Norton Way Peugeot’s Martin at the 308GTi Conference Norton Way Peugeot Sales Executive, Martin Long went to an exclusive event at Donnington Racetrack, to mark the immanent release of the eagerly anticipated 308GTi by Peugeot Sport.

The event was for Peugeot Staff from different dealerships across the country to provide them with an exclusive first look and drive of the new vehicle. Martin was one of around 50 staff that attended the morning event which ran from 9am to 12.30pm. It began with an introduction to the day, breakfast was also supplied to fuel everyone for a busy morning of activities. They were then told that the event would be spilt into 3 separate activities and Martin has provided us with an insight of them all:
Activity 2- Heritage Loop 8 of the brand new 308GTi 270hp version were available for this activity, everyone was spilt into groups and assigned a vehicle with a professional instructor. The heritage loop was a man-made course that highlighted a downhill section. This was designed to experience the two key upgrades on 270hp model: the limited slip differential and 2.3kg lighter 19” ‘Carbone’ lightweight alloy wheels shod with the latest Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres, with highly-capable 380mm ventilated front brake discs. The instructors were then challenging each driver to see how late they would brake into a hairpin which was placed at the end of the downhill section. Everyone was then given the experience of a professional driver showing them how to drive the course, Martin credited how good they were!
Activity 1- Race of Champions This was a head to head lap time activity. Peugeot had mapped out two symmetrical coned tracks, the task was to beat your opponent in the adjacent track. All of the times from the day were recorded in a Top Gear Style leader board with Martin taking the 3rd best time! In this activity everyone got the opportunity to demo the 250hp version of the new 308 GTi.

THE 208 WINS THE REAL-WORLD 2015 MPG MARATHON We’re very proud at Norton Way Peugeot this month, why, what’s happened you mat ask? Well here’s why. Peugeot has won the MPG Marathon with the 208 1.6-litre BlueHDi 75 Active 5-door model, taking the overall victory with best average MPG and finishing second in the most improved MPG performance category.
T
he MPG Marathon is sponsored by Barclaycard Fuel+ in association with TMC, the event involves driving in real- world conditions over 385 miles with the challenge of finding the most fuel efficient vehicle over a two- day event. The 2015 event was held on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th September, starting and finishing from the stunning Heythrop Park Resort, in Oxfordshire. Prior to the 2013 event, competitors were required to follow a standardised route, but for the last two years they have been able to select the route they felt was the most fuel-efficient, an approach that has proved universally popular. The event is far from crawling around at
unrealistic speeds, the rules even stipulate that teams must reach certain checkpoints by predetermined times. This year’s course allowed navigators to negotiate hills and traffic strategically, but carefully chosen check-points made using the motorway network less advantageous, thus a real-world driving experience was ensured and the competition made more realistic and ever challenging. The winning 208 was driven by former Peugeot Sport UK Manager Mick Linford and part-time rally navigator Jemma Champion who managed to achieve a very impressive 104.5mpg average over the two-day event. The 208 1.6-litre BlueHDi 75 Active 5-door model has an advertised 6

ADVICE ON HOW TO BE AN ECO-DRIVER: Every extra passenger or item carried all contribute weight negatively to affect vehicle performance and therefore fuel economy, so only take what is deemed necessary where possible Drive smart – close windows, and minimise energy consumption where possible by reducing use of energy sapping devices like air conditioning or heated rear window usage Keep the car clean, as dirt disrupts the aerodynamics and reduces aero efficiency Driving style is a major factor. Smooth, progressive acceleration is best, using the gearbox to quickly select a higher gear. Anticipate traffic conditions ahead so you can maintain cruising conditions and avoid braking unnecessarily. Drive a modern, efficient vehicle and one that has low CO2 emissions for best operating efficiency to reduce fuel consumption and save fuel expenses in the process
Combined Drive Cycle fuel economy figure of 80.7mpg, this means Mick and Jemma achieved a 29% improvement from that figure. There is an even-more fuel efficient 208 being introduced into the UK line-up in October with the Diesel 1.6-litre BlueHDi 75 now specified with Stop & Start technology that has the Combined Drive Cycle fuel economy of 94.2mpg.

The Eagerly anti First deliveries of new ‘308 GTi by Peugeot Sport’ are set to thrill with performances from 5th November. Remember, remember the fifth of November… because the iconic Peugeot GTi badge is returning to the medium car segment for the first time since the 1990s, and all is set for a thrilling performance. The 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport is a highend performance ‘hot hatch’ designed with the sophisticated and enthusiastic driver in mind. Launched as a high-performance model for the 308 range, having won the prestigious 2014 European Car of the Year, the 308 GTi has been extensively developed by Peugeot Sport - the Brand’s in-house team of motor sport engineers that boasts a wealth of expertise and success in the performance road car and international competition fields. The 308 GTi is the fourth road car project in three years following the critically acclaimed RCZ R, 208 GTi 30th and 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport. The letters GTi only ever feature on Peugeot products with the highest performance. An acronym of Grand Tourer Injection, it’s a badge which has become shorthand for the hot hatch segment - a sector in which Peugeot has more than played its part. Products such as the 205 GTi and 309 GTi have acquired
near-classic status in the decades since launch, and remain hugely popular with owners who appreciate their exceptional dynamic performance. The 308 GTi continues in the same vein. Due to the dedication of the Peugeot Sport team, the GTi offers customers a striking new interpretation of the 308’s sleek exterior design, enhanced sports-oriented interior detailing and an unparalleled driving experience with strong desirability and following. The interior has been carefully specified to complement the 308 GTi’s exterior, subtly emphasising its sporting credentials. The door sill carries the Peugeot Sport and GTi
icipated 308GTi signature, while the foot pedals, foot rest and gear knob are finished in aluminum. Red stitching features on the upholstery, door panels, gear lever and premium floor mats. The GTi 270 features Peugeot Sport race-inspired seats, upholstered in leather effect and Alcantara, which provide enhanced lateral support. The compact steering wheel - an integral part of the 308’s acclaimed Peugeot i-Cockpit cabin design - provides natural grip and precise direction. It features full-grain leather with a GTi logo at the base and a red centring mark at the top. The head-up display instrument panel readouts has a chequered backdrop, and a GTi greets the driver on start-up.
