thanks to its stunning styling, it might just be able to entice a few customers.

Skoda Enyaq iV first drive a review by FleetNews

T

he multi-award-winning ŠKODA ENYAQ iV comes with an electrifying variety of features including mobile connectivity, a digital cockpit, and two high-capacity battery options. Read on to find out what Andrew Ryan of FleetNews thinks of the model as a fleet option.

A Review by FleetNews

'It may be relatively late to the battery electric vehicle (BEV) party, but Skoda has made its entrance in style with the Enyaq iV. The SUV joins plug-in hybrid versions of its Superb and Octavia models in the manufacturer’s iV electric vehicle subbrand, with the latter highly commended in the Best Plug-in Hybrid Car category in this year’s Fleet News Awards. The Enyaq, too, should be a success with company car drivers by offering the family-friendly practicality for which Skoda has become known in an SUV package, as well as the 1% benefit-in-kind (BIK) tax rate for zero-emission vehicles. About the same size as the Octavia, it offers oodles of interior space: there’s plenty of head- and leg-room both front and rear, while the boot is a vast 585 litres. Enyaq’s driving range adds to its usability. It is available with two battery sizes, a 62kWh and 82kWh, and these are fitted, slightly confusingly, into the Enyaq iV 60 and the Enyaq iV 80 respectively. The 60 has a WLTP combined range of 256 miles, with the 80 offering 333 miles. The 62kWh battery model has a 177PS motor, and the power output rises to 204PS for the 82kWh vehicles. Both can charge at up to 11kW from an AC charger, meaning that a full charge from a 7.4kW wallbox will take either nine-and-a-half hours or 13 hours, dependent on the battery. As standard, both battery sizes are fitted with an on-board 50kW DC charger, giving the 60 models a 0-80% charging time of 55 minutes. The 80 variants will take 70 minutes for the same charge. The 60 can be specified with an optional 100kW charger for £440, cutting this time to 35 minutes, while the 80 is available with a 125kW onboard unit. This means the same charge takes 38 minutes. Enyaq is available in six interior specifications – Loft, Lodge, Lounge, Suite, EcoSuite and SportLine – which differ in terms of upholstery, decorative trim and dashboard materials to deliver a different feel. A number of option packs can then be specified to enhance equipment levels, covering areas such as comfort, 10

convenience and safety. The EV6 arrives at GWR Kia

W

Interior

e’re excited to announce that the highly anticipated Kia EV6 has arrived here at GWR Kia. The fully electric EV6 marks a new era for Kia. Having recently been voted ‘2022 German Car of the Year’ in the ‘Premium’ category of the ‘German Car of the Year’ (GCOTY) awards, it’s eye-catching design and impressive driving range sets new standards in the motor industry for years to come.

Based on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP architecture, the EV6’s cabin benefits from class-leading interior space and functionality, thanks to the flat battery under the floor, and minimal front and rear overhangs. Passengers are greeted by a lean, minimalist dashboard architecture that emphasises the cabin’s remarkable sense of space. With no need to house a central transmission tunnel, the EV6’s flat floor provides rear seat occupants with 990mm of legroom for exceptional space and comfort. For those sat up front, there is a roomy 1,078mm of legroom on offer. Despite the EV6’s relatively compact exterior dimensions – it’s no longer than a compact saloon – its 2,900mm wheelbase is longer than that of the Sorento SUV, the largest car Kia sells in the UK. This results in cabin space on part with many mid-size SUVs.

Performance

The new Kia EV6 brings long-range, zeroemissions power, 800V ultra-fast charging, and distinctive styling to the crossover SUV market. The EV6 is Kia’s first car to be based on the company’s dedicated new architecture for battery electric vehicles (BEVs). The EV6 is Kia’s first dedicated battery electric vehicle (BEV) based on its all-new Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The high-tech architecture enables the vehicle to achieve up to 328 miles of driving range from a single charge on the WLTP combined cycle, while advanced 800V charging technology means drivers can charge the EV6 from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

Exterior

The EV6 is a modern and sporty crossover. With an eye-catching, muscular design, every detail, big and small, is designed to create a distinctive and sporty look. The unique, rear light signature stretches in a curved line that connects 12

the rear wheel arches on either side. Multiple LEDs create a piano-look effect that makes a striking visual statement. The EV6's roofline is straight and sporty. It ends with a wing-type roof spoiler that not only elevates the design, but also improves the aerodynamics. The EV6’s flush door handles pop out when you approach the car. Not only does it look great but it also improves aerodynamics.

Safety is the most important thing while on the move and the EV6 is packed with safety features. Kia's new intelligent front lighting system uses adaptive high-beam technology to provide the best possible visibility at night without dazzling oncoming traffic. Forward collision-avoidance assist acts like a second pair of eyes in case it senses an immediate collision. Lane Keep Assist keeps you from unwittingly drifting out of your lane due to sleepiness or inattention.

Battery life and charging

Available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, customers can choose between long-range (77.4 kWh) and standard-range (58.0 kWh) high-voltage battery packs. The 77.4 kWh battery pack is paired with a 168 kW (229ps) electric motor powering the rear wheels, while AWD models featuring two electric motors can produce a total of 239kW (325ps). Thanks to the EV6's 800 V high-speed multi-charging system, you can spend more time driving and less time charging. You can get up to 62 miles driving range in just 4.5 minutes when charging at public stations providing 250kW power.

Solid eco-credentials

Kia’s Plan S strategy puts electrification at the forefront of the company’s future and sets the foundations for a full product line-up featuring 11 new battery electric vehicles by 2026. The EV6 is the first model to be launched under this new strategy and sets Kia firmly on the path to becoming a leader in the popularisation of electric vehicles. The EV6 is available to order now.
