Help us on our mission to create a nation of Shakespeare and theatre lovers. Norwich Theatre Royal has been working hand in hand with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) and other partner theatres to give anybody the opportunity to feel the transformative power of theatre and Shakespeare. A Tale of Many Cities explores our own city’s response to the themes of Shakespeare’s most popular play Romeo and Juliet. Run by Norwich Theatre Royal’s Learning & Participation team, the project is part of Shakespeare Nation – an RSC initiative that gives people from all backgrounds the opportunity to experience the thrill of Shakespeare in their own communities and build a life-long relationship with theatre.
Funded by The Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, Shakespeare Nation aims to engage people who would not normally think theatre and Shakespeare are for them. There are different ways to be involved, from watching a performance to making a star at home or taking part in our song and music workshops. Everyone is welcome to join in!
In his series of portraits, photographer and lecturer, Erin Patel, celebrates the diverse stories of the current custodians of the market, as well as the physical distance between their place of birth and stalls as part of his continued exploration of human migration.

We’ll explore voice, song, percussion, rhythm and some instruments (that participants may bring along). Led by singer and theatre director Joseph Ballard and accompanist Jane Everard. Ages 18+, all abilities welcome!
What if you are faced with a dilemma: be gone and live, or stay and die. Imagine arriving in a world different to your own, filled with new colours, new freedoms and new loves. What if this new land fills with rage and torment as a new generation takes up their parents’ hostilities and two star-crossed lovers emerge with their forbidden love; shining as bright as their parents hate.
Palm To Palm is a new piece of theatre, directed by Miche Montague, that has been made in response to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet with participation from members of Evolve (Mancroft Advice Project), New Routes and University of East Anglia students and staff. Running time: 1 hour
