How many times have you heard the phrase “another great catch by the big tight end from Notre Dame” while watching an NFL football game during the past few decades? In many circles, Notre Dame is almost reverentially referred to as “Tight End U.” The list of Notre Dame’s tight ends is literally a “who’s who” at the position: Leon Hart, Dave Casper, Mark Bavaro, Ken McAfee, Tony Hunter, Anthony Fasano, John Carlson, Kyle Rudolph, and most recently Tyler Eifert. The offensive line is a point of pride for Fighting Irish football teams. Most recently, it was offensive lineman Zack Martin — a first round draft choice of the Dallas Cowboys — who set Notre Dame’s all-time ZACK MARTIN

SCHOLARSHIP ENDOWMENT There are additional benefaction opportunities for donors who would like to make a significant gift to the Notre Dame Football program. These gifts will partially fund a grant-in-aid for a football studentathlete. Endowed gifts of $100,000+ are critical in supporting Irish studentathletes. Each endowed gift will be reinvested, and eventually, grow to have more and more of an impact. As gift levels increase, donors will also receive additional experiences and engagement with the Athletics Department (see page 41). Grant-in-aids are not fully funded, but the donor’s name will forever be attached to the endowment (eg. The Smith Family Football Scholarship).
