The all new Baleno, an ideal hatchback from compact car expert Suzuki is set to make its world premiere at the 66th IAA Frankfurt Motor Show. The debut of the full production version follows on from the iK-2 Concept seen at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year. The Baleno harmoniously combines stylish design, spacious interior and new technologies. These new technologies include the first application of the newly Suzuki developed 1.0-litre These new technologies include the first application of the newly Suzuki developed 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET direct injection turbocharged petrol engine that saves fuel while delivering driving pleasure. Fuel efficiency has been improved by reducing engine displacement; output and torque are boosted by using a turbocharger.

In addition to fulfilling fuel efficiency and dynamic performance expectations, the layout has been optimised and various technologies used to reduce weight in order to meet the rigorous size and weight requirements specific to compact cars. The new Baleno will be launched in the UK early next Summer.

Quirky iM-4 green light Suzuki bosses have given the quirky iM-4 mini crossover the green light for production. It’ll arrive in 2018 with a starting price of around £11,000 with two- or fourwheel drive, and will be powered by a range of naturally aspirated and new turbocharged petrol engines.

Revealed at this year’s Geneva Motor Show, the iM-4 will partner Suzuki’s new Celerio city car at the bottom end of its model line-up. It’ll be an A-segment crossover with the only real competition coming from the Fiat Panda 4x4. A source told Auto Express the iM-4 is almost production ready and said that there will be very few changes to the Geneva concept car’s styling. The car is designed to bear little resemblance to other cars in Suzuki’s range, instead looking backwards to Suzuki’s heritage. There are clear styling cues to the Suzuki SC 100 ‘Whizzkid’ Coupe of the 1970s, but in a pumped-up crossover package. Suzuki’s new Vitara has been awarded high scores in all four areas of assessment and also exceeds the minimum level required in all of these to attain the five star rating. The new Vitara’s passive and active safety systems are designed to intelligently anticipate and react to potentially dangerous situations with an excellent level of protection. One of its major safety features is Total Effective Control Technology which is a concept for occupant protecting impact absorption and low weight developed by Suzuki.

Emissions The Vitara amazing credentials are further supported by the ALLGRIP DDiS model which is the cleanest non-hybrid 4x4 on the market. CO2 emissions are just 111g/km for the 1.6-litre DDiS SZ5 ALLGRIP model with an EC combined fuel consumption figure of 67.2mpg. From the launch of Vitara in April, Suzuki will offer three low CO2 emission 4x4 models from its range and these are all within the top four most fuel efficient 4x4s on the market. Four-wheel drive is typically seen as detrimental to fuel economy and emissions performance. By contrast, Suzuki’s ALLGRIP system enables CO2 emissions that are remarkably low for a four-wheel drive petrolpowered SUV as well, with figures of 130g/km with five-speed manual transmission and 131g/ km with optional six-speed automatic transmission that will be available in the summer.

Suzuki Service Suzuki GB PLC has now unveiled its Service Promise, a new aftersales programme designed to ensure that vehicle owners receive a consistently high standard of care across its entire network of Service Centres. The introduction of the nationwide scheme is the result of extensive research forums whereby customers gave direct feedback of what they really want from Suzuki when it’s time for a service or repair. Service Promise also builds on the positive results of the 2014 Motor Codes Report whereby in the annual survey of UK motorists, Suzuki was named as the manufacturer which provided drivers with the best overall service and repair experience in the UK, with 97.5 per cent of individuals fully satisfied. As part of the nine point Service Promise, all prices quoted are fully transparent with no hidden charges and the charter underlines the importance of all pre-approved work being carried out by Suzuki’s expertly trained technicians, as well as the use of Genuine Parts for the replacement of worn components.

The owner of the vehicle will equally receive a progress report on the day of servicing, and prior to the car being returned, the Suzuki Service Centre will undertake a complementary vehicle health check for added customer peace of mind. This is combined with a wash and vacuum of the exterior and interior respectively for any model that has been pre-booked for work. Finally, the Service Promise reinforces Suzuki’s offer of round-the-clock support in the event of an accident and owners have access to a dedicated 24-hour AfterCare helpline if their vehicle is damaged.
