Loughborough Flower Lovers' Club Open Meeting Tickets are now on sale for Loughborough Flower Lovers' Club's Christmas Open Meeting on Thursday,15th November, when members of the public are invited to what promises to be a wonderful evening's entertainment by the celebrated floral designer, John Chennell, with a demonstration entitled 'The Magic of Christmas'. John, a NAFAS National and International Demonstrator, Adjudicator and Instructor from Wellingborough, is renowned for his breathtaking floral displays. Although the performance starts at 7.30 pm, the doors will open at 6.30 pm to give all those attending time for light refreshments. There will also be a giant tombola and a raffle. The raffle prizes will, of course, be the spectacular flower arrangements produced during the evening. Anyone who loves flowers or would just like an enjoyable evening out in good company is welcome to come along to the friendly club. There's no audience participation, just sit back, relax, and be entertained. The event will be held at Our Lady's Convent School, Gray Street, Loughborough, LE11 2DZ, where there is plenty of free parking within the school grounds. Tickets cost £10 and are available from 01509 880099, 01509 842334, 01509 853740, or on the door. The Club, which meets at Our Lady's Convent School hall, goes from strength to strength with 80 current members who meet once a month to enjoy demonstrations by professional guest speakers. Last year saw its 65th Blue Sapphire Anniversary which was celebrated with a dinner at the Griffin Inn, Swithland, followed by the cutting of a celebratory cake made by a committee member.

More recently, the annual summer luncheon was held in Oaks in Charnwood Village Hall, where members and visitors, including representatives from local clubs, gathered for a delicious buffet. This was followed by an entertaining and amusing demonstration entitled 'In My Dreams I Travelled Far' by the Club's Chairman, Mrs Pat Billing, herself a professional demonstrator, who skilfully produced many colourful floral designs using a wide range of fresh flowers with exciting backdrops. The event was well attended and was enjoyed by everyone. Each lucky raffle prize winner was able to take home one of the arrangements. Monthly meetings run from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm at the above address, when new members and visitors can be assured of a very warm welcome. Admission for visitors is £5. If you would like to know more, please ring 01509 853740.

Shepshed Probus Club The October meeting of Shepshed Probus Club was held on the 1st of the month at J23 Truckstop Restaurant where our President, Mr Horace Lister welcomed members and also our speaker Mr Stephen Flinders. Mr Lister went through apologies for absence before handing over to our Secretary Mr Wilf Shelton who spoke about club business including our two Christmas lunches and the need for raffle prizes. He then introduced Stan for our dose of humourous stories which were followed by a prayer before we had lunch. Our speaker re-introduced himself and his subject was “Stanton at War.” The Stanton Mr Flinders was speaking about was Stanton Ironworks. Stanton did not have enough stock so the country was scoured for iron and steel to smelt down and be cast into materials for war: barrels for guns, rifles and other accoutrements but their main work was to cast the casings for thousands of 500lb bombs. The biggest problem was ensuring the right steel came out of the smelters. Much of the iron and steel that was salvaged from around the country was the wrong type and could not be smelted down. If you drove past the works during this time you would have seen piles and piles of iron railings which had been cut from peoples front gardens, from parks and estates, all unuseable because it was the wrong sort of metal. During the war, women had to replace men doing many of the heavy jobs and by 1941, 40% of the workforce were women. Rotary furnaces were used to smelt the cast iron and oxygen was pumped through the iron to convert it back to steel. Sand was thrown into the top of the furnaces to coagulate the slag that gathered on the top of the steel and that allowed the furnaceman to scrape the slag off before the metal was poured into the moulds. Several other processes still had to take place before the casting/mould was ready for use. The factory continued casting until 1951 and questions were asked as to what happened to the factory cats! Mr Lister thanked our speaker for his interesting talk and reminded members that the next meeting would be held on Monday 5th. November. He also reminded members to bring raffle prizes and to invite their guests to the December meeting.

Shepshed Lions Club Annual Christmas Market The Shepshed Lions Club Annual Charity Christmas Market will take place from 10am on Sunday 2nd December 2018 in The Hallcroft, Shepshed. This is earlier than in previous years due to requests from visitors to the market in previous years. The idea came to hold the market came from listening to residents of Shepshed saying that Shepshed needs a Christmas Market rather than travel further afield. The previous markets have proved very popular and have helped create a nice Christmas atmosphere in the Town. We have the usual attractions of a wide variety of stalls selling Christmas goodies, Mad Dominic, the street entertainer who makes children of all ages laugh, the lovely carols and Christmas songs sung by local school choirs, a brass band playing Christmas music, hot mulled wine and mince pies at Livio’s restaurant, reduced prices for hot beverages provided by Meet n’ Eat and of course, Santa Claus will be there in his Grotto. Please come along and support this event. All the proceeds made by Shepshed Lions Club are spent on local good causes.

Hathern Remembrance Service Sunday 11th November St Peter & St Paul Church, at 10:30am Led by Hathern Band, the Service of Remembrance is always popular at St Peter & St Paul's Church. A traditional service, with readings and hymns, accompanied by Hathern Band. After the service the congregation moves to the war memorial at the cemetery for laying of poppies and a moment of reflection. All monies collect at this service are donated to the Royal British Legion.

Shepshed Toy Library Shepshed Toy Library is proud to announce £9,999 funding from the National Lottery - Awards For all. This is towards our running costs from wipes to bills; ensuring that we are guaranteed to run for yet another year! Running costs for charities are getting increasingly difficult to obtain in today’s competitive market. We really appreciate this help as it will give us more time to focus on running the library itself. The funding aims to bring people together and build strong relationships in and across communities. The Toy Library supports child development through play by offering a range of quality toys to all children including those with disabilities for recreation, therapy and education to advance their intellectual, motor, personal and social development. Nestled behind a group of trees at the bottom of the Iveshead campus, our mobile has been in operation since 1993. Prior to this it started out at the Shepshed Town Council offices in 1984. Over the years, staff and volunteers have helped thousands of family’s loan quality toys for a small membership fee. We loan quality indoor and outdoor toys (mainly recycled donations) from story sacks to DVD’s. Toys can be loaned for party use and we also cater for room hire.

Shepshed Lions Club is pleased to announce that their annual Santa Sleigh collection will start on Wednesday 5th December 2018. Santa will start the collections from 5.30pm each night. Due to the increased number of houses that have now been built and occupied Shepshed Lions Club will revise the routes and publish them as soon as they are finalized. Santa does try to visit as many houses to speak with all the children but sometimes this is not always possible. Please understand that sometimes this may not be possible due to adverse weather conditions or other unforeseen events.

We collect broken/old toy parts, so if you have an art project in mind do let us know. We are hoping to further our IT systems as well as involve avid DIYers in helping to restore the outside of the annex. Please let us know if you can assist with these.

Shepshed Lions Club Santa Claus’s Post Box

Guided play sessions also run three times per week during term time run by a qualified play leader. We are mainly volunteer led so if you are thinking of doing something worthwhile with your free time, then why not give us a call? We can be contacted on 601146, shepshedtoylib@yahoo.co.uk or find us on Facebook and Twitter.

With the kind permission of the Central England Cooperative Society Limited Santa Claus has put his Post Box in the Central England Cooperative Store, The Hallcroft, Shepshed. The Post Box is only for letters to Santa Claus and not for other mail. Everyone who posts a letter to Santa will receive a reply so please ensure you put your name and address on your letter.

4 Reasons Why Winter Weddings Are the Best By Timmy @PartySaveSmile.co.uk Hi Guys, Timmy from www.partysavesmile.co.uk again. I hate to say it, but Winter is fast approaching, don’t worry, there is plenty to look forward to – such as a Winter Wedding! Winter weddings are becoming increasingly popular with engaged couples, who are opting to swap sunshine and flowers, for mulled wine, balloons and log fires. Why are winter weddings becoming the done thing? And what essentials do you need to pull off the perfect snowy soiree? You can be less traditional with colour Unlike the summer months, which traditionally lend themselves to pastels and lighter shades, any colour palette can work for you in the winter. Whether you want to bring in rich reds or bold blacks, you have the opportunity to inject personality into your colour scheme, especially as darker colours are perfectly suited to the colder weather.

Free Event To Help Our Elderly Make The Most Of Later Years Your evening do transition is easier

21st November, St Botolph’s Church Hall, Shepshed.

Winter weddings have great natural lighting, and once the sun sets you can capture a stunning romantic backdrop for your photographs. As weddings can sometimes feel like a long day for those invited to the full event, the shorter days in winter mean that the tradition from dazzling daytime to cosy night-time is smooth, quick and effortless.

Local people are being invited to attend a free event in Shepshed, hosted by Bluebird Care (Loughborough and Ashby-de-la-Zouch).

You have better food options Winter means two words: comfort food. Forget the summer salads, choosing a winter wedding means you can opt for hearty dishes like casseroles, soups and pastas. The spices and flavours that come with a traditional winter menu, allow you to be more playful with your food choices, which is not only lots of fun to plan, but also relaxing and comforting for your guests. The ambience can be more romantic There’s something truly magical about the beauty of a bride in a wintery setting. Whether it’s the delicate lighting, rich colour palettes or warm textures, a traditional bride is illuminated next to the darker tones. Winter weddings lend themselves perfectly to couples who share a love for comfort food, rustic decor and atmospheric, misty weather.

It will be an opportunity for older people living in the town and neighbouring villages, and their family and friends, to find out about what services are on offer to help them to stay safe, secure, healthy and independent in their own homes. The event will feature stalls and displays from a broad range of organisations and services, all of whom support older people - ensuring they can make the most of later years. Charity Mwelwa, Managing Director of Bluebird Care (Loughborough) said: “The over 65-year olds play an important part in our society. Not only have they contributed in previous years to the development of civic life, but they also add greatly to the economy, and give hundreds of hours of voluntary time to community groups. We rely heavily on older people for all they do, not to mention the support they give by helping out with grandchildren.” The three-hour engagement event will include stalls from; Age UK Leicestershire, Bluebird Care Loughborough, Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, Loughborough Men’s Shed, Healthwatch Leicestershire,Wiltshire Farm Foods, Charnwood Lifeline, Charnwood Warden Services, John Storer Charnwood, Community First Responders, Shepshed Special Community Bus, Shepshed Carers, Glebe House, Local Area Co-ordination, Loros Hospice,Together Against Cancer, Vista Blind, Alzheimer’s Society and The Carers Centre to name just a few. If you are part of a charity or community group working with older people and you would like a free table at this event, please contact Michael Auton on 07862 253514 or email michalautonconsultancy@gmail.com. Spaces are very limited so please get in touch as soon as possible. Those attending will be treated to free tea, coffee, and cake.

Charity added: “Too often, the older members of our society feel isolated with no one to talk to. Part of the job our care workers do includes spending time with people, keeping them company, and giving them a helping hand around the house. Our free event will give older people a chance to meet others in similar situations and make new friends. They will also be able to discover the array of organisations working in Shepshed and Loughborough to provide a better quality of life of our older residents and their families.” The event takes place at the St Botolph’s Church Hall, Church Gate, Shepshed, LE12 9RJ from 10am to 1pm on Monday 21st November 2018. Shepshed History Society On October 9th the Shepshed History Society enjoyed an excellent talk given by Celia Sangar, her subject being the fascinating life and times of the famous 19th century Egyptologist Sir Gardner Wilkinson born in 1797. Well known in the Derbys area, he was a friend and relative to the Harpur Crewe family at Calke Abbey. They were to inherit a mass amount of his books most of which were written by him as well as many of his artefacts which are still there today. Celia explained in detail his intriguing life with his entourage as he explored the Valley of the Kings tombs, they themselves lodging in a minor tomb many of which were used as lodging houses on the hillsides. When wanting his books published he returned to Britain and went to live in Llandovery Wales. Many times he returned to Egypt and the Balcons as well as other countries. He married late in life to one Caroline Catherine Lucas, she was to edit his manuscripts but when he died in 1875 he left his widow in poor financial straits from which she was rescued by given a pension that Benjamin Disraeli persuaded the Queen to grant her. The November meeting on Tues 13th will be given by Julie Ede and her talk will be about the famous couturiere Chanel. Newcomers always welcome.

Shepshed And District Camera Club The members of Shepshed and District Camera Club began the 2018/2019 season back at the Shepshed Council Offices in early September. Not only did most of the existing members return but a warm welcome was also given to several new members as well. The first major meeting was a lecture entitled ‘Architecture Through The Viewfinder’ given by Nottingham based Martine Hamilton Knight, D.Litt (Hon), ARPS. Martine runs her own business photographing, as she calls it, the built environment, award winning buildings and interiors both in the U.K .and abroad which are used to illustrate books and magazines as well as marketing literature. It was a very interesting and informative evening with some excellent photography on show from which the members were able to learn much about this area of photography. Several ‘in-club’ evenings have been held with various members making contributions towards them and most recently the annual ’4 New Images Peter Harvey Trophy’ competition was held. Peter was a founder member of the club back in 1976 but he sadly died a few years ago and this trophy is competed for in his memory every season. With 84 entries from 21 members, four from each entrant, being judged by Alan Cook and then marked out of 20, the contest took up most of the evening at the end of which the winner, with 74 points out of a possible 80, was Club Chairman Alan Harris. An audio visual presentation of all the entries is available to view on YouTube at https://youtu.be/p-PjfE5Hv1g The season continues through until June next year and the forthcoming programme and contact details can be found at www.shepshedcameraclub.co.uk

Also, the next walk scheduled for 18 November will depart Shepshed Market Place at 09.30 am for a 6.5 mile walk ‘Doing the Rounds’ (Ticknall area) and should return between 2.00 and 3.00pm. Walkers should carry a coffee and lunch break. For further information in respect of either the AGM or the walk please contact Margaret on 01509 600510 or Bernie on 01509 828328.

Serenade’s Busy Summer & Upcoming Winter Concert

St. Winefrides Christmas Fayre

Serenade, Shepshed’s ladies community choir have been very busy having fun and rasing lots of money for our local charities over the summer.

On the 24th November between 10am and 2pm St. Winefrides Church will once again be holding their annual Christmas Fayre at the Iveshead School on Forest Street Shepshed.

Our summer concert, back in June was a great success, with sell out seats and a great response from all who attended. Thanks so much for supporting us, buying tickets for the concert as well as purchasing raffle tickets and refreshments on the night. All money raised goes to our chosen charities.

You are all cordially invited to join us. As always there will be carol singers to open the event and then you can wander all of our stalls to buy your Christmas puddings, pickles, jams and many other delights. You can also buy presents for Christmas, or take part in many of the games there. As always Santa Claus will be there ready to listen to what the children want for Christmas. When tired you can rest your weary bones and have a refreshing cuppa and food. Looking forward to seeing you all there, St. Winefrides Social Committee.

Borough Cllr Christine Radford T: 01509 502974 M: 07796 544817 E: christine_radford@hotmail.com

MP Nicky Morgan

T: 01509 262723 E: nicky.morgan.mp@parliament.uk

We can be contacted on matters concerning Charnwood Borough Council. We deal with housing problems, (such as trying to move house, unsatisfactory improvement work being carried out on your Council property) problems with neighbours, Anti-Social Behaviour, whether or not you live in a Council property or a privately owned property. We also deal with planning issues.

November means it is time for some more excellent Christchurch Gilbert & Sullivan performances. This year they are performing The Mikado from the 6th to the 10th of November. The Saturday performance is the usual matinee. The Mikado will be performed at Iveshead School, formerly Hind Leys College, and as usual evening performances will start at 7.30pm and the matinee at 2.30pm.

Planning P/17/0807/2 - Variation of condition 9 of P/14/1604/2

The performances are always highly enjoyable and colourful and I know are the result of many months of hard work and rehearsals. Tickets can be bought by calling 01509 504376 and cost £12 for adults and £6 for children.

The above application is to vary condition 9 of P/14/1604/2 to amend the approved plans relating to highway works at junction of Hallamford Road/Tickow Lane/Belton Street/Oakley Road. The original planning decision requested 2 mini roundabouts and the amendment states for one round about. P/18/1748/2 - Erection of single storey extension to rear of dwelling and single storey detached garage to side/rear at 40 Garendon Road. P/18/1750/2 - erection of 2.4 metre high palisade fence to front elevation at Unit 2 Old Station Close. Planning Decisions P/18/1654/2 - Construction of two 1-1/2 storey dwellings on land r/o 63 Iveshead Road The above application was decided by delegated powers by officers and was refused. All the above applications can be found on the planning explorer at Charnwood. Anti-Social Behaviour - Public meeting Following a large number of complaints and concerns raised by residents who live in Grange Road, The Meadows and Celandine Close a Public meeting has been arranged for 7.30pm on Thursday evening 29th November in the downstairs room inside the Town Council Offices on Charnwood Road. A representative from the MP’s office has been invited - Nicky Morgan is unable to attend - Officers from Charnwood Borough Council’s housing department, Charnwood Borough Council’s Anti-social behaviour team and the Police. Members Grants Each Borough Councillor was given £1,000 to provide grants to a wide variety of community and voluntary organisations within Charnwood to further the Council’s aims and actively assist the community to enjoy a better quality of life. Your four Shepshed Borough Cllrs have allocated their grants and have given it out to the Volunteer Bureau, Community Bus, Glenmore Luncheon Club and Shepshed Food Bank towards their Christmas Hampers. Your Borough Cllrs hope that this will be ongoing.

November also means it is time for our annual Remembrance events. They are given added poignancy this year as we mark the end of the First World War 100 years ago. I try to take part in as many events around the constituency as I can but this does sometimes mean I can’t be in two places at once. So, this year I will be unable to join Shepshed residents in Glenmore Park but I know that your ceremony will be well-attended and dignified and respectful as always. There are a significant number of events going on across Charnwood to mark the 100th anniversary of the armistice and more details can be found at www. charnwood.gov.uk/pages/ww1_events I was delighted to visit the Nottingham Housing Association residence in Bridge Street recently to see the revamped living area which Shepshed Lions, amongst others, have supported. I know this will be really appreciated by all the tenants living there and it was great to meet some of them and to hear about the support they receive from NCHA. Parliament Week also takes place from 12th - 18th November. This is an opportunity to both educate about the work of Parliament, the fact that some women and all men finally gained the right to vote 100 years ago and to encourage all eligible residents to register to vote. There are some excellent resources on the Parliament website (www.ukparliamentweek.org/resources/) and I am always delighted to visit schools and local groups to talk about Parliament and what MPs do and to welcome visitors to Westminster, where the tours are excellent and there is a very popular new Education Centre for school and college visits.

Children’s Park Vandalise Due to extensive vandalism to the safety surfacing beneath the swings on Wicklow Close, it has been necessary to remove the swings. A quotation to replace the safety surfacing is being sought, in the meantime, until the safety surfacing has been replaced, the swings will not be re-installed on the grounds of health and safety. Shepshed Town Council wishes to apologise for the inconvenience caused.

Empty Homes Charnwood has an empty homes officer, Muhammad Uddin who will work with home owners to help get empty homes back into use by offering advice and support on what’s best for the property including finding tenants and getting access to discounted selling fees with local agents and auctioneers. A former care home in Loughborough which has stood empty for more than 20 years has been refurbished to provide six self-contained two bedroom flats. The former care home had become an eyesore and a source of complaints from residents but work between the owners of the property in Mayfield Drive and Charnwood the flats are available to rent privately. This is one of 112 properties in the borough which has been brought back into use as part of Charnwood’s Empty Homes Strategy. Charnwood are committed to tackling the issue of Empty Homes across the borough to help ease the pressure of the local housing market and ensure properties don’t become a concern for the community. For more information or to report an Empty Home in your area visit www.charnwood.gov.uk.empty_homes Cabinet Approve Location For Future Cemetery In Loughborough Charnwood Borough Council’s Cabinet approved that land at Nanpantan is to be developed as a new cemetery in Loughborough. The current cemetery in Leicester Road is due to run out of space within four years. Approval for this is needed from the Environment Agency and planning permission is obtained.

County Cllr Christine Radford T: 01509 502974 M: 07796 544817 E: christine_radford@hotmail.com

As your County Councillor, I am always on hand to try and deal with any concerns you may have about services provided by Leicestershire County Council. Such as street lighting, highways, footpaths, overhanging trees and hedges onto the highways/footpaths, social services etc. A512- Ashby Road Residents have contacted me asking what is happening on the A512. A workman and a drain cleaner have been undertaking maintenance of the drainage network along with ground penetrating radar surveys in advance of the proposed road improvement scheme scheduled to start in the Spring of 2019. The proposed improvement works form part of a package of measures which incorporate improvements to the following junctions: • Traffic Signal improvements at Junction 23 of the M1 • Widening works on the A512 east side of the motorway (L’Bor side) • A new roundabout access to a development on the A512 east side of the motorway • Improvements to Ashby Road Central/Iveshead Road junction • Improvements to Ashby Road Central/Ingleberry Road junction The works that are planned at the junction of Ashby Road Central/Iveshead Road are to upgrade the signals and undertake kerbline alterations which are predominantly located on the west side of the road. There is a small section of carriageway widening on Iveshead Road away from the junction and it is anticipated that the noise impact will be negligible to the surround properties. County will notify residents and stakeholders of these works in due course and I will keep residents of Shepshed informed. Advance Notice Of A Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TTRO) A TTRO is to be made on part of Belton Street to facilitate Severn Trent Water with works to replace a sunken and worn manhole cover. The TTRO will incorporate a temporary road closure and temporary prohibition of waiting and loading. The duration of the restriction is not anticipated to exceed a period of 1 day commencing on the 9th December. Camera Car A patrol car with camera to monitor parents who flout parking restrictions outside Leicestershire schools will patrol schools to issue £70 fines for illegal parking. The vehicle does not remain stationary while it is monitoring an area but instead circles around the location. The built-in GPS technology recognises when the vehicle is entering an enforcement area and begins recoding using number plate recognition. If a vehicle is found to be parked illegally, the recoding is sent back to the county council office and it is from there it is decided whether a fine is to be issued. This follows a number of complaints from both residents and parents around the County and Shepshed about the parking outside schools at drop off and pick up times. This is to make the school run safer for everybody. Shepshed Library Loughborough Library will be closed from 5th November until 3rd January 2019 to enable the installation of smart library technology and the creation of two new adult learning classrooms at the bottom of the library. During this period Shepshed’s library opening times will be Monday-Friday 10am-6pm and Saturdays 10am to 4pm. This includes Wednesdays when it would normally be closed. This will not apply during the usual library close down period at Christmas 24th-26th December and 31st December – 1st January.

If you are interested in finding out more look at the website; www. fosteringleicestershire.com or the Facebook page: www.facebook/ FosteringLeicestershire.com for information and links about fostering or telephone 0116 305 0505. Air Quality At a recent meeting in County I requested information on air quality and childhood asthma for the County and for the Shepshed area. The County provides publically available maps on air quality at www.lsr-online.org/uploads/2015-based-background-maps-for-leicestershire.pdf These show the following air pollutants in Leicestershire; Nitrogen Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxide and Particulate matter PM2.5 and PM10. When using the maps please scroll down the file to view all 4 maps. Air quality monitoring is the responsibility of the District Council. Therefore specific concerns should be directed to Charnwood initially. I have given you this information as you might find it useful; I needed it so that I could direct my concerns about a matter I was looking into. Independent Custody Visiting Scheme-Volunteers Needed If you were arrest and in police custody would you want someone to check on you? That is exactly what Independent Custody Visitors do. Independent Custody visitors are members of the public from a wide range of backgrounds who volunteer to visit those being detained in police custody. Independent Custody Visitors have the important and significant responsibility of ensuring that rules governing the treatment and welfare of detainees are being observed by police. Independent Custody Visitors speak with detainees and observe conditions in custody suites. Their primary role is to listen, observe and report their finds. If interested please contact the office of the Police and Crime Commissioner at Enderby, or police.commissioner@leics.pcc.pnn.gov.uk or phone 0116 229 8703. Resident Raised Concerns I have been working with residents who live in Oxford Street and Cambridge regarding the amount of HGV’S using both roads which have a weight restriction on them. I have contacted Asda, Tesco and the Co-op as it is their vehicles who are the major culprits together with HGV’s leaving the building sites in Shepshed. I have asked County to set up a speed check on these roads because this is becoming a short cut by vehicles to miss out using the A512. This will be taking place in the New Year. Residents who live at the top of Iveshead Road near to the mini roundabout are also concerned about the number of HGV’s using this road and are causing damage and having problems negotiating the mini roundabout. Iveshead Road has a weight limit on it. St the time this development was built both myself and Cllr Tassell - Borough Cllr - raised concerns about this mini roundabout. Residents who live in Ring Fence are concerned about the size of the HGV’s visiting URGO and the damage being caused. A meeting is being arranged between URGO, residents and County to discuss these concerns in December. Problems have been raised about parking just inside Dumont Close and the bottom of Iveshead Road. The jitty between Brook Street and Shepherds Close is causing problems to residents who use this on a regular basis. I have asked County to contact the residents who back onto this jitty to cut back overhanging branches and Charnwood to make sure that the foot path is regularly cleaned. I am working with County about all the above matters.

Find Out About Fostering In my capacity as Chairman of the Children in Care Panel, I attended a County ‘find out about fostering’ event. These events are informal and welcoming and offer an opportunity to hear first-hand from some of County’s foster carer’s and on occasions the voice of a young person in care and their experiences.

Your Help Again I would like to thank the residents who keep me informed regarding issues around Shepshed, such as overgrown hedges, litter, dog mess etc., without your eyes and ears I could not get them reported and sorted.

These events are to help people decide if fostering is the right way forward for them and their family and will provide as much information as possible to help them make a decision.

For help and advice on County matters, I can be contacted on 502974 or e mail christine_radford@hotmail.com or christine.radford@leics.gov.uk or come along to my monthly Surgery on the FIRST Saturday of the month in the Town Council Offices, 47a Charnwood Road, 10-11am. No appointment is necessary.
