PSA TARGETING ELE TECHNOLOGY
Peugeot, Citroen and DS, all part of the PSA Group have set out plans to produce higher capacity batteries and faster charging times for their electric & hybrid vehicles. The next-generation lithium ion batteries will also aim to reduce anxiety for battery electric vehicle owners through an increased range. The plans have set out that future plug-in hybrids will have 12kWh batteries (13kWh for SUVs), which are 12 times the capacity of existing plug-in hybrid packs and claim to be 20-30% more powerful than competitors, at 80kW and 90kW respectively. These batteries’ operating range is 210-350V (240-400V for the SUV). A 3.3kW onboard charger tops up PHEV batteries in 4.5 hours, or 2.5 hours if a 6.6kW fast charger is installed. The battery electric vehicles 7kW onboard charger can deliver enough charge in 90 minutes to drive 62 miles, while a full charge will take eight hours. A wall-mounted fast charger 2

PEUGEOT 3008 2017 SHORTLISTED can deliver an 80% charge in 30 minutes, or 7.5 miles of additional range per minute of charging. An increase in efficiency of research and development activity is expected to save €1.5 billion (£1.14bn) in five years, or €300m (£228m) per year. PSA plans to motivate engineers by giving them back the savings to invest in new programmes. The PSA group is expected to launch seven plug-in hybrids and four electric vehicles in the upcoming years, as well as implementing a connected and autonomous vehicle programme. THE ALL-NEW PEUGEO The experts & Critiques opi
Arriving after a flurry of new product activity, the new 3008 SUV has been received well and is receiving critical acclaim. The new offering has delivered comprehensively with a bold debut, which has delighted critics and Peugeot fans alike. The new 3008 SUV has also been lauded for the new generation digital Peugeot i-Cockpit being standard on all versions, arriving in the UK from January 2017.
Assertive & Bold The 3008 The new 3008 is “more assertive and countrified, with more ground clearance and a bolder front”, says Top Gear.
New design era The 3008’s new look “is certainly an interesting choice in the everexpanding sea of SUVs,” Car reports. “Save for the rampant lion in the centre of the upright grille, there’s precious little about the styling that says Peugeot, although the brand is clear that the 3008 heralds the dawn of a new design era for the company.” 8
New design era 3008 reborn as SUV The all-new 3008 has “ditched the MPV flavour of its predecessor for a harder-edged SUV-style look”, says Autocar.

OT 3008 inion Revamped Crowd Pleaser “The revamped Peugeot 2008 has the looks, capability and efficiency to be a crowd-pleaser,” the Daily Record reports.
Eye-catching “There’s no doubting that the new 3008 is much more of a conventional SUV than its predecessor,” James Richardson states in his CarBuyer article.

PURETECH PETROL ENGINE NAMED ‘2016 ENGINE OF THE YEAR’ Once again the 1.2litre three-cylinder Turbo PureTech petrol engine developed by PSA Group was named ‘Engine of the Year’ in the 1-litre to 1.4-litre category by a panel of international journalists. This award is just the latest achievement for the engine model, which is manufactured at Française de Mécanique plant in Douvrin, France. Commenting on the award, Christian Chapelle, Vice-President, Powertrain and Chassis Engineering, PSA Group, said: “Receiving this award for the second year in a row is a testament to our technological expertise and efforts to optimise our engines and reduce their environmental footprint while at the same time delivering high-quality performance.” Expanding the range of new generation PSA Group petrol engines To meet demands for reduction of polluting emissions, PSA Group has decided to increase
the three-cylinder petrol engine production capacity to support the growing popularity. Nearly 370,000 Turbo PureTech engines have been produced at the Douvrin plant since 2014. An additional production capacity of turbo petrol engines will be manufactured at the Trémery plant in eastern France, lifting potential annual output to 670,000 engines by 2018. Reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions while optimising vehicle performance With 120 patents to its name, the three-cylinder Turbo PureTech petrol engine cuts fuel consumption and

CO2emissions by 18% compared with its fourcylinder petrol predecessor. The engine holds two fuel economy records. It claimed it’s first in Europe in 2014, with a manual transmission vehicle. Its second came in China this year, when an automatic model travelled 1,878 kilometres on a single tank, achieving a record-breaking 2.93 litres per 100 kilometres. The engine also offers one of the most comfortable driving experiences on the market – even at the lowest speeds – and the best low speed/power compromise: 130 hp with torque of 230 Nm. The 1.2 PureTech 110
hp and 1.2 PureTech 130 hp engines are fitted on B and C segment vehicles. First launched in March 2014 on the Peugeot 308, the PureTech engine is now fitted on more than 60 different models worldwide, including the New Peugeot 3008 SUV unveiled on 23rd May 2016. PSA Peugeot three-cylinder architecture and range of technologies meet demanding technical specifications and ensures outstanding at-the-wheel pleasure, in which motor efficiency is improved, reducing cylinder volume while maintaining full performance. What had Team Hansen to say after the big win? Kenneth Hansen (Team Principal) “It turned out to be an important weekend, especially for Timmy who wasn’t really in the chase at the previous rounds. He was in excellent form throughout the meeting at Lydden Hill, though, and he eventually bagged a top-three finish. It is crucial for the team to have two drivers capable of fighting for the podium. Sébastien had technical problems and, unfortunately, didn’t make it to the final. Kevin had a fantastic run which was a superb way to celebrate his 18th birthday! And Davy came very close to joining them all in the semi-finals.” Timmy Hansen (Peugeot 208 WRX #21, Team Peugeot Hansen) “It’s fantastic to be back in the top three. It’s been some time since I last finished on the podium. The weekend went fairly smoothly for me, although I didn’t quite have the speed to battle with Solberg and Ekström. We will therefore need to keep on working but today’s result is almost like a victory for me. I gave it my all from the start of the weekend to the finish, as did my team. It felt great to be spraying the champagne again and it was also great to see that Kevin finished just behind me. It’s his best result to date and I am very proud of him!”

ot because I had quite a few problems. I had engine trouble during my first qualifying heat which dropped me to 17th position. The second heat was trouble-free but I picked up a puncture in the third one and, for the last heat, they sprayed the track with water just before my race. I still managed to qualify for the semi-finals but I had engine trouble again, so I didn’t make it to the final. I think we must have clocked up all the problems you can imagine. Let’s hope we have a clean run next time.” Kevin Hansen (Peugeot 208 WRX #71, Peugeot Hansen Academy) “I didn’t dare to dream of reaching the final so it’s just fantastic to have come away with such a strong result! I got off to a good start and found myself behind Petter and Timmy. I managed to stay in their slipstream, so I was quite proud of that. After may joker lap, I ended up fourth, just a few seconds adrift of the championship’s leaders. It’s my best result in the world championship to date. I don’t think there could have been a better way to celebrate turning 18!” READ THE ARTICLE ONLINE, CLICK HERE

Lethworth spinning!
On the 24th June Norton Way Group held a fundraising day to support the British Paralympic Association, this was to help Nissan’s commitment to Paralympics GB on their road to Rio.
Nissan, who is amongst one of the brand within our Norton Way Group, is the Official Automotive partner of British Paralympic Association and as part of the Heartbeat of Britain campaign our day aimed to supercharge ParalympicsGB athletes in their preparation for the Rio 2016 Games. At the last Games, the support of the nation inspired ParalympicsGB to give the performance of their lives, helping to make the London 2012 Games their most successful yet. On the day we raised a total of £348.25 and these funds will help make the team the strongest it can be ahead of Rio 2016. Their success can achieve the BPA’s wider charitable vision to challenge perceptions and inspire a better world for disabled people.
