MAZDA MOTABILITY

Mazda has given its Motability programme a spring boost with the inclusion of its all-new supermini model in the scheme. The all-new Mazda2 went on UK sale earlier this year and four models are now included in the Motability programme with the Mazda2 1.5 75ps SE manual available with nil advance payments. Other range models now in the scheme are the: Mazda2 1.5 90ps SE-L Nav, Mazda2 1.5 90ps Sport Nav and Mazda2 1.5 90ps SE-L Auto. On-the-road prices for the Mazda2 start from £11,995. The importance of the Motability programme to Mazda was underlined by the marque exhibiting at a two-day ‘Big Event’ in Manchester earlier in the year. It is Motability’s largest event of the year giving those in receipt of allowances the opportunity to view the largest display of vehicles available through the scheme. Visitors to the event were able to view the allnew Mazda2 as well as the Mazda3 and Mazda6 and to test drive the latter, which has recently been enhanced and now features improved standard equipment levels across the entire model range, enhanced interior and exterior design, plus improved functionality, ride comfort and quietness, and the adoption of several sophisticated new

technologies in Mazda’s optional Safety Pack. Mazda also exhibited at Motability’s regional ‘One Big Day’ events at the Peterborough Arena, Cambridgeshire, on Thursday, 6 August and Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, on Saturday, 12 September. Meanwhile, Mazda, which is witnessing a significant sales increase across both the corporate and private sectors with new car sales up more than 18 per cent in 2015 versus an industry-wide increase of 6.4 per cent, has further boosted the appeal of its ever-popular Mazda3 and Mazda6 to Motability scheme participants. Both models, like the Mazda2, feature the brand’s breakthrough SKYACTIV technology, which delivers fuel-sipping performance and low CO2 emissions among many other attributes designed to keep running costs to an absolute minimum.

“Mazda continues to reap the benefit of offering a comprehensive Motability programme and we are delighted to be able to offer allowance recipients a wide selection of models, many with nil advance payments.” - Clare Marston, Mazda Fleet Marketing Manager

The all-new lower medium sector Mazda3 was launched last year and six models are available in the Motability programme including the 120ps SE Nav manual with nil advance payments. On-theroad prices for the Mazda3 start at £16,995 and other models available are the: Mazda3 120ps SE Nav auto, Mazda3 120ps SE-L Nav manual and auto, Mazda3 120ps Sport Nav auto and Mazda3 150ps SE Nav diesel. The perennial family favourite Mazda6, available from £19,795, is featured in the Motability programme with a choice of nine models: Mazda6 Saloon 145ps SE Nav, Mazda6 Saloon 145ps SE-L manual and auto, Mazda6 Saloon 145ps SE-L Nav manual and auto, Mazda6 Saloon 150ps SE diesel, Mazda6 Saloon SE Nav diesel, Mazda6 Tourer 145ps SE-L, Mazda6 Tourer 145ps SE-L Nav. The entry-level Mazda6 Saloon 145ps SE Nav is available with an advance payment of just £199, a saving of £100 versus the first three months of 2015. Finally, the Mazda5 multi-activity vehicle is available on the Motability programme in a choice of 1.6 Sport Venture diesel and 2.0 Sport Venture derivatives with an advanced payment of only £499 for the latter featuring easy slide-door access. On-the-road prices start at £20,495.

Mazda Fleet Marketing Manager Clare Marston said: “As always, our Motability campaign gives every accredited dealer the opportunity to offer Mazda vehicles in all of the core segments for Motability. “The arrival of the all-new Mazda2 is vital to the continuing success of Mazda’s Motability programme as the B-segment represents a massive 20 per cent of all scheme registrations so every one of our dealers should benefit. There is good availability of the model so our dealers should be able to satisfy demand quickly.” She added: Mazda continues to reap the benefit of offering a comprehensive Motability programme and we are delighted to be able to offer allowance recipients a wide selection of models, many with nil advance payments. “Overall Mazda’s competitive terms across the range gives our dealer network an aggressive conquest offer which we believe will increase showroom footfall.” READ MORE ABOUT MAZDA MOBILITY

Norton Way Mazda Celebrates First 10 Year Digital Mazda MX-5 Owner Norton Way Mazda is celebrating with local customer Terry Smith after being identified by Mazda UK as one of the first customers to benefit from Digital Service Records (DSR), when he bought his Mazda MX-5 from the Norton Way dealership nearly 10 years ago. As one of the first ‘paperless’ vehicles, boasting no servicing booklet, this was a novelty for the industry. Today, he is still driving the same Mazda MX-5 that has now been serviced 11 times by Norton Way Mazda. Mr Smith is still benefiting from the ease and convenience of all his records being stored digitally on the DSR system. 2005 was the year of technology, with the likes of Google Maps, HD TV, the Xbox 360 and YouTube all being launched. Mazda contributed to this technology boom, being the first car manufacturer in the UK to move customers away from paper-based service records to a high tech digital version. First introduced in September 2005 Mazda’s new Digital Service Records (DSR) system ensured that lost or falsified service records would become a thing of the past.vv Mr Smith was excited to be one of the early adopters of this technology, commenting; “When I bought my Mazda MX-5 back in May 2006, I never expected to be one of the first customers to be hitting this milestone along with Mazda,” Smith explains. 6

“The digital service record is great, I don’t have to worry about finding my service book and I know the value of my car will be protected by having a robust record that dealers and new buyers can review.” With all records on a secure central server, the car’s entire maintenance history, including mileage, roadside assistance cover and warranty information, is available on demand at any authorised Mazda service centre in Europe. In addition to ensuring service records never go missing, DSR helps guard against mileage manipulation because dealers and repairers log odometer readings at each visit throughout the life of the car. The system also helps boost residual values by ensuring every pre-owned Mazda comes with official and credible evidence that it’s been maintained and repaired within the official network to Mazda’s high standards. Pictured are some of the members of staff that have dealt with Terry Smith since purchasing his MX-5. Will Horner (Left of Picture), joined Norton Way in 2003 as a Trainee Service Advisor, he has now progressed to Service Manager of the dealership. Bob Cantwell (Centre of Picture) has

22 years’ of service experience leading to his role as Senior Service Advisor/ Warranty Administrator. Richard Surbey (Right of Picture) is now in his 13th Year with Norton Way and handled Terry’s original purchase. Norton Way Mazda would like to thank Terry Smith for his continued support of the business and choosing the dealership to build up his fantastic DSR record. Norton Way Mazda, now has the hotlyanticipated all-new Mazda MX-5 sports car available to view and test drive. Priced from £18,495, the all-new Mazda MX-5 launches with a range of finance options to suit every customer. Offering customers complete flexibility, the sports car is available with 0% APR* representative with a minimum 50% deposit on Mazda Conditional Sale (12, 24 or 36 months) to 5.9% APR** Mazda Personal Contract Purchase up to 42-months with no minimum deposit. New Mazda CX-3 N O R T O N WAY M A Z D A • I S S U E 1 1 • S E P T 2 0 1 5

We’ve come to expect agile and engaging handling from Mazda models – and the CX-3 is no exception. The steering is light but direct and accurate, while the gearbox has a crisp shift action and there’s plenty of grip. Whichever engine you choose, you’ll benefit from the same sharp exterior styling. The CX-3 is the latest model to be treated to Mazda’s bold KODO design treatment with a bold front grille and mix of daring curves and creases. With angled fog lights, the CX-3’s light signature is recognisable at night and gives the compact crossover a sporty look, borrowing certain elements from the larger CX-5 off-roader. At the back, the tail-lights have the same effect. They’re shallow and wide, sitting across the rear wings and boot lid. Above them is the black C-pillar, which helps make the Mazda look lower to the ground in conjunction with its small rear window – although this doesn’t reduce visibility which is fantastic.

The new Mazda CX-3 is a compact crossover that’s designed to rival popular models such as the Nissan Juke, Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur. Based on Mazda’s recently launched supermini, the CX-3 promises to combine rugged looks and a high-riding driving position with pennypinching running costs. Unlike many rivals, the CX-3 is available with two and four-wheel drive transmission options. The former promises impressive efficiency, while the latter gives the Mazda a dash of off-road ability and lots of allweather security. Buyers have a choice of two engines – one petrol and one diesel – and both promise to be cost effective to run. In two-wheel drive guise the 2.0-litre petrol produces 118bhp and emits as little as 136g/km. For those of you who are looking to minimize the impact on your wallet should take a close look at the diesel. 8

Inside, the cabin is generally robustly built and the switchgear operates with slick precision, while stitched leather effect trim for the dash helps create an upmarket feel. As with other Mazda models, there’s a choice of SE, SE-L and Sport Nav trim levels. All versions get air-conditioning, alloy wheels, Bluetooth, and a touchscreen infotainment system that includes a DAB radio. The SE-L adds climate control, heated front seats, lane departure warning and autonomous emergency braking, while the Sport Nav gets sat-nav, LED headlamps, a head-up display, keyless entry and a BOSE audio system. Both SE and SE-L models can be specified with sat-nav for an extra £600. Like many recent Mazda models, the new CX-3 benefits from the brand’s efficiency boosting SKYACTIV technological philosophy. Underpinning this approach is Mazda’s commitment to reducing the weight of all its cars, which helps to improve both fuel economy

and performance. CX-3’s low levels of wind noise and decent isolation of road roar lead to a very comfortable ride. And while the ride is a little firm around town, where it thumps into potholes, it smoothes out more the faster you go. The smaller 16-inch alloys improve the low-speed ride, making it a better town cruiser. Happily, this comfort doesn’t come at the expense of driving fun. As with other Mazda models, the CX-3 has been designed with driver engagement in mind; the steering is well-weighted, quick and precise, allowing you place the car accurately. And despite its high-riding stance, the CX-3 feels far more composed and stable through a series of corners than other similar sized crossovers. To finish with, it hasn’t forgotten practicality; on opening the tailgate it reveals a 350-litre boot which is well-shaped, plus it benefits from a handy false boot floor that can be lowered to create more space, or raised to make a flat load area when the 60/40 split rear seat is folded. Call or visit us now to book your test drive, you won’t 9 regret it.

Mazda at Goodwood Festival of Speed Mazda has since its first foray into international competition in 1968, demonstrated its engineering challenger spirit through the development of the rotary engine. Outright victories in the Le Mans 24 Hours and Spa 24 Hours, plus numerous class wins in touring car and sports car racing have been taken by rotary powered Mazdas. A winner in the World Rally Championship with the Group A Mazda 323, Mazda’s success extends to the piston engine, too, while today, the LMP2 SKYACTIV diesel prototype currently racing in the Tudor Sports Car Series in the United States highlights Mazda’s continued challenge convention approach in motorsport. This racing heritage was at the centre of attention at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. The central feature of the annual motoring event was a spectacular 40-metre high sculpture in front of Goodwood House featuring two Mazda racers bursting into the sky on a twisting track of steel beams. Inspired by Mazda’s KODO – Soul of Motion design, the creation of artist Gerry Judah conveyed a grace and agility that disguises the complexity of the installation, which was made 10

The two cars on top of the sculpture were the Le Mans winning Mazda 787B and the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo car

from 120 tonnes of steel. Each of the 418 steel beams was stacked at a different angle, curling the structure so that the cars at the top actually hang over the spectators below. The two cars on top of the sculpture were the Le Mans winning Mazda 787B which took overall victory in the famous 24 hour race in 1991 driven by British driver Johnny Herbert alongside Volker Weidler and Bertrand Gachot. Mazda remains the only Japanese manufacturer to have won Le Mans 24 Hours and the only rotary engine to have won the famous French endurance race. Next to the 787B was the Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo car. Created for Playstation’s Gran Tursimo 6 racing simulation game, the stunning Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo makes the leap from virtual concept car to physical concept with its towering position on the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed Mazda Central Feature. It was truly a spectacular event and attendees were blown away by everything that Mazda produced. Will you be going next year?
