It’s a great month for Suzuki and a great year, have you heard?

Suzuki received some great news at the recent NFDA (National Franchised Dealers Association) Autumn Ball where it was presented with the Manufacturer of the Year Award. The award was given to Suzuki in recognition of its very strong working relationship with its 154-strong franchised dealer network and the fact that it has consistently scored high in the NFDA survey. Sales and Marketing Director, Dale Wyatt, comments: “All of us here at Suzuki are really pleased to receive the Manufacturer of the Year Award. Suzuki has scored well in the NFDA surveys which is very encouraging and demonstrates the successful and profitable relationships we are building with our dealers, not least through listening to what they have to say but also taking their experiences and business priorities into account. “By achieving strong and mutually rewarding business partnerships, we can also provide the right environment to deliver customer satisfaction, both in the showroom and in aftersales operations. Getting these basic elements right is crucial to

securing the future success of Suzuki and our dealer partners.” The growing success of Suzuki’s dealer development programme and the company’s good relationship with its dealers across the UK was reflected earlier this year in the results of the NFDA survey in which it moved up from fifth to third position overall by its dealer network. Sue Robinson, NFDA Director commented: “The 2015 NFDA Awards was a deserved salute to a sector whose high levels of expertise and skills go unacknowledged far too often. Congratulations to all the winners, they are all greatly deserving of these accolades.” So come on in and visit us to see what Suzuki would best suit your life, we promise you that you’ll love each and every one! We have a brand new showroom as well so you can enjoy your surroundings while experiencing the great range of cars we have on show.

The New Suzuki Vitara S goes turbo petrol at Frankfurt N O R T O N WAY S U Z U K I • I S S U E 1 3 • N O V 2 0 1 5

Suzuki has revealed a new ‘S’ grade for the Vitara crossover, with 138bhp 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine at the Frankfurt Motorshow.

N O R T O N WAY S U Z U K I • I S S U E 1 3 • N O V 2 0 1 5

Some people said that the new Suzuki Vitara lacked a turbocharged petrol engine to truly compete with rivals. Well Suzuki listened and responded with the new ‘S’ version of the compact crossover. Featuring an all-new 1.4-litre direct-injection turbo petrol engine, the Vitara S produces 138bhp and 220Nm of torque, significantly more than the 118bhp and 156Nm output of the current naturally-aspirated 1.6. It’s not clear yet if Suzuki plans to replace that unit with the new turbo. Despite the power and torque boost, Suzuki customers can expect combined economy figures to improve over the already competitive 50.4mpg

and 130g/km of the current petrol. As well as the new engine, the Vitara S also receives styling enhancements inside and out to mark it out as the flagship model in the range. A five-slot chrome front grille debuts, and red accents across the leather and suede interior. The familiar suite of active safety kit is also available. Suzuki plans customer deliveries before the end of the year, and although there’s no official confirmation of UK figures it’s highly likely the Vitara S will reach our shores and the forecourt of Norton Way Suzuki.

Suzuki’s Goes Ba N O R T O N WAY S U Z U K I • I S S U E 1 3 • N O V 2 0 1 5

At Norton Way Suzuki we love a new concept car and recently we have really been treated as there have been a whole host of fantastic cars both at early concept stage and near production stage.

reviving car names it has used in the past, the car could well wear the Ignis name in the UK, just like the company has done for the new Baleno. The Ignis will partner Suzuki’s new Celerio city car at the bottom end of its model line-up. It’ll be an A-segment crossover with the only real competition coming from the Fiat Panda 4x4, and will be available with the option of two or fourwheel drive. The crossover will be a new addition to Suzuki’s growing range, and not a replacement for its ageing Jimmy off-roader – as widely speculated – despite it being just 2mm longer. The current Jimny (which has been on sale since 1998 and sells around 1,000 units a year in Britain) will soldier until at least 2018, before being replaced by a new car showcasing a different look but relying on a no-nonsense, mud-plugging cocktail

So to hear that there was another production car being launched at the Tokyo motorshow got us really excited! There is a Retro styled crossover coming in 2017 and it’s named Ignis. Hot on the heels of revealing the new Baleno at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show, Suzuki pulled the covers off its new retro-styled baby SUV at this month’s Tokyo show. The dinky SUV is badged Ignis and was joined on Suzuki’s stand by a more off-road inspired version called the Ignis Trail Concept. While Suzuki hasn’t confirmed the Ignis name for the UK, the company has confirmed that the car will arrive here in 2017. Suzuki previewed the car with a concept at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. It was called ‘iM4’ and considering Suzuki’s current fondess for 6

of a ladder chassis and permanent four-wheel drive. The car is designed to bear little resemblance to other cars in Suzuki’s range, instead looking backwards to Suzuki’s heritage. There are clear styling cues to the Suzuki SC 100 ‘Whizzkid’ Coupe of the 1970s, but in a pumped-up crossover package. Under the bonnet will be Suzuki’s fuelsipping 1.2-litre Dualjet petrol engine as recently revealed in the Swift, and a brand new 1.0-litre turbocharged ‘Boosterjet’ petrol. Suzuki hasn’t ruled out offering mild and full hybrid power, either. We love talking about our current and the up and coming Suzuki range so why not call or visit us and see how Suzuki can spice up your life!

Suzuki Take

As we know Suzuki won the Manufacturer of the Year award recently, so it’s no surprise that our range of cars is performing great up against some of their competitors. Here we take a look at some of the comparisons. But don’t just take our word for it, come and test drive them for yourself at Norton Way Suzuki, Letchworth. READ THE FULL ARTICLE ON THE SUZUKI CELERIO ONLINE NOW!

The contenders Suzuki Celerio 1.0 Dualjet SZ3 Vs. Vauxhall Viva 1.0 SE a/c Buyers of budget city cars invariably have ‘convenience’ and ‘low costs’ at the top of their list of priorities – and the new Vauxhall Viva and Suzuki Celerio seem to have both bases covered. These five-door urban hatchbacks have lower list prices than big-selling city car rivals such The Viva and Celerio are also available with attractive PCP deals, crucial in this class where monthly payments are a big factor in buying decisions. Both cars are around the same size and have a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine and fivespeed manual gearbox. But where does the Celerio triumph? The Celerio is responsive enough by class standards and you can potter around town without constantly having to change gear. If you travel

es on the Rest

outside of town you’ll be happy to know that the Celerio’s steering is heavier at higher speeds, which helps to make the Celerio more stable. When looking at comfort, the Celerio is more comfortable, moving around less over poor surfaces yet remaining equally composed over bigger bumps. Visibility is easier thanks to its higher rear roofline and broader rear screen. Both cars have decent forward visibility and short bonnets that allow you to judge the cars’ proportions easily. If passenger space or cabin versatility is a priority, the Celerio has got you covered. It has usefully more leg and head room in the back, and the boxier styling and squarer rear door openings make access a simpler affair. The Celerio’s rear seats drop easily but leave a big step in the floor, which is a pain when you’re sliding in heavy items. The Celerio has a wider, deeper boot – complete

with a bag hook and load bay cover that opens with the boot lid means it also has the more practical luggage area, although both cars have big drops from the boot lips to the floor. \ So the figures, the Celerio is cheaper to buy and also has a better fuel economy at 62.9mog versus 48.9mpg. More significantly, you get more relevant standard equipment with the Celerio. Vauxhall has thrown in some big-car benefits, such as cruise control, lane departure warning, heated door mirrors and front fog lights, none of which feature on the Celerio. Whether it’s for around town or to adventure with at the weekends, Suzuki is the option for you. Come test drive our range now by calling or clicking to book. UP NEXT MONTH: THE SUZUKI VITARA VS. NORTON WAY SUZUKI WINTER CHECK ONLY £19.99 Winter is coming, are you prepared? With the winter approaching us it is the perfect time to get your vehicle ready for the sudden change of conditions. Why we should check these areas: Tyres These are an essential part of keeping your vehicle safe, especially in the winter months when having to contend with ice and snow. The safety check will include checking your tyres overall condition, pressure and thread depth. You can also be giving extra piece of mind by choosing Winter Tyres, these can be fully fitted and provided by us.

Windscreen system Bad weather and less daylight mean visibility on the road reduces, this highlights the importance of a clean windscreen. The check will ensure wiper blades aren’t damaged and free of splits. Screen wash should be topped up with the correct strength to ensure it does not freeze. Battery Colder temperatures lead to slower chemical reactions within the battery which reduce performance. This alongside the additional usage of heating and lights, make battery failure much more common in the winter. This highlights the importance of checking its performance leading into the winter

Coolant Your engine’s coolant is under the risk of freezing in the winter months, leading to the coolant system being redundant. It is essential to check the anti- freeze levels to stop this from happening. Light Bulbs With the number of daylight hours reducing, driving in the dark is much more common in the winter months. Ensuring your vehicle’s lights are working correctly is critical for your own safety and others on the road.
