The Africa Twin is back! It was first designed to withstand thousands of miles of desert and dirtnow it’s returning to do it all over again.
Some motorcycles encapsulate perfectly what an adventure motorcycle is all about. The original XRV650 Africa Twin - which debuted in 1988, after the first 3 out of 4 consecutive wins at the Paris-Dakar - was one such machine. It’s go-anywhere ability, rugged durability, easy-handling agility and allday comfort made it the perfect partner with which to explore. And it helped to define a motorcycling segment that has now grown into one of the most popular worldwide. The new Africa Twin remains true to all the attributes and abilities of the XRV650 and its successor the XRV750, while adding
the benefits of everything Honda has learnt on and off-road over the last decade. Honda’s thought process behind the Africa Twin, is to enable people to live their dreams- be able to explore the far reaches of our planet, discover exotic lands and to have incredible features. In light of this and the release of the new Africa Twin, Honda have launched the #TrueAdventure campaign. Check out the campaigns YouTube Video Series here: www.youtube.com or join in if you heading on a big adventure by using the hashtag to send in your photos! Some examples of #TrueAdventure: • Steph Jeavons is travelling the world on her Honda CRF250L. To get to Antarctica, she rode a 60ft yacht across the Drake Passage from Chile, where whales and penguin colonies greeted her along the way. • Professional photographer Liam McCabe packed his camera on his Africa Twin and set off to tour South America. He snapped everything he saw along the way – including the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile.

Scooter vs Life isn’t a race but it’s nice to get to your destination quickly. Even better if you’re saving money and enjoying yourself at the same time…
Queuing for buses, filing down packed escalators, standing nose-to-nose (or worse, nose-to-armpit) with complete strangers… these are the things we accept as part and parcel of the daily commute if we live in a city. A necessary evil. But it’s not actually ‘necessary’ at all and we do have a choice. A scooter represents liberation to thousands every day: freedom from crowds, unreliable transport services or from endless traffic jams if you’re driving. The scooter is light, nimble, efficient and fun – but is it faster than public transport in a crowded city? We decided to put it to the test. With a predetermined
route from Spitalfields market, near Liverpool Street in east London to South Kensington in the west, we pitted scooter versus commuter. Who will win? Place your bets… The verdict Commuter (journey time 44 mins) : I’ve been commuting for 8 years and I do find it quite stressful. It’s so crowded that you find yourself getting very irritated when people are in your way. The only way to get through it is to zone out by reading a book or magazine. It’s slow too – even though my Tube journey only takes 24 minutes, I have a 10 minute walk to and from the stations. I am seriously thinking of getting a scooter, I love the idea of being in the fresh air rather than a hot, sweaty Tube train. Scooter (journey time 24 mins) : I hate using public transport now! On my scooter I have control of my own time, I don’t get held up by train delays or traffic jams so I know exactly how long my journey will take. It’s really cheap and you don’t have to pay to park. I’m outside in the fresh air and I have a great route through London past all the famous sights. CLICK HERE TO READ THE FULL ARTICLE ONLINE WITH OUR NEW ONLINE READER 4

Honda have created the super exclusive Honda RC213V-S; this is a road- legal replica of the MotoGP bikes racing in the world championship.

NW HONDA BIKES • ISSUE 12 • OCT 2015
The bike has been on sale through online orders over the summer months, for a price of £137,000. Only 213 bikes are being built and it has been rumored that over 220 orders have already being taken, with 37 of them being in the UK. This means despite the bikes mammoth price tag it was completely sold out when orders closed on September 30th. The RC213V-S has been developed according to this Honda principle, making it possible for the RC213V, which has won MotoGP championships for two seasons in a row in 2013 and 2014, to run on public roads. The RC213V-S has inherited the specifications of the RC213V to thoroughly ensure mass concentration and reduced friction, as well as all key aspects in manufacturing that set the RC213V apart as a MotoGP machine from ordinary mass production models, with overwhelming differences which involve light weight and precise machining of the components, plus superior expert skills required in manufacturing.
RC213V-S however is for public roads, so Honda had to make some changes and additions to create a roadworthy bike. While RC-213V-S is mostly identical to RC213V, the following modifications had to be made: Pneumatic valves were replaced with coil springs. The seamless gearbox was also replaced with a regular roadgoing one. These parts are more durable for long term use and were adopted from the readily available RCV1000R open category racing bike. To meet road laws, RC213V-S is equipped with head/ taillights, side mirrors, speedometer, muffler with catalytic converter, license plate holder, horn, etc. The RC213V-S is no longer available but Norton Way Honda currently has the entire Honda Super Sport range available to order. In engine sizes from 125cc to 1000cc, there are at number of different options depending on your license type and rider preferences. VISIT THIS LINK FOR MORE INFORMATION

MEET THE TEAM
STEVE WARREN Norton Way Honda Service Manager, Bryan Smith, thought this was the perfect opportunity to credit one of his long standing members of his team, who truly identifies our award winning service.
Steve is one of Bike Technicians at Norton Way Honda, we thought this would be a great opportunity for you to meet one of the faces behind the scenes at our dealership. Background Steve was born in Welwyn Garden City. He has lived in the Hertfordshire area all of his life, spending his childhood growing up in Stevenage. Biking Life Steve’s first biking memory was at 5 years old, when he used to go to watch his Dad drag race around the UK. Steve soon adopted his dad’s passion for Bikes and decided that he wanted to be racing bikes one day. Steve got his first bike at 16 but couldn’t wait to start driving something bigger than a 50cc. Speedway Like his Dad, Steve soon got into racing motorbikes. For 2 years, Steve travelled the country both racing and as a mechanic in Speedway. He goes onto say racing Speedway is like nothing else due to the fact the bikes have no brakes, just one gear, a clutch and 500cc engines, all in a bike that accelerates faster than a F1 car. Whilst racing Speedway, Steve also competed in drag racing, just like his Dad use too.
Past Work Experience Before starting at Norton Way, Steve was heavily involved in the retail sector with jobs at both Matalan and Go Outdoors. After a number of years in retail Steve realised that he wanted to be doing something with his passion- Motorbikes and started to look for a change in career. Life at Norton Way Honda In 2011 Steve started his career at Norton Way working in the Parts Department. He soon became apparent that Steve had a wealth of knowledge that would be suitable for a technician and was encouraged to start his apprenticeship. After 3 years of training, he fully qualified in 2014, he now loves working with his passion and doing something he enjoys. Steve goes onto say the best thing about working for Norton Way is the people around him, he states his team are fantastic and provide excellent support. When asked about why you should buy a Honda, he said the brand has fantastic reliability, great racing heritage and a range of bikes that look amazing.
