The New Micra N-Tec is due for launch this month after its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show on the 15th September. The N-Tec model will be positioned between the current Acenta & Tekna models and will highlight enhanced style with innovative technology at an affordable price.

The Nissan Juke will soon be five years old.

Cakes, candles and pass the parcel are old news, the correct way to mark the occasion is with power. Supercar-bashing levels of power, to be more precise.

Juke R 2.0, as it’s been dubbed, utilises the powertrain from the Nismo GT-R, which means Ferrari 458 Speciale-beating power and torque, a circa-3.0-second 0-60mph time and the potential – should the Juke’s plump body not curtail the aerodynamics too much – to nudge 200mph.

Rumour has it that the Juke R 2.0 sits atop the remnants of the Nismo GT-R that made too intimate a greeting with a haybale at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and takes its bow at the same event one year later.

It’s not a new concept, of course, and we’ve already seen a Nissan Juke R before. The 2011 original saw the gizzards of a GT-R squeezed under the little crossover – presumably with a very large, angry shoehorn – producing a 478bhp, fourwheel-drive headcase.

Such was the success that Nissan has done it all over again, this time with the recently facelifted Juke, more steroidal styling elements and more power. The 600bhp Nissan Juke-R 2.0 is a crazy 6

JUKE R the hill, where it’s likely to set times that embarrass some of the rather iconic old supercars and racers making the same trek.

As before, this is officially a concept car.

But the last Juke R titillated supercar collectors, leading to Nissan receiving offers plump enough to start a small production run and we wouldn’t bet against the same thing happening again.

Nissan Navara flying high N O R T O N WAY N I S S A N • I S S U E 1 1 • S E P T 2 0 1 5

Nissan Navara Lands High Flying Roles with Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd. The go-anywhere Nissan Navara has been drafted into service to provide specialist services at airports across the Scottish Highlands, Northern Isles and Western Isles.

Highlands and Islands Airport Ltd has taken six of the durable and dependable pick-ups, adding them to 19 other Nissans on its 100-strong fleet that includes everything from city cars, boats and minibuses to a 32-tonne airside fire appliance.

One Navara has been kitted out as a specialist fire command vehicle - complete with blue light pack and ground to tower radio system - and is now in operation with highly trained firefighters at Inverness Airport.

Another two have been fitted with specialist bird scaring equipment, including high decibel external speakers, and are being used to minimise the dangers and disruption caused by huge colonies of native birds at Sumburgh and Stornoway airports.

Paul Rodden, Chief Engineer and fleet manager at Highlands and Islands Airports, said: “We went through a procurement procedure three years ago and Nissan came out on top. They were the only manufacturer that could supply vehicles that met our brief.

But despite its ruggedness and durability, the Navara - priced from £22,415 RRP - offers a car-like drive and features an array of creature comforts such as Bluetooth telephone integration, dual zone climate control and an optional satnav.

To celebrate the summer travel season, Nissan has identified five of Europe’s most breathtaking electric drives, using its allelectric LEAF - the world’s best-selling electric vehicle - and the e-NV200, its 100 percent electric van.

Nissan, the global leader in electric vehicles, travelled more than 125 miles along some of Europe’s most beautiful roads, taking in the incredible views and hooking up with the charging points en route.

The journey kicked into gear in Italy in Rieti which is affectionately known as the ‘Italian belly button’, Ombelico d’Italia, the geographical centre of the country. On a whistle stop tour of the Eternal City of Rome, the first LEAF travelled through the stunning villages surrounding the Turano Lake, including the medieval village of Toffia.

Next stop was Barcelona, Spain, as the e-NV200 took a trip down memory lane to where

it was launched just over 12 months ago. Before reaching the e-NV200’s place of birth it visited the beautiful coastal town of Sitges, 35 km southwest of Barcelona and noted for its film festival and carnival. On arrival into Barcelona, a city known around the world for famous architect Gaudí’s work but less so for its impressive network of over 130 charging points, the electric van charged into the heart of Barcelona’s Old City. To finish the Spanish leg of the tour, the e-NV200 drove along the stunning coastal road, the C-31, boasting glorious views over the Balearic Sea and the Garraf Massif mountain range.

Commencing in Bunkeflostrand in southern Sweden, the convoy headed to Denmark across Øresund Bridge. With sweeping views of the sea as far as the eye could see, the iconic 5 mile bridge was a stunning way to end that ‘leg’ of the tour.
