There are only two things South Africans can agree on. The fact that we agree on very little and the fact that we know how to have a good time. (E.g. How to show that you are homesick: "Le 'Cock' Sportif")

JOIN US ON 24 SEPTEMBER FOR A BRAAI IN PARADISE
Creation Wines First introduced in 1995, Heritage Day was conceived as a celebration of South Africa's cultural diversity. In 2008 it was also proclaimed 'National Braai Day' - mobilising the nation to unite in the one activity that connects all South Africans: our famous Braai! September the 24th has since become one of the most popular national holidays in South Africa, and it's not hard to understand why. The varied and complex structure of our society is without a doubt one of its assets; braaiing perfectly symbolises the spirit that creates a nation from this diversity. So, if you happen to be in the Hermanus vicinity on the day, do join us for a braai to remember. Overlooked by the majestic Babylon Toren Mountain, and with scenic views of our fynbos garden, our picturesque lake and rolling vineyards, Creation is the perfect setting for the perfect braai. Add to this our famous food-friendly wine list and last but not least our chef Warwick Taylor's delectable menu and you're guaranteed a 'Braai in Paradise'! Highlights on our Braai Menu Braai bread with rosemary, sundried tomato, goat's-milk cheese and onion jam - served with the delightfully fresh and fruity Creation Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon blend. Chicken and prawn skewers with lemongrass, coconut and ginger marinade – served with the elegant, delicately aromatic Creation Viognier. Curried lamb and vegetable potjie with cinnamon souskluitjies – paired with the fullbodied, intensely flavoursome Creation Syrah, Grenache blend. BOOK NOW: TEL 028 212 1107, E-MAIL info@creationwines.com Speaking about braaiing … Our talented chef Warwick Taylor was selected to participate in the WOSA USA Braai Master Campaign. IT'S TIME TO VOTE FOR THE KLINK AWARDS Last year Creation was awarded the coveted KLINK Yin and Yang Award for Best Food and Wine Pairing on a Wine Farm. You can help us win again this year by voting for us on our website. www.creationwine.com

I am a Paleotarian Our version of Paleo is based around what Paleolithic man would have eaten 10 000 years ago. As there is no written record of what was eaten the Paleo way of eating has many interpretations. Taking a general overview of what would have been consumed by the hunter gatherer we can be pretty sure he ate meat that grazed on grass and he would have consumed vegetables and fruit. What was consumed would have been dictated by the region in which he lived and how far he was able to roam from his base. There would not have been grains or processed foods as we know them today. Dairy in its current form would also not have been available. With this way of living and foraging for food Paleo man is highly unlikely to have suffered from modern day ills such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Our version of Paleo is that of Primal as we add dairy to our plan. I call our way Paleotarian as we do not always add dairy. There are as many versions to this way of eating as there are experts. There are those pro and against. If you are pro and wanting to know more click below. If you are against, thanks for reading this far. So if you want to get healthy take control of your weight and as I have began to get my diabetes under control.

What values does Pesto Princess uphold? Our products are handmade by our factory princesses (many of whom have been with us from the very beginning), using fresh ingredients from local farmers, many of whom farm on a small scale. Minimal – if any – insecticides or fertilisers are used on these farms, and keeping good, supportive relations with the farmers are held high in our regard. We don’t pasteurise or add preservatives to our products…. And you’ll find you can stand a spoon straight up in them! This is because they’re sold as concentrates, in keeping with the Italian way of making pesto.

Organic meat supplier Pastry is a problem for so many cooks and again this weekend at the SA Cheese Festival, I was asked so many times, what the secret to good pastry is! My answer is simple: Know the basic stuff and you are halfway there. Pastry making does not have to be that difficult. As with so many other processes, life is to short to sweat about stuff. I will show you the easy pastry recipes, the recipes that will make your life easier, not more difficult. How to make pastry Nina Timm The Western Cape is endowed with many beautiful passes, a number of them designed by Thomas Bain. Perhaps, and this will lead to much debate, Michell’s Pass leading to Ceres, is one of the best. The scenery of jumbled rocks and mountains with two rivers roaring away down boulder strewn beds, is somewhat breathtaking to say the least. In the old days there was a Toll House tucked away a few kilometres outside Ceres. Today there is still a Toll House and they still take your money but now one generally pays up with a smile. Our guesthouse is situated on a pretty little farm in the West Coast region of the Western Cape, halfway between Piketberg and Velddrif, about 180km north of Cape Town. It is nestled in the beautiful valley of Kapteinskloof and is one of the oldest original Homesteads of this area. In 1988 the playwright Pieter Fourie started to renovate the houses, which date back to 1831. Through his love and passion for old architecture
