HONDA JAZZ WINS AT 2016 TELEGRAPH CARS AWARDS 2016 Click here to see the current Jazz offer with 0% APR Representative & 5 years servicing for £555

For a small car interior space is impressive, and Honda’s reliability record is superb.” Phil Webb, Head of Cars at Honda UK, commented: “Being recognised by one of the foremost motoring teams at one of our national newspapers is a fantastic accolade for both the brand and the Jazz. The Jazz is a very important model for us, with an extremely loyal following, so we look forward to seeing this success continue.”
All awards, given out by the Daily Telegraph publication, were chosen by a panel of expert test teams who over the last 12 months have put hundreds of cars through a rigorous review process including everything from early first drives to a detailed 10-point test and living with the cars on a long-term test basis. Their choices were a reflection of the best new models on sale today across a broad range of categories, with the third generation launched last year, the latest incarnation of the Jazz builds on the strong reputation of its highly successful predecessors. Honda has been racing since day 1 and has an amazing heritage, let’s take a look at some of their highlights.
“If Honda does not race, there is no Honda.”-
1963
1964
Soichiro Honda Honda began racing cars in 1964 with Formula One. It was a tough place to start for Honda, but they had experience of starting from nothing with Motorcycle Racing and the Isle of Mann TT. They achieved their success by the concept of learning by doing is the way to winning. “If Honda does not race, there is no Honda.”- Soichiro Honda. The rest is history!
Finding the right Formula
To produce a competitive car you need a competitive engine. Honda thought they had found the right engine with the V12, R270E originally built for Lotus, but in February 1964, Honda was informed the British company could no longer use Honda engines- creating a setback.
4
The RA270 was born
Honda poured all of their energy into producing their own racing car and involved racing legend Jack Brabham in testing the RA270. Honda eventually entered the German Grand Prix in July 1964, arriving on the world’s premier car racing stage.

On the 24th August 1965, Honda driver Richie Ginther took victory at The Mexico Grand Prix behind the wheel of the RA 272.
The Impressive 80s
Honda eventually took a break from Formula in 1967 but returned in the 1980s with some impressive results. We won the Constructors Championship Title in 1986 and set a new record of 11 consecutive victories in 1988. Honda’s success continued until they withdrew in 1992.

HONDA RELEASE ALL-ELECTRIC CONCEPT!
CLICK TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE ONLINE
Honda will take part in the Electric Modified Class at the 2016 Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb with an all-electric, NSX-inspired EV Concept. The latest model is a further evolution of the experimental, all-electric, 4-motor Super Handling AllWheel Drive powertrain that won last year’s Exhibition class. The vehicle will be driven by Tetsuya Yamano, who won in last year’s CR-Z electric protoype. This year the powertrain produces three times the total system output of the CR-Z and is now mated to the
NSX body. “We’ve been tuning the car for several weeks at Pikes and have advanced its performance significantly,” said Tetsuya Yamano. “We’re honored to be running at Pikes in this historical, anniversary year – an event respected by racing fans all over the world.” 4-Motor Development Honda R&D has been developing “super handling” technology for more than 20 years in the pursuit of ideal vehicle handling. Based upon the learnings from last year’s race, the team updated the system management of the 6
powertrain for more precise thrust at each wheel. Acura’s unique Sport Hybrid SH-AWD technology utilizes the highly responsive acceleration characteristics and regeneration capability of electric motors to further advance the torque vectoring systems currently applied to NSX. With its high-output electric motors and 4-motor torque vectoring, the Concept is well suited to the demands of the 156 complex corners the driver will encounter on the drive up Pikes Peak.

INDUSTRY CHANGES TO BE AWARE OF A number of key changes will shortly be coming into effect, here is our breakdown: Vehicle Tax Changes for 2017 The way Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) is calculated is changing for some vehicles registered from 1st April 2017. All vehicles registered before this date will not be affected.
Category
Definition
Category M

Category M1

The Basics The changes were announced by the Chancellor in the 2015 budget, which stated the first vehicle licence will be calculated on the vehicle’s CO₂ emissions. However, if a car’s list price is over £40,000 at first registration, the customer will pay the additional rate of £310 for five years after the end of the first licence. Alternative fuel vehicles will continue to receive a £10 reduction on vehicle tax rates.
Vehicles designed and constructed for the carriage of passengers and comprising no more than eight seats in addition to the driver’s seat. Passenger carrying vehicles which are designed and constructed for special purposes. Vehicles which are type approved as M1 Special Purpose are as follows: • motor homes/caravans • ambulances • wheelchair accessible vehicles • armour-plated vehicles, and hearses Designed for off road use and meeting designed criteria.

CHARGING FOR CHARGING
CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS ON CHARGING FOR CHARGING
After five years of Electric Highway providing charging for free, they are moving to a ‘charging for charging’ model. When the company began in July 2011, they noticed a bit of a chicken and egg situation; of people reluctant to buy electric cars because of the lack of charging facilities, and on the other hand nobody wanting to build facilities because of the limited number of electric cars. This is when Electric Highway jumped in to help and start the electric car revolution in Britain. Today, there are over 40 models to choose from and 64,000 plug-ins on the roads which can use almost 300 fast charging points provided by the Electric Highway. The company has worked out they are now delivering two million miles of clean driving each month, which is all powered by wind and sun. To keep up with demand, Electric Highway needs to build more electric pumps which is the main reason for the change. They have decided on a simple flat fee of £5 for a 20 minute fast charge.
How will it work? • Download the App - You will need this app to use the pumps once ‘charging for charging’ starts • Check the App - It will include a live feed of the entire network- location of pumps, if they are in use and track the progress with the charging countdown • Hardware Update - Each pump will require a new upgrade which should be completed by 5th August 2016 • Removal of charging card- Once the work is complete the entire network will be useable through the Electric Highway app, meaning you will no longer need your swipe card. Don't Forget The Electric Highway will still be free to use for Ecotricity Energy Customers. You’ll not only get free use of the Electric Highway, but also a discount on your energy just for having an electric car. You can sign up here
