Free Family Easter Egg Hunt A Huge Success In Thringstone Over 120 people attended the Easter Egg hunt in Thringstone on Thursday 29th March. The free event was organised by Charles Booth Centre, in conjunction with Friends of Thringstone. Starting at 10am from the centre, which was formerly known as Thringstone House Community Centre, families received a quiz sheet and a map to follow around the village looking to answer the set of questions. On returning to the centre, children were presented with an egg. Business Development Manager for the centre, Holly Kerley, said “We are absolutely delighted with the turnout of this event, we had perfect weather and we were so happy to see so many families come together, it was community spirit at its finest.” Due to the success of the morning, the centre and Friends of Thringstone will be holding a treasure hunt around the village in the summer. PHOTO: Cadets from the 1188 Coalville Squadron Air Training Corps were joined for the Coalville litter pick by a handful of community volunteers, councillors and staff from NWLDC’s Street Cleansing team.
Cadets Get Their Hands Dirty As Coalville Gets A Spring Clean Young members of the Coalville Army Cadets have been out in force to help remove more than 60 bin bags of litter from the town after joining the annual community spring clean. Coalville was just one of a number of towns and villages across North West Leicestershire to host a litter pick over the last few weeks as part of the Great British Spring Clean. Led by North West Leicestershire District Council, the Coalville clean-up targeted parts of the town that attract the most litter, including Ashby Road, Baker Street, Thornborough Road and Bridge Road. The team of cadets from the 1188 Coalville Squadron Air Training Corps were joined by a handful of community volunteers, councillors and staff from NWLDC’s Street Cleansing team. Ashby’s litter pick, which was organised by the town council and supported by NWLDC, saw more than 150 bags collected by an army of around 40 volunteers. Councillor Alison Smith MBE, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Community Services at North West Leicestershire District Council, said: “Thank you to all the litter pickers across the district that gave up their time to make our towns and villages cleaner and tidier. Our Street Cleansing team works tirelessly to remove litter from the district but they can’t be everywhere at once, and we’re so grateful to the volunteers that help us with the huge task. Of course, a better solution is that people don’t drop litter in the first place. We’d love to one day have to cancel all community litter picks! I’d encourage anyone who appreciates the hard work done by the cadets, our staff and volunteers across the district to think before they drop litter – take it home or put it in a bin.”
Visitors Have A Whale Of A Time At Coalville Writes Festival The first ever Coalville Writes festival, which featured award winning authors, poetry and a giant performance-hosting metal whale, has been hailed a success. Joanne Harris, famed for her hit novel Chocolat, headlined the weekendlong event with her ‘Storytime’ show at the town’s Century Theatre. The festival celebrated the written word with a range workshops, performances and films all around the town. This included the very popular giant metal whale which swallowed each of its small audiences whole for a fun and heart-warming performances inside. Dave Wood, better known as Dr Rhyme, was at the Belvoir Centre to create spot poems about everything and anything depending on the requests of each person that paid him a visit. There were also appearances from authors Emma Pass and Emma Bamford, poetry workshops and a variety of films shown at the Century Theatre. Coalville Writes was organised by Mantle Arts and sponsored by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC), the National Forest and the Arts Council. Matthew Pegg from Mantle Arts, said: “We had a great variety of things happening. We tried to include something for everyone, from young children to adults. And all the feedback we've had has been really positive. People were happy to see something new happening."
Hazel McDowell was one of the volunteers that joined the Coalville litter pick. She said: "It was good to take part in the Coalville litter pick and to do something which has a positive impact on our local environment. I think it is a great way to bring the community together and will hopefully encourage more people to get involved and make a difference."
Councillor Alison Smith MBE, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Community Services at NWLDC, said: “I think it’s great that something so different came to Coalville, and I know that those that went along really enjoyed themselves. We want people to choose Coalville when it comes to shopping, socialising and entertainment, and having a festival like this in the town a great way of encouraging this.”
Community litter picking is not something that is only done during the Great British Spring Clean and NWLDC encourages volunteers to take part all year round.
Joanne Harris said: “I really enjoyed the Coalville Writes festival. It was a great atmosphere, terrific venue, and the staff were warm and helpful. I'd recommend it to anyone."
The district already has a healthy team of community litter pickers, and if you would like to get involved, visit www.nwleics.gov.uk/litter or contact Ruth or Jackie on 01530 454863.
Visitor to the festival, Lucy Hine, 28, from South Derbyshire, said: “It was well worth a visit, especially the performance inside the whale – I’d never experienced anything quite like it before!”

Latest News From... Spring Into Action Spring is in the air and we are surrounded by the images of cute and cuddly pictures of baby animals at this time. Aaaarh! Well, traditionally baby animals are born in spring after the parent animals have paired up. Although some parents share the responsibility of rearing their young, often in nature, this is not the case. It’s also not the case that baby animals are only born in springtime. Cats seem to have extended their season to breed throughout the year as the rescue centres across the country know. Pregnant females are often brought into rescue centres like Woodside and we are often full to bursting in the cattery! If mums have their kittens away from human company, these kittens grow up semi-wild and then become a local problem. Very quickly afterwards, the mums become pregnant again and the cycle continues. Sadly, stray, lost and unneutered cats live on the edge and are often injured in fights and are weakened by poor diet. The answer? Do please get your male and female cats neutered and microchipped. It is amazing how many cats we deal with at Woodside as strays without a microchip. With a microchip we would be able to reunite them with their owners. We put our pregnant mums into foster-care so that they, and their kittens, don’t become institutionalised in the cattery. It gives the mums security and this reduces their stress and the kittens grow up in a home environment. All of our mums are neutered and microchipped once their kittens are independent and all of the kittens are neutered and microchipped as part of our adoption process. This prevents the inevitable decline of the health of cats, as neutered cats generally settle into domestic life very gratefully! Spring Tips For Cats:
• Make sure your cats are neutered • Microchip your cat • Ensure your details are up-to-date on the microchip • Keep an eye out for fleas • Use flea treatment regularly • Treat your home if your pets have fleas (Oh yes! Statistics suggest that for every flea you see on your cat, there are 9 more in your home!!!!!)
• Use worm treatment regularly • Groom your cat and put their fur out for the birds • If you would like to become a cat fosterer for Woodside, please our Reception team on 0116 2336677
• If you need help to microchip your pet, this can be arranged if you 0116 2336677. You would need proof of ownership (eg vaccination card) plus a utility bill. It’s a quick and efficient procedure and is a fantastic way to reunite lost cats with their owners. Baby Birds: Birds will use the fur that you have groomed from your pets to line their nests. It is not too late to put up nest boxes in your garden but do please make sure they don’t face the prevailing wind and are also not exposed to the midday sun. When baby birds are in their nest or nest box, they are relatively contained and safe. Once they fledge (leave their nests) they are very vulnerable. Parents still feed them for a few weeks but the babies are out in the open and are easy targets for a variety of dangers. If you find a baby bird, don’t touch it unless you believe it to be in danger. If you feel it needs to be moved, place the fledgling into a bush with plenty of cover, even thorns, to deter predators. Stand back, keep an eye on the baby and soon the parents should return to feed it. You might hear “peeps” which is the communication calls between babies and their parents. Dawn and dusk are particularly vulnerable times for fledglings and it is best if domestic cats are kept indoors during this time. Bird lovers are always quick to blame cats and their owners for the deaths of birds so I urge cat owners to think about their cats’ routines. We now live closer to others in our neighbourhoods with greater chances of cats being killed or injured on the roads so this is another good reason to consider for keeping cats in overnight. Make sure that you continue to feed your birds and put out fresh water too. Parent birds will often feed their offspring seeds, caterpillars and insects and then use our feeding stations to top up their own diets. Avoid salty food scraps and “kibble” or break up peanuts in case these are fed to baby birds where they could easily get stuck. Spring Tips For Birds:
• Put that nest box up before it’s too late! Birds like to explore these and often choose ones that have had chance to “weather”.
• Put out the fur you have groomed from pets for the birds to use for their nest-building. There is nothing better than to see a blue tit flying off with a hairy moustache that it will weave into its nest.
• Ensure good hygiene on bird feeding stations • Put out regular supplies of food and fresh water to help the parent birds to stay in good health.
• Please remember, if you can, keep your cats in from dusk to dawn to enable the fledglings to be safe.
How To Get Help:
• Speak to your vet/vet nurse about flea and worm treatment • Alternatively, pop into Woodside where our shop staff will advise you

Figures released by the Government earlier this year showed that 96% of homes and businesses in the county are able to access superfast broadband – above the national average of 95%. The council and partners are now working towards 97% coverage by the end of 2018. In Coalville and the surrounding areas, more than 1,000 homes and businesses are able to connect to fibre broadband and access superfast speeds. Across the whole of the North West Leicestershire District, 54% of premises which are able to connect have so far signed up for superfast broadband. This means that there are a lot of people who CAN connect but who haven’t yet made the switch. The project started in 2014 as a partnership programme between Leicestershire County Council and BT. Since then, it has had two project extensions with a third phase in the pipeline.
Working together with partners and organisations across Leicester and Leicestershire the project has made superfast fibre broadband, with speeds of 24Mbps or more, available to more than 65,000 homes and businesses in the county and city, with a further 13,000 experiencing significantly higher speeds. Superfast broadband updates don’t happen automatically. You will first need to check it is available for your premises online at www. superfastleicestershire.org.uk and then contact your broadband provider or review the market so you can arrange an upgrade that suits your online needs. A fibre broadband connection at home means everyone in the house can be online at the same time without losing speed or buffering – whether you’re gaming, catching up on your favourite programmes through streaming, downloading music or posting to social media. If you run a business, superfast broadband enables you to maximise growth and expand your customer base, with faster upload and download speeds, better connectivity and more flexible ways of working. So make sure you don’t get left behind – check to see if you can upgrade to superfast broadband today.

Ivanhoe College S.T.E.A.M. Show Sponsored By Rolls Royce On Thursday 22nd February Ivanhoe College hosted their second annual S.T.E.A.M. Show event; this year with sponsorship from Rolls Royce. At the end of 2017 students were invited to submit proposals of projects they wanted to investigate under the categories of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths and working either in small teams or individually they went away to develop their projects and to work on a presentation for the Show. After setting up their stands in the morning the students involved hosted lots of our Year 7 classes and talked them through their work, or guided them to use their hands on activities. The youngest students in our school were enthralled at the projects with many expressing a desire to get involved in next year’s competition. In the afternoon each team had 2 minutes to present their project to the panel of judges; to demonstrate to them their knowledge on the subject, the amount of original work they had put in and the findings of their research. Prizes were to be presented at the official evening event. Ivanhoe College were pleased to welcome representatives from Rolls Royce, Triumph, 3M and Siemens as well as Governors, Parents and staff to the event. The evening was a real celebration of the students’ hard work and dedication. Visitors got a chance to browse all of the stands and speak to the students about their work. We had many comments about the students’ maturity; that it was hard to believe that they were only ages 1114 years old. Ros Smith from 3M said, “I attended the first S.T.E.A.M. Show last year, but this year is bigger and better!!! The quality of the students work is absolutely fantastic’. At 6pm we gathered to discover who had won the awards, Subject Leader for Computing, Mr Thornewill said, “It has been an almost impossible task to decide the winners of tonight’s awards, the standard has been so high. It’s been really pleasing to see students take a passion from a S.T.E.A.M. subject and really pursue it as their project. Their unrelenting enthusiasm is infectious, they are a great advocates for all the wonderful work done at Ivanhoe.” The Best in Show Award, this year named, the ‘Rolls Royce Pioneering Award’, was presented by Mark McIntosh and Amy Derbyshire from Rolls Royce. Mark said, “I’m honestly astounded at the quality of the projects we’ve seen tonight. I can see a direct synergy with the work some of the students are doing with computing, design and science, and what we’re doing at Rolls Royce. I can’t believe the depth of knowledge the students have, and the creativity and originality of their ideas is what we need, in the UK, from engineers in the future.” As part of their sponsorship Amy announced to the students, and their families, that the winners of the awards were invited to come to Rolls Royce on a visit, as their guests, for a tour around the head office and a chance to meet some of their engineers and designers. The excitement in the room was immense!
The awards winners were as follows: Computing Award – Alfie Ropson who created a working model of an in house security system he had developed and coded using Raspberry Pie. Design Award – Hannah and Rachel Miness who investigated prosthetics through the ages and created their own working prototypes of hand prosthetics. Science Award (Double Award Winners) – Henry Freeman with a practical demonstration of the density of different liquids. Zara Platts and Keira Pagett with their science of superheroes investigation and a computer coded quiz to determine which superhero you are most like. Self Manager Award – Leah Massingham who researched sports injuries and developed athletic clothing with heated patches to aid recovery. Creativity Award – Alice Hall and Ruby Webster with a sensitive and thought provoking research project into Depersonalization Disorder and Derealisation Disorder. Team Work Award Kindly sponsored by Tesco Ashby – Sam Manning and James Gravett with a computer coding project The Rolls Royce Pioneering Award for Best in Show was awarded to Year 8 student Daisy Hainsworth. She impressed the judges with an original design project for a product called the Hydro Buddy. Daisy had identified an need for dancers and athletes to be monitored and reminded to drink water during exercising and had built a computer coded prototype model of such a device to be worn on the wrist. In addition she had done further scientific research into the amounts of hydration needed for different exercises as well as based on the physical makeup such as BMI and the impact on hydration. Her presentation to the judges was confident and her informative display presented her work impeccably. Congratulations to all of the winners. Subject Leader for Design, Ms Konig said, “I've been blown away by the quality of the work I've seen this evening - our young people have worked so hard on their projects and their passion and enthusiasm has just shone through. They present their work with such confidence which makes me so proud to have been a part of the event.” and Stephanie Morton from Triumph said, “It’s been a real pleasure to come to the S.T.E.A.M. show tonight, I’ve been really impressed. We’d love to work more with the school in the future.”

County Councillor & Labour Group Leader
Dr Terri Eynon
T: 01530 832622 E: terri.eynon@leics.gov.uk Who’s Going To Take The Bus? Did you know that 94% of
Leicestershire’s 13 million bus journeys per year are fully
privatised? Some people are
still under the impression that Councils run the buses. From
1985 a Conservative Government
Transport Act meant that Councils had no statutory duty provide
buses, only to ‘consider them’.
There are lots of good reasons
why Councils should ‘consider’ buses. Two thirds of people
looking for a job either have no
access to a vehicle or cannot drive. With the high cost of insurance and low wages it is hardly
surprising that young people are
amongst the biggest users of bus
services. Older people sometimes have to give up driving due to health conditions. 40 per cent
of people over 60 use the bus at least once a week. Councils
need to ‘consider’ how people of all ages are going to get to the
shops, to the doctors and to work. Buses are also healthier than cars. Passenger cars clog up our roads and produce nearly 60 per cent
of road transport CO2 emissions, compared with just 5 per cent from buses.
Does Your Bus Turn A Profit? Private bus companies will only run services that make a profit.
There are some villages that would
decided to remove all their bus subsidies. I am pleased to say
that Leicestershire is not going down that route. But it doesn’t
mean things are going to stay the same. Some of these subsidised bus-routes might be profitable and the bus companies may choose to keep them going
without a subsidy. Others may
need to be replaced by a Ring and Ride service, otherwise known as demand responsive transport. Is This Going In The Right Direction? This consultation is a chance for

The extension to North Street car park is being built by North West Leicestershire District Council (NWLDC) as part of the its £1.1 million contribution to the Ashby Neighbourhood Plan. It will help address the need for additional parking spaces in the town, handing a boost to its retail, leisure and cultural offerings. The wider plan for the town, created by Ashby Town Council on behalf of its community, aims to improve the historic market town’s culture and leisure offer and celebrate the wealth of attractions it is home to, including the popular leisure centre with its unique Ashby Lido, museum, The Venture Theatre and various green spaces. While the impact on shoppers, visitors and leisure centre users will be kept to a minimum, the capacity of the current North Street car park will be reduced temporarily at different points in the project. The work will also require road closures at different stages. Members of the public can keep up to date on changes to the car park as the work continues at www.nwleics.gov.uk/ashby and on social media. Work began on the site in November with the demolition of the disused health centre to prepare the ground for the extended car park. An attractive redesign of the entrance to Hood Park Leisure Centre will be part of the next phase of the scheme. Councillor Richard Blunt, Leader of North West Leicestershire District Council, said: “We’re delighted that our £1.1 million investment is bringing these much needed parking spaces to Ashby, which will enable people to more easily enjoy its fantastic attractions and facilities. Our contractors will be working as fast as they can and we appreciate everyone’s patience while the work is ongoing.” Councillor Alison Smith MBE, Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for Community Services for North West Leicestershire District Council, said: “The additional spaces and redesign of this part of town support a wider aspiration to improve Ashby, which is a vibrant and enjoyable place to be. The extra parking will bring immediate benefits to everyone in the town and help attract new visitors to enjoy what we have to offer.” Councillor John Coxon, Leader of Ashby Town Council, said: “I’m delighted the district council is working with us to make these much needed improvements to the town. The new parking will open up a lot of opportunities for us in our efforts to make Ashby even more vibrant and successful than it already is. I’m looking forward to seeing the extended car park open and available for people to use when visiting businesses in the town.”

Police Crack Down On Nuisance Motorbikes County Councillor Michael Wyatt has welcomed the action of the local Police who took action over the continued nuisance of motorbikes on Bardon Hill. Local Councillor for the area and chairman of the Bardon Quarry liaison committee Michael Wyatt said, “I’m delighted that the police have managed to catch some of the mindless idiots churning up our countryside and causing major noise problems for residents who back onto Bardon Hill. People don’t realise how annoying and disrespectful it is to hear constant motorbikes noise early on a Sunday morning, hopefully this will send out a message to others that if they break the law they could be prosecuted and ultimately lose their bike.”
Wyatt Exposes Failing Tory Waste Policy Cllr Michael Wyatt has exposed the amount being spent on cleaning up fly tipping. Cllr Michael Wyatt said, “In 2016-17 the Council spent over £40,000 which is a huge amount of taxpayers money on cleaning up waste that’s been dumped, This money could of been better spent on filling potholes, reducing car parking fees, promoting our Town, reducing Council tax! These are just a few items that this ever increasing amount of money could of been spent on instead it’s being spent on tackling waste being dumped in our open countryside. The only reason we are seeing an increase in fly tipping is because of the current Tory waste disposal policy which encourages fly tipping in our countryside.”
Ashby Santa Run Raises £11600 For Local Charities! Ashby Castle Rotary Club have announced another record breaking year from the 2017 Ashby Santa Fun Run and Walk. Over 1400 Santa’s signed up to the event and this combined with the sponsorship from many local businesses has helped the Rotary Club raise £11644.36 for charity. The 2017 event was the third and biggest that the Rotary Club has organised, growing from 625 Santa’s taking part in 2015 and 1100 in 2016. The event took place as part of the Ashby Christmas Event weekend on Sunday 3rd December in glorious sunshine where the sight of 1400 Santa’s turned the town of Ashby red. The four main charities being supported by the 2017 event were Hospice Hope, Staunton Harold Sailability Trust, Rainbows Children’s Hospice and Wishes 4 Kids. Representatives from all four charities attended a Rotary Club breakfast meeting to be presented with cheques by Santa Fun Run committee Chairman Kevin Sanders and Club President Carol Eyley. Hospice Hope and Sailability both received cheques for £2800 with Rainbows and Wishes 4 Kids receiving cheques for £1400. The remaining funds raised will be distributed by the Rotary Club to their other supported charities. Kevin Sanders who leads the organising committee for the Santa Fun Run said “Well what a fantastic day we had and we were blessed with fine weather again. The sight of those 1400 Santa’s running around the course and then filling the towns pubs, café’s and street market after the event was something special and for many marked the real start of the festive season. Raising nearly £12,000 thanks to the brilliant support of the participants and sponsorship from companies and organisations was a wonderful result. We know all of the four main charities well and can be confident that the monies raised will be used effectively for the benefit of local people”. The Ashby Santa Fun Run and Walk will be returning again in 2018 and is planned to be held on Sunday 2nd December. The Rotary Club are encouraging any local businesses or organisations who are interested in getting involved in supporting the 2018 event to contact Kevin Sanders for further information on 07808 095609 or by email at kevindereksanders@gmail.com. Member Of Parliament
Andrew Bridgen
M: 01530 417736 E: andrew.bridgen.mp@parliament.uk It’s been a very busy few weeks in Parliament with the terms of the Brexit transition deal now completed, the fallout from the use by the Russian State of a chemical weapon in the UK, announcements on housing and a new pay deal for those who work in the NHS. On the matter of the transitional deal, this will provide certainty and clarity and will give governments, businesses and citizens in both the UK and the EU the time they need to put in place the new arrangements required, as the terms of our future partnership become clearer. This period will also put us in the best position possible to take advantage of leaving the single market and customs union – providing for a smooth and orderly exit from the EU, while also allowing us to negotiate, sign and ratify new deals with fast growing markets in the rest of the world from the moment we leave the EU in March 2019. There are of course aspects of the deal I am not comfortable with such as on fishing rights and these concerns are being represented. I am however willing to endure 21 “uncomfortable” months of transition to achieve the prize of a real Brexit where we regain control of our laws, borders and money. On the issue of the attack in Salisbury on Mr Skripal and his daughter, it was determined early on that they were poisoned with a military-grade nerve agent of a type developed by Russia. This left two plausible explanations. Either this was a direct act by the Russian state against the UK, or the Russian Government lost control of a military-grade nerve agent and allowed it to get into the hands of others. The Government offered Russia the opportunity to provide an explanation, but they failed to explain how this agent was used or why they have an undeclared chemical weapons programme. There is therefore no alternative conclusion other than that Russia was culpable for the attempted murder of Mr Skripal and his daughter - and for threatening the lives of other British citizens in Salisbury, including Detective Sergeant Nick Bailey. This attempted murder in Salisbury was not just an act against the UK. It is an affront to the rules-based system on which the UK and our international partners depend. We must work with our allies and partners to confront such actions wherever they threaten our security, at home and abroad. The Government is prioritising the building on new homes as present and this is an area where North West Leicestershire is already doing its bit as I explained at Prime Minister’s Question Time recently when I cited that over the last three years, more than 2,000 new
homes have been built in North West Leicestershire, including a record 731 in the last 12 months. Additionally, we are building new council houses for the first time in decades. That is all in contrast with the 227 houses completed in the year to 2010, which was the last time Labour was in government. I also pointed out that our unemployment rate had fallen by 70% and youth unemployment by 80% since 2010. The Prime Minister praised our record stating ‘I am pleased that my hon. Friend has raised the example of North West Leicestershire, and we are very happy to join him in acknowledging the example it is setting.’ Next month, the first new Council Houses to be built in our district for 30 years will be completed and I look forward to visiting the site. We have a record to be proud of and I was pleased to be able to cite our success in Parliament. I also brought up the Council’s record on homelessness and although we don’t have any recorded Homeless people, there is a wider issue. From April 2018, the Homelessness Reduction Act will be implemented. The most ambitious legislative reform in tackling homelessness in decades and supported by both Shelter and Crisis, this Act will require councils to provide early support to people at risk of homelessness. Furthermore, over £1 billion has been allocated through to 2020 towards tackling homelessness and rough sleeping, including £28 million for three Housing First pilots. These pilots will support some of the most entrenched rough sleepers off the streets, providing them with stable accommodation and intensive wrap-around support. Homelessness is a symptom of often complex problems such as addiction issues, mental health problems and family breakdown and it is tackling these underlying causes which is fundamental to solving the problem of rough sleeping. Finally, the Government has also announced wage rises for over 1.1 million NHS workers in England with the pay of the lowest earning NHS staff, such as porters, cleaners and hospital caterers, increasing substantially as a result of pay band reform. These staff will see their basic pay increase by 15 per cent over the next three years. This has only been possible because of the way the Conservatives have managed the Government finances and brought down the record deficit left by Labour. The ability of the Government to increase NHS wages is a direct result of areas like ours which have delivered some of the highest economic growth in the country and which continues to drive our economy forward.

St Clare’s Catholic Primary School Receives High Praise From OFSTED St Clare’s Catholic Primary School staff and pupils are celebrating following a glowing report delivered by Ofsted which sees the school continuing to be ‘Good’. The inspection, which took place in January 2018, praised the behaviour of pupils, pupils’ achievement and wellbeing, and the leadership and management of the school. The Ofsted inspectors positively recognised the strengths of St Clare’s Talk for Learning approach to pupils’ studies where ‘pupils support each other in lessons exceptionally well’ and ‘talk to each other about their learning, and resolve problems by talking them through before asking an adult for help’. Inspectors praised pupil behaviour throughout the report and the relationships between staff and pupils are seen as ‘a strength of the school’. Not only is the relationship strong between staff and pupils, St Clare’s is commended for their engagement with parents and carers through initiatives such as the weekly award ceremony and parents and carers working with their children in some lessons at the school. Headteacher, Louise Freeman commented: "The outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection is excellent and a testament to the commitment, skills and hard work of our exceptional staff and the support of our governors, Trust and families. Our pupils are outstanding and deserve the praise that has been heaped on them. We are determined to build on the successes achieved to date and to continue to deliver the quality of learning experience that will ensure our pupils are fully prepared for life in the 21st century." St Clare’s would like to take this opportunity to welcome you all to their Collaborative Learning Summer Celebration Event where the success of this Ofsted inspection and the achievements of pupils and staff from throughout the year will be celebrated. To find out more, contact the school on office@ st-clares.leics.sch.uk, 01530837747 or visit the school website.
