he concept will pursue a goal of zero emission vehicles and fatalities on the road, the Intelligent Mobility vision is designed to guide Nissan’s product and technology pipe. It will anchor critical company decisions around how cars are powered, driven and integrate with society. The first event will be hosted by Nissan’s European Chairman Paul Wilcox and will unveil a series of breakthrough announcements concerning electric vehicles and next generation battery technology.
VEHICLE-TO-GRID TRAIL IN THE UK
Partnership with energy provider Enel that will see Nissan electric vehicles supplying the UK’s National Grid with an efficient and flexible source of energy. A trial of 100 vehicle-to-grid (V2G) units will commence in the UK later this year. It will enable Nissan electric vehicle owners to give energy from their vehicle’s battery back to the UK grid, providing a cost effective, sustainable and reliable source of power, while helping consumers save and make money. Paul Willcox, Chairman of Nissan Europe, said: “Today’s landmark trial in the UK is a significant step forward in renewable energy management, helping shape the future of industries, cities and societies. Smart energy management is one of the biggest challenges any nation faces for the future which is why this trial is so critical in assessing the feasibility of using variable, more flexible energy sources. We see Nissan electric vehicles as being the mobile energy hubs of the future, pioneering a self-sustaining energy infrastructure that will help solve the capacity issues of the future.”

XSTORAGE: RESIDENTIAL ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM
Developed alongside Eaton, the global leaders in power management. The system will not only give Nissan electric vehicle batteries a ‘second life’, but will also provide customers with a fully integrated energy storage solution that will put energy management and distribution back in the hands of the consumer. The innovative system connects residential power supply and renewable energy sources, then can save customers money on their utility bills by charging up when renewable energy is available or energy is cheaper (During the night). It can then release stored energy when demand and costs are high. It will also have smartphone connectivity to allow customers to flick between energy sources at one touch of a button.
INTEGRATION
Confirmation that Nissan will integrate V2G technology and energy storage solutions into all of its major European offices by the end of 2017. Further details will be announced in the coming months. CLICK HERE TO READ THE ARTICLE ONLINE

NISSAN LEAF MAKING THE HEADLINES!
50,000 LEAFS PRODUCED Three years after Nissan introduced electric vehicle and battery manufacturing to Europe, the 50,000th European-built Nissan leaf has rolled off the production line.

The leaf is manufactured in Sunderland, UK, Nissan’s flagship plant, and the factory has now built 50,000 electric vehicles and the batteries which power them- further confirmation of Nissan’s innovation and leadership in electric vehicle technology. The 50,000th model was a Tekna grade in silver and is destined for a customer in France. European-built Nissan Leafs are currently exported to 23 global markets covering Western Europe and other destinations such as Argentina, Iceland and Israel.
The manufacturing of the electric vehicle was launched in the UK in 2013 by Prime Minister David Cameron and supports over 2,000 jobs at Nissan and its UK suppliers. 2016 has been a standout year for the Nissan Leaf after introducing the extendedrange model and announcing a £26.5m investment in the plant for future generation batteries. Paul Wilcox, Chairman, Nissan Europe said: “This milestone is another first for Nissan and for our team in Sunderland. No other brand has Nissan’s experience or expertise in both battery and vehicle 6
production, and I’m thrilled that over 50,000 customers in Europe share our vision for a zero-emission future.” UK Transport Minister, Andrew Jones said: “This major milestone is great news for Nissan and yet another example of Britain leading the way in developing cleaner vehicle technology, which is good for the environment and supports jobs and growth. Our goal is for nearly every car to be zero emission by 2050 and we are investing £600 million in electric vehicles to make this a reality.”

NISSAN LEAF MAKING THE HEADLINES!
WEDDING BELLS IN A NISSAN LEAF
Nissan were feeling very romantic recently when loaning a Dundee couple’s dream car and giving it a wild makeover. The couple, Elinor Chalmers and Steve Dent tied the knot at ZSS Edinburgh Zoo and wanted their ceremony to reflect their passions- animals and electric motoring. The Leaf was given a Zoological Wrap, which was designed by the newlyweds, featuring the Edinburgh Zoo’s famous giant pandas and daily penguin parade. The beaming bride Elinor commented: “How many people can say they’ve turned up for their wedding in a car like that? “It’s something we’ll remember forever and I don’t think our wedding guests will forget it either.” She added: “I currently own the 24kWh Nissan LEAF and that’s why the new 30kWh model was my dream wedding car. “The LEAF is a car that always attracts attention and people are always coming up to you with questions about electric cars but it’s never turned more heads than it did on Sunday.”
